As far as I am concerned, no Batgirl = no play. I thought Poison Ivy, Cat Girl and Talia al Ghul were really hot. But the whole game was very aesthetically pleasing, I am excited about the next one.

Its unusual but I agree with Volourn on this point, its irrelevant what caused it once he killed the daughter and her fiancé of the guy that failed to get him to keep his job. He lost any sympathy and moral high ground the moment he did this. Its like saying " lets try understand the causes of 9\11 because maybe it makes the attack okay". We know why 9\11 was perpetuated and the reasons don't justify what Al-Qaeda did( this is an example, I am not saying you said this). What do you need to understand about a cowardly murder? His manifesto is clear and there for you to read, so I don't get why you think we need to analyze his reasons anymore than we already do? He was a mentally unbalanced individual who posed a serious threat to society. He needs to be arrested or killed. Its not complicated.

I see what you are saying. I don't agree with the logic but I see the reason, its always makes me laugh when you realize the irony. People are opposed to authority yet they live and prosper in societies built on the same authority. It reminds of that pointless movement " Occupy Wall Street", they were opposed to banks and institutions that "enslaved" them yet used there Iphones, Ipads and other devices to get there message across and gain support. So people are fine to use the same structures when it suits them but claim to be "bitterly against them"

Design a monster.
BruceVC replied to JFSOCC's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Like I mentioned in the other monster thread, I'm hoping they give us some really exciting and different combat situations - a chase scene is something they haven't done before, but I think could work really well, especially if combined with elements of horror and suspense. I made an argument somewhere that respawns could work in this regard too: you reach the bottom of some evil crypt and disturb a certain tomb, and an endless undead mob starts spawning - too many to fight, you have to escape and bar the door behind you. Indiras post about Deathtrap Dungeon got me thinking about another monster in that book (the one on the cover) How about a scenario where the monster is gigantic but mostly immobile, protected by (acid pools/minions/whatever) with only one vulnerable spot - the leviathan could turn over in its pool periodically, moving the target area (and splashing those nearby with acid) and so forth. Yeah, classic cover and monster. I think that Deathtrap Dungeon as my favorite book. Later on you get a chance to return to Deathtrap dungeon in "Trial of the Champions" which was also excellent. I also enjoyed " Creature of Havoc " where you awake as a monster and need to defeat Zharradan Marr( its amazing I still remember his name). This book was unique as you need to use a code to understand what people are saying, as initially you can't speak common tongue as you are a monster. I remember how hard it was. Do you guys remember the 4 part book series called Sorcery by Steve Jackson? That was my ultimate gaming book experience at the time , book 3 rocked!! The Seven Serpents was brilliant -
There is absolutely no justification for someone to want to start killing random people even if he was a victim of racism. Imagine a world where every time we felt aggrieved we got a gun and went out killing people who were or weren't associated with the apparent bad treatment. Society would fall apart I have been reading the timelines on this whole Dorner saga, IMO he is a coward. His first victims were the daughter and fiancé of the guy who represented him when he lost his termination appeal in the LAPD. Seriously, why target the guys daughter if you have an issue with him? It reminds me of suicide bombers, they have issues with the military and political decisions of countries but they are quite happy to kill people that may have nothing to do with those decisions purely because they are soft targets. If you have an issue with the LAPD and are prepared to kill people at least get your guns and bullet proof vest and walk into a police station and start shooting and make a stand. But why the guys daughter, he knew this would have the most hurtful and permanent cconsequences and she was an easy target, yeah big man shooting a defenseless women and man There is no reasonable modern country or military who would award someone for killing a person who has nothing to do with the military objective so can we stop trying to justify his actions with spurious comments like " in another time he would be a hero", it make no sense and it is not applicable to his rampage Finally as I mentioned in other posts I live in a country that is relatively more violent than most countries in the world, we have about 50 murders a day and about 360 rapes a day, these are just some true statistics so you get the picture. We have a large police force. There are many cases of police corruption and police committing crimes. However it does not represent the overall police force who are committed and hard working. Everyday our police put there lives on the line and go to work knowing that day could be there last. We respect and admire our police immimmensely. People tend to lambaste the police yet they are the first people they call when there lives are threatened. Dorners actions don't represent the state of the LAPD, its silly and unfair to label the entire LAPD or try to find some reason for his unacceptable actions due to the LAPD Last point, these events highlight the sickness I see in certain aspects of the US society. Apparently there are websites that consider this guy a hero. I don't get it. Maybe someone can explain how anyone can consider the violent actions of a mentally unbalanced person as heroic? When did killing innocent people and killing police officers make you someone to admire?

Internet forums are a good place to have a fight with text for the most part, that's stimulation, and pretty fun in any case, heh. And this isn't too bad, you should see a football fan forum I can imagine, but I will say that IMO these forums offer a superior intellectual and maturity level around debate compared to others I have frequented, of course there are similar websites but not ones I visit as regularly. It was a refreshing change compared to my previous forum when I started hanging around here

The (catastrophic) intro until Flemeth + the somewhat more entertaining Isabela recruiting mission spliced in. Mmm, Isabela... While I applaud the decision to make the demo, the intro level wasn't exactly the best one Bioware's ever designed (close to the contrary, I'd say), and probably succeeded in turning off a lot of people who might have been on the fence otherwise. Mmmmmmm...Isabellaaaaaaaa...those boots and those great pirate tops...mmmmm
-
Good points, did DA1&2 have demos? Yes they did, and i thank god DA2 had one so i canceled my pre-order. ( But my ex-gf bought me its PS3 version as a birthday present... thank you karma) I support demos too(or ye'olde sharewares) A well done demo can give you details of how full game is going to be. They helped me countless time either not buying the game (latest exp. Omerta) or buying (exp. MG: Revengeance) Okay for me this is a tough one, so in reality Bioware lost a sale because you didn't buy the game due to the fact you found it lacking. Yet you are entitled pay for something that feel delivers an entertaining experience, so what is the right option here? I would say publishers and developers should stand by there products and release a limited demo, maybe 6 hours?

