  1. Judging all TV shows like "Here comes Honey Boo Boo" or (Insert Jersey reality show) is just plain stupid. I do have to chastise you for not including Dexter on your list however, that show is excellent. Most of my time is spent studying, working out, or other things, so I have a hard time catching most good television programs. The only thing I loyally watch is Doctor Who. Seriously whats the purpose a show like "Here comes Honey Boo Boo" ? I could only stomach watching it for 20 minutes, it made me nauseous
  2. I've noticed on quite a few forums with some people deriding TV shows in general, probably due to reality TV, but there is an abundance of good shows to watch. I have a tendency to focus on a about 5 or 6 tv shows every week as they air, and then catch up on other shows with a series marathon during a week or weekend when they're nearing or finished for the season. I did that recently with Spartacus and did a Season 3 marathon and watched it over two nights. My next marathon I started this week is Once Upon A Time as it's nearing it's season finale. I agree, we are spoilt by choice on TV series You are one of the few people I know that also watches some of the unusual shows, like Once Upon a Time Oh I think you may have missed one. Have you seen Justified? If not please watch it. Its the best "cop" show I have ever seen and my 3rd favorite TV series of all time
  3. Buy over 9,000 nega-copies of PE just to spite them!
  4. That interesting, I was always under the impression the main reason for Beta testing was to report bugs to the Dev's. But I have never done it before so what you are saying also makes sense.
  5. Either way, I couldn't give a ****. In fact, I think I'm at the point of giving negative 10 ****s. Whatever happens, the fallout is sure to be spectacular. That would be an egregious mistake if Romance is left out. And if that happens I'll....I'll...I'll sulk, yes I'll sulk. So THERE Obsidian !!!!
  6. An impressive list, I loved Banshee. I recommend it to all, its very violent and HBO really knows how to create a prison fight scene. The albino in the prison must one of scariest antagonists I have ever seen. " hello my friend, I have missed you"
  7. "you're basically one of the most charming, strongest and intelligent people alive on the planet" You never know, Kaine may be
  8. @ Malcador I know all this information can be a little daunting but allow me to let you know whats relevant and whats nonsense. I don't want you to worry about anything unless I tell you its real. . By the way whats with this terrorist plot thats was stopped in Canada? Something about an attempt to blow up a bridge
  9. I am one of those people who have absolutely no interest in Beta testing a game, in fact I can't understand why people would do it as I believe it ruins the excitement when you play the full releases. But of course I appreciate people that do Beta test and allow for the game to be more stable
  10. That's my point. They've never done a RTS before. Why dismiss them so easily when we don't know their skills yet? All great RTS designers started with their first game. Give them a chance. I never knew you did reviews, if you don't mind me asking who do you do reviews for ?
  11. Unless you're the most charming genius athlete in your country, I'd say some of the other stats are a bit off too. heh Amazing how good a bit of editing can make you look
  12. Something to consider is did the lockdown in Boston make sense? Was it necessary? The primary objective of terrorists is to spread terror and disrupt the lives of countries that they target, in a way the lockdown was something they probably wanted as it caused major impact to the daily lives of ordinary citizens. Also the second brother was noticed by an observant citizen, not the police or due to the lockdown. Isn't it better for people to continue with there lives but to be aware of possible suspects. Life should continue as normal within reason, thats how you defeat terrorism? I am not saying if the lockdown was completely wrong, I am merely raising the principle of what is the best course of action when these tragedies strike
  13. Nah, I was pretty happy with the Romances\Sex in BG2 and the Dragon Age series so I don't expect the unreasonable
  14. Majority ? Hm, probably, think there was one of those horribly designed polls long ago that indicated that. Thinking about that, if the party is on a crucial assignment, I'd probably hope no one would initiate some romantic nonsense with one another - needless distraction from the task at hand and trying to fight alongside one's romantic partner probably diminishes effectiveness (think fraternization). I suppose it could be 'immersive' to some kinds of people. Realistically thats not how human beings behave, sex becomes a coping mechanism and a way to deal with hardships or mental anxiety. For example during the Blitz in World War 2 in the UK people were huddled together in shelters while London was being bombed. Sex was common, even though death could potentially have been just a minute away. I had a teacher at school who never knew his father as his mother had fallen pregnant in the dark during one of the German air raids. There are some circumstances where the whole "sex makes us feel better " won't apply but I can't see any around a party trying to save the world from a demonic entity
  15. I said at work that dany is contractually obligated to have her breasts out at least once an episode. But damn that girl is seriously smoking hot, and I don't mean the dragon fire
  16. There is nothing wrong with loving nature and being hippish. I love the vibe of a big city, I would go insane in a small town. But living in Johannesburg I am very fortunate as its literally 40 minutes to drive to get to a game reserve or go camping. So in a way I get the best of both worlds if I want to, the big city and the outdoors. Also I can work from home so I avoid most rush-hour traffic which often depresses and frustrates people living in big cities.
