  1. I want to play AP, I have played NWN2 and F:NV and loved them both You mentioned its dirt cheap. Where can I buy it, on Steam?
  2. Yeah it is good news indeed. I wonder if this game was the quickest game ever to reach its minimum funding?
  3. Yeah this is just like the Bioware forums with Biowarians demanding romances that last throughout the game. It's god awful because they never shut up and will keep this thread going for 300 pages and just keep on saying they want romances and what they should be etc just like on the Bioware forums. It's terrible. Grimlorn there wouldn't be such a debate if you agreed with us and supported the idea of romances and sex with characters . And as I mentioned because this is what the majority of people want you should acquiesce to this point? You would be making the right moral choice.
  4. You right. You are a bigot and you have a derogatory view on gay relationships, how did you word it .."yuck". Tell me something, what would people think if you said " I hope this game doesn't have African American people in it, its so controversial" ? Discrimination is discrimination, and you can try to say its your opinion as if it that makes it right but it doesn't.
  5. Honestly I find your homophobic perspective distasteful. Some of us respect the fact that if straight people can have relationships in a game then so can gay people. And no need to worry, gay relationships in a game don't effect sales as we can see from the DA franchise.
  6. Dear Jira, Here is a valuable argument: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mpdzdhm9ZUk Kind regards, Longknife Lol..that did make me laugh But Longknife are you suggesting that the utterances of love, now and forever, in that video weren't sincere and that they didn't emotionally move you?
  7. If romance is included in the game, then just don't pursue it if you hate it. Simple. I just don't understand why people want to be ABLE to interact with their companions and world with every known possible human emotion (anger, pride, rage, frustation, sorrow, disappointment, envy, regret, satisfaction, fear, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.).... but have a problem with love, lust and passion. That seriously does not make sense to me. You are not the only one I dont make sense to me either... And the anti-romance side dont state out many valuable arguments. kind regards, Jira I also agree with you two
  8. I understand what you are saying and I can see why it makes sense from your perspective. But the fundamental question is "why would a person want sex in an RPG ". This will differ from person to person. For me I am lover of the immersion of RPG. I can spend up to 100 hours playing an RPG. You form an virtual empathetic bond with your character in the game if its good. As someone who use to Dungeon Master in the original D&D pen and paper game I know how seriously people take there characters. We know its not real but its still important that you can define there actions, how they look and what the game allows them to do. So its perfectly logical that you would want your character to have sex with other characters. It adds to the overall experience of immersion. Many fantasy sagas, like the original Conan books, sex was ubiquitous. I love the Conan world so part of me wants to act like him when I play a game that represents his universe Finally you can't use the argument "Sex in the game can't be something that actually appeals to people, its just a pixel resolution with a few programmed responses". I could easily make a counter- aargument " why play a game with magic, monsters and strange quests. Its not even real. What possible reason would you enjoy such nonsense" Of course my last point doesn't apply as people play RPG for a variety of known and personal reasons. And most of us love them as our favorite gaming genres But this is basic sex and flirting. Basic sex and flirting can be fun, and you don't need to be attracted to someone to understand the appeal of sex and flirting. FFS you can watch two people having sex or flirting well (as in both are witty) and actually enjoy it. I can roleplay this BECAUSE it's somehow funny to see the Courier and Sarah Weintraub use sexual innuendo in conversation about leather suits. But watching two people be romantic with one another? Watching them feel madly in love with each other, staring longingly into each other's eyes? Very boring, and sometimes downright annoying. And this is exactly how I feel. I don't enjoy roleplaying romance. Sex or flirting? As long as it's not constant, in-your-face and overboard, fine, but don't try to make me have an attachment to another character please.... I see what you are saying and I agree. For me I am only talking about sex with characters in the RPG, like Isabella( DA2) and Viconia (BG2). I don't look for some kind of real romance because its just a game and there aren't real emotional feelings for me. But I do enjoy the roleplaying aspect and I did find both the ladies I mentioned attractive, even though they are just virtual characters

  11. This is clearly an insult, you are suggesting that people that want sex in the game must be sexual deviants I admit I am a sexual deviant. I watch porn and go to stripclubs. But I can understand why others would be insulted as this is not a positive view for many Secondly you seem to think that your definition of an RPG is sacrosanct and we can't deviate from it. You say that your view of romances in RPG is fact, its not. Its your opinion and subjective. What is fact is that the poll is clearly showing that most people want sex and relationships in this game. So you need to deal with it, sorry Thanks for proving my point about the deviant thing? Like I said earlier, it doesn't matter what 200 people out of 30k want. This is Obsidian's game, not the people's. You donate they create the game they want. They aren't obligated to put romances in based on 300 person poll. And they don't like romances. Romances are bad in RPGs. They've never really been good. It boggles my mind that people can't see this, but my guess is they're too busy fantasizing about a sexual relationship with an inanimate object. It's weird. I should have added that I don't think I am sexual deviant, but by your definition I probably am. I watch porn, go to stripclubs and like to have sex with attractive virtual characters in my party when I play RPG . I am fine with this, to me this is normal. I see your point about the forums and even though you can't say that this poll represents the overall fanbase you shouldn't underestimate the importance of official forums for any game and how much influence they carry. I am sure Obsidian does consider what people suggest in there posts if logical. Therefore this poll is relevant.