Dungeon Keeper 3 successfully kickstarted
BruceVC replied to Cultist's topic in Computer and Console
Nope TrueNeutral but you can't change your mind, sorry. The Moderators can correct me but as far as I know the forum rules explicitly state " members cannot change there opinions once posted". You ran the game down and said you wouldn't support it. Thats was your opinion back then and now you need to stick to it. But because I like you I'll send you some Youtube clips of me having fun and playing the game when its released -
He's right, demos are a bad idea, trailers that have no relation to the game are great. Human stupidity is an infinite resource. Although the stats are raw, so obviously there's going to be a difference in the nature of the games in categories: no trailer or demo, only demo, demo and trailer, only trailer. Making a demo is a lot easier for certain types of games, where as making a trailer with no relation to the game is expensive. "Magical interfaces" and 3D, this is the same concept, all promise, people get fooled, but then they fall for something very similar again and again. Mmm, I use to be opposed to Demo's but then I was told that by not having a Demo this would increase Pirating, and since I am bitterly opposed to Pirating I thought Demos may be a good thing. Now I am not sure if there are statistics that suggest they effect sales. Was there a Demo for successful games like ME3 and Skyrim?

Actually I do, there have been many debates on these forums and others that are based on intellectual discussion. I have learnt and continue to learn many new things about other peoples countries, cultures and opinions on a wide range of topics. Of course I also consult other sources but Internet forums can be a wealth of knowledge, so I am surprised you feel that forums like this offer you so little mental stimulation? You think his posts are really about making light of Russia? I don't think so at all, but I may be wrong
-
Honestly what surprises me the most about Oby's posts is that people from America on these forums actually respond at all? Not only are his posts a constant insult to your culture and history but nearly everything he says is factually incorrect, its incorrect. So not only is he completely misinformed he is a conspiracy theorist and you will never ever get him to concede or admit he wrong on anything he says. Trust me I have had many debates with conspiracy theorists and by there nature they will not recognize any source of information that you can provide that deviates from there myopic view of the world and history. Whats the point of having a debate with someone who is incapable of learning anything from your opinion? I would prefer to debate with my 6 year old niece

What a surprise... not. Yeah, thats the response I expect to hear

.) There's really no harm in looking for help, because it is a brutally difficult game. There are a few wikis, each one has its own strengths and weaknesses, but this is the best guide to classes I'm aware of, if you do try the game: http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/Classes Holy Smoke, that wiki has some excellent and detailed information. That will be my starting reference

Design a monster.

You don't care for monsters? JS really wasnt kidding when he said we old school RPG fans all have radically different tastes! Seeing some cool and unique monsters would be on my top 3 list of things I want to see in PE. I concur, I love the idea of meeting and fighting different beasts. Thats one of the reasons I love the whole AD&D\D&D universe, the huge variety of monsters. -
"cat bungalow" You really make me laugh sometimes

I hear you, the good news is played Sleeping Dogs as my first PC game with a controller so I am comfortable with it. I plan to use a controller for Dark Souls.

I want to play Dark Souls as I consider myself a RPG aficionado and I believe you can't call yourself an aficionado unless you embrace all aspects of a topic. The thing is I don't like repetition of levels or getting killed too much, so by its nature Dark Souls might not be for me. Yet many people do love it, so I faced with a conundrum. Do I play Dark Souls ? Dark Souls is a bit more action game than RPG (being able to dodge and block effectively is the biggest factor in success or failure,) but the RPG elements are a huge factor nevertheless. Levelling is more of an art than a given (you can overlevel for a particular area and thus have a very difficult time summoning co-op players to help with bosses,) and upgrading equipment is just as much a factor as level (there's technically no level cap, but every attribute tops out at 99, and each level is one point, so the max level for every class is over 700,) anyway, if you don't like extremely difficult games, you probably wouldn't like it, but all that said, you really have to try it to be sure. It's an intensely deep and complex game in terms of design and mechanics, and there's surprisingly deep and interesting lore, especially for a JRPG (admittedly, one aimed at western audiences, but popular in Japan nonetheless.) And technically speaking, there aren't levels. It's sort of open-world in that the whole of Lordran, the game's setting, is a huge continuous complex and there are few barriers to entry into areas that might be far above your level. There are also a lot of hidden, easter-eggish prizes the developers left for stubborn, bold or just plain odd players, like the Drake Sword and Astora's Longsword. As an aside, I wish I'd had it before armor threads (that is, arguments,) about P:E started, because the armor/costume design and the design aesthetics in Dark Souls are outstanding. Even though the boss/enemy armors can be a bit over the top, none of it is WoW-looking. Lord's Blade Ciaran's armor is among the best female armor design I've ever seen in a game. It's unfortunate that the only available official concept art is a poorly-shot photo of an artbook page. Also, Invaders are OP BS. I've gotten to the point where I just use the Playstation button to quit if I get invaded far from a bonfire. Otherwise, stock up on Indictments and hope the Blades of the Darkmoon are doing their job. Thanks for the detailed perpective, when I am ready to play Dark Souls I'll ask for tips from you guys. I don't want "cheat" information as I do enjoy exploring and learning about how the game is designed but just things that will mean I'll won't be playing for 40 hours to realise I have chose the wrong class and have to start from the beginning.

Well, it seems a tad small, but otherwise a fine investment.. I say go for it. Okay thanks for the endorsement, now I just to work out how to afford it
