Fear of women body in modern videogames
The point he is making is that they got to "share" through no effort of their own. So if some guy who was not part of that original founding group wants to play, does he have to build everything from the ground up? They did go through some effort, they used the legal system to get their practice and playing time I agree 100 %, what if I was very interested in a certain book club in my area that was housed on a weekly basis in a local library. I decided to join and found out it was founded by women and only had women members. I would be very offended if they said " sorry you can't join because you are male" Its the 21st century guys, lets try to realize and believe in equality

3 pages is still good, proves that this forum is at least a bit loose. Malc never underestimate the importance of morality in our modern lives, I don't think we can get reminded enough. The question is "do people pay attention" ?

Woldan are you sure someone didn't give you a small piece of paper that would have had an animal picture on it? You may have thought it was a stamp and licked it.....think back...are you sure?

What you did today
Or, in the winter, you wake up at 10am and think it's 10pm, because it's pitch black outside (cloudy). Nep you live further north than our Danish friends so what are the times the sun sets and rises for you?

What you did today
That must be incredible, we never get those daylight hours even in the heart of Summer. We basically in Winter now and the sun rises at about 06:45 am and sets at 6:00 pm. In the peak of summer the sun rises at 4:40 am and sets at 7:00 pm so I am envious, but I suppose we have sun almost all year which is very advantageous living in South Africa

Relationship/Romance Thread IV
I apologize. I was thrown by your phrasing is all. That, and I couldn't pass up such a humorous scenario. Here's the way I see it: How far off is it, really, from saying "Welp, if we're gonna die tomorrow, or the world's gonna end, then we'll try to stop it. But, tonight, I'm going to order the most expensive thing on the menu, since we have to eat dinner and sleep before tomorrow's battle anyway!"? Except there's a person involved, rather than some inanimate food. But, yeah. Confronting that kind of thing makes you think about what you can't do after it's too late, is all. Doesn't mean it's preposterous for people to not have sex just because there's world craziness going on. But, it's not entirely insane for them TO do that, either, and it's not exactly an arbitrary or abrupt decision when you've been through so much alongside someone. Yes you have articulated my point well, there are many examples of people who face stress and death and have sex as a coping mechanism. I mentioned this before but during the Blitzkrieg in the UK many people would wait in the dark while London was being bombed and have sex as a way to deal with the stress and the fact this may be there last night. I had a teacher who never knew his father for exactly this reason. So now we extrapolate this behavior to a game like Torment, the Nameless Hero is facing the greatest journey of his life and untold dangers and horrors. He is surrounded by people that are prepared to face death for him and he is attracted to and he has feelings for. Why would he not have physical relationship with one of them? Anyway I think I have made this point enough now Perhaps after all the times he has died, his manly parts no longer function? Maybe, but I am sure I remember a part of the game where he mentions everything is in order? I may be wrong

I hear what you are saying Alan but do you really think that the outfits of characters like Viconia and Isabella are disrespectful to women? You have to look at the reasoning for it. I like Isabela. I think she's a strong character, and the clothes she wears fit her character. Many, MANY people have (incorrectly) dismissed her as nothing more than a sexpot. Part of what makes Isabela's character interesting as a female character is that she's written and created as a sexual creature not specifically to be sexually appealing to males. She's dressed that way because that's the type of character that she is, and it's consistent with her character in that game. If Isabela looked the way that she did, but did not have the character to go along with it in an appropriate way, yes I would have considered it disrespectful and unnecessary. It's would come across as (yet another example of) pandering to a very specific target audience. I don't think this is necessary, and actually think it's a net negative to growing and expanding gaming in general. That said, I do consider Isabela's dimensions to be a bit outlandish. Her dress and attire would still work (and be sexy) even had things been scaled down somewhat. BioWare is hardly exempt of this, and it's something I do hope changes some more. Something like Aribeth, however, is the type of thing that makes me roll my eyes. I didn't mind it much a decade ago, but I think it's pretty stupid now. I have no basis for Viconia's outfit, however. The only one I know of is this: You make some good points, just for the record I have several lady friends who work out regularly at gym. When they go out they sometimes wear boots, mini-skirts and tops that compliment there features. They look really attractive and they enjoy looking good. There attire is similar to Isabella and sometimes when we have out door parties near lakes or rivers they wear bikini tops with hotpants. They would be insulted and laugh at me if I suggested what they are wearing is demeaning to women. I know you aren't saying this I am just questioning the view that a women wearing clothes like Isabella is really unnecessary? Even if a lady wants to wear clothes like this if they feel comfortable?

Given the interval of my reading of that forum teeters on months, not indicative of much. I assume the romance one is still going as well. Yip, the Romance\Sex thread is seeing a little revival at the moment

Oby for once I agree with you on a topic. I am a huge supporter of the aesthetics of the female form and how it adds to a game. So I hope we see more Isabella type female characters in PE than Cadegund who I find boring.

You found it unrealistic that someone could develop a romantic interest in someone else and not immediately have sex with them? My opinion is roughly the opposite of yours. No I found it unrealistic that person could traverse the planes, meet alien creatures, kill demons, discover he is immortal but somehow not have sex with a party member who is inextricably linked to him and he is attracted to The Nameless one is inextricably linked to every one of his party members. Did you find it unrealistic that he didn't have sex with Ignus? The inextricable link is not necessarily linked to an urge to fornicate in any of those examples. Including the example of Annah. Including the example of Grace. And most of what you've written there has absolutely nothing to do with sex. He traversed the planes and killed demons so obviously he's going to want to have sex? Complete nonsense. And the idea that love implies that two characters will have sex immediately is a very mass media influenced one. You clearly didn't understand my point so I'll explain it slowly. Sex is normal and in times of stress sex is a coping mechanism. We already know that the Nameless one had relationships with people so logically he would have had sex in his travels, you mustn't see sex as taboo in Planescape. If he is on this great journey of self discovery and gets to the point where he may end his existence he would obviously want to experience some sort of physical closeness to a member of the party who he already had an emotional connection with . So yes the logical corollary of this would be sex. In my case this was with Annah. You seem fine with the parts of his personality and actions that include killing demons and visiting strange worlds but the thought of the Nameless One wanting to have sex is nonsense to you. No offense but I find your view on this matter bizarre I also like my RPG experience to be similar to the fantasy books I read and enjoy. I like Conan and in that world he has sex with various people and it makes sense. Oh and I would have liked to have sex with Ignus if there was an emotional connection but for me there wasn't

Games we obsess over
It has been interesting seeing the games that people have replayed. I have never played any game more than once in my life. The main reasons being I don't play RTS which I imagine would have variety in the endings and I find in other genres once I know the ending then the excitement is over

Disappointed
Why questions someone's tastes? People have different opinions about the games you like or hate. Exactly? If you post your opinion on a forum, I would think it would be expected that people would agree or disagree with it. I clearly side with the latter. 100 %, isn't that one of the main reasons for a forum. To stimulate debate?

Richard Garriott + Spiritual Successor of Ultima Online
Oh yee of little faith But yes I have a few reservations, but I can't be anymore disappointed by him than certain other companies in the last few years. So I am happy to be part of the cheer-leading squad at least until the game comes out and we can assess it properly