  12. @ Grimlorn You are a strange person. You don't seem to remember or understand your own posts This is clearly an insult, you are suggesting that people that want sex in the game must be sexual deviants I admit I am a sexual deviant. But I can understand why others would be insulted as this is not a positive view for many Secondly you seem to think that your definition of an RPG is sacrosanct and we can't deviate from it. 13. I like your post and it resonates with me For example, take BG2. How can any straight person facing the impending end of the world from a Bhaal child spawn not want to bed something as hot as Viconia or ignore her salacious advances?
  14. I'll be buying this game this weekend. I have been waiting for the first few mandatory patches that get released for every PB game I enjoyed Gothic1-3 (Arcania doesn't count ) and Risen 1 so this should be entertaining.
  15. What if people want an immersive RPG experience but also want to satisfy there licentious, deviant, sexual fantasies? The 2 experiences can be interchangeable. Besides the majority of people want some kind of sexual relationship as you can see from the Poll.
  16. This is my opinion as well.
  17. I voted for all of the above. I want relationships and I want to have sex in those relationships ( I'm not sure what would be the point of a relationship in a fantasy world setting without sex, to me this is a no-brainer) I want same sex relationships for those that are inclined that way and I want to have sex with companions that have large cleavage and are hot because I find them attractive in RL and in games. I noticed that there have been certain comments that to want to have sex in games with companions is weird or creepy. I am genuinely interested in why people think that?
  18. I voted for traditional Tolkien races, games like Witcher have proven they can still be interesting and since this is a new fantasy setting Obsidian can be creative with there implementation and lore.
  19. You have a good point, this is a compromise between permanent death and no death penalty.
  20. Okay but I suppose most of us looking are at the question in the context of the original cRPG like BG,NWN and Plancescape In those games you didn't just die in Combat and needed to be resurrected. You could get poisoned, diseased, turn to stone and any of these could lead to death or a character being incapacitated. So the role of a healer was critical to address these ailments. Spells like Resurrection didn't just add to the realism but were very important as death could be very common
  21. I fail to see how the suggestion is insulting in anyway to Obsidian. Any Kickstarter project is funded by the fans, what would be insulting if is a development team doing a KS project didn't have the skills or enough resources to either deliver what is expected to the investors couldn't get the game ready at ETA And now that development doesn't feel the need to bring in extra assistance from any other company, including ex-Bioware developers. That would be insulting to the fans.
  22. There must be some death penalty. Similar to BG and NWN, where you had to resurrect players that were killed or when you get Turned to Stone you needed Stone to Flesh. If not you stayed that way, certain poison should be able to kill you slowly and inexorably. Lets bring back the risk and required strategy to win combat. But please not the auto-resurrection after combat features that DA1&2 used.
  23. I agree. I enjoy romances. For me it adds an extra level of consideration and excitement to the choices you make, I would think "how will this choice effect my courting of character x" . I particularly enjoyed my relationship with Viconia in BG2, of course she was smoking hot !!
  24. No I haven't play ME in MP. But is that a example for bad coding? I know many stable single player games that become problematic in MP In fact one positive thing I will say about Bioware is that with DA1&2 and all the ME I had almost no crashes. The games were very stable. Isn't that a sign of good development skills? It's one thing to make a game stable and another to make it bug-free entirely. I agree completely. But now we are on a slippery slope. If a game is judged on bugs, and we are saying that Bioware developers aren't wanted because there games are full of bugs what do we think of Obsidians games, are we saying they are bug-free? My point is every game has bugs, and I still maintain that Bioware does have skilled developers. The issue for me has always been the "dumbed down" games they released from DA1 onwards