  17. Thanks, I feel better now. I did feel bad about what I said, I'll spend some time on RPG Codex because I may have been premature about my view Ehhhhh, I avoid the Codex like the plague too, so I wouldn't feel too bad if it's not your cup of tea. Hi Alan Where have you been, if I am not mistaken I haven't seen any posts from you lately?
  18. Thanks, I feel better now. I did feel bad about what I said, I'll spend some time on RPG Codex because I may have been premature about my view
  19. I'm not sure what bonktacular means but Sex isn't a big part of the books. There are scenes but I can't recall Sex being explicit and gratuitous?
  20. Er... I don't think 'Roid Rage is actually a super power. I'll take calm professionalism over looking buff any day. Yes and the success of the Chechen army in conventional warfare speaks volumes for how effective they really are
  21. Yes I love playing a Wizard or Sorcerer, so I am happy with that profile guess for me Yeah I agree, some of the questions don't really give you enough variation in an answer. So I had to answer some incorrectly for what I am. But this is not to be taken seriously, its just some fun But saying that, are you suggesting that you aren't a tree-hugger in RL?
  22. They also get early usage of the money, which they would not get otherwise (No preorder money early, unless it's a pay for alpha deal). That can be of significant benefit. I think I will probably up to $65 for the copy anyway, Gragt did pretty much sell me on it. Whoops, sorry Tigranes if I offended you. Did I mention I do enjoy the articles on RPG Codex, its some of the forum discussions on RPG Codex that I don't particularly like
  23. Okay I completed the questions as accurately as I could but for some I had to give the best answer as none of the answers were appropriate Lawful Good Human Wizard/Sorcerer (3rd/3rd Level) Ability Scores: Strength- 12 Dexterity- 11 Constitution- 11 Intelligence- 14 Wisdom- 11 Charisma- 14Alignment: Lawful Good- A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. He combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. He tells the truth, keeps his word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion. However, lawful good can be a dangerous alignment when it restricts freedom and criminalizes self-interest. Race: Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like. Primary Class: Wizards- Wizards are arcane spellcasters who depend on intensive study to create their magic. To wizards, magic is not a talent but a difficult, rewarding art. When they are prepared for battle, wizards can use their spells to devastating effect. When caught by surprise, they are vulnerable. The wizard's strength is her spells, everything else is secondary. She learns new spells as she experiments and grows in experience, and she can also learn them from other wizards. In addition, over time a wizard learns to manipulate her spells so they go farther, work better, or are improved in some other way. A wizard can call a familiar- a small, magical, animal companion that serves her. With a high Intelligence, wizards are capable of casting very high levels of spells. Secondary Class: Sorcerers- Sorcerers are arcane spellcasters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline. They have no books, no mentors, no theories just raw power that they direct at will. Sorcerers know fewer spells than wizards do and acquire them more slowly, but they can cast individual spells more often and have no need to prepare their incantations ahead of time. Also unlike wizards, sorcerers cannot specialize in a school of magic. Since sorcerers gain their powers without undergoing the years of rigorous study that wizards go through, they have more time to learn fighting skills and are proficient with simple weapons. Charisma is very important for sorcerers; the higher their value in this ability, the higher the spell level they can cast.
  24. I thought we didn't like RPG Codex because they were a bunch of condescending RPG elitists?
  25. The main points of contention (from a neutral) with the historical parts of Boo's version would be 1) A/H wanting to invade Serbia in WW1. It was by no means a done deal, and there is little doubt that their crown prince- a noted moderate- was murdered with the active collusion of some in the Serb government. A modern comparison would be Joe Biden being assassinated by an Iranian in Bahrain with Republican Guard involvement; it may be a pretext, but it was a justifiable pretext. 2) The Serb experience in WW1 is actually rather underplayed, they lost the highest proportion (probably around a fifth, as high as a quarter) of their population in the war of anyone, and by a fair margin. There were also persistent incidents of ethnic atrocities from both A/H and Bulgaria- though their severity is disputed. That is important background. 3) While the conduct of the Croatian 'state' in WW2 was utterly despicable (e.g.)- as was that of the Catholic church who actively encouraged forced conversions and the like and shielded war criminals post war- it was not universally supported by all Croats or all Catholics, much as not all Serbs were resistance heroes. Most prominently, Tito was a croat resister (and Hildegard's grandfather too, iirc). Again, that is important background. 4) The dropping in support for the royalist resistance had less to do with any deal with Stalin and more to do with their ineffectiveness and tendency to use resources to fight Tito rather than the nazis. Overall what you had when Yugo split was a recipe for disaster based on wounds that had never been healed, but only papered over by Tito's strong personality. When the split happened the Serbs simply didn't trust the Croats not to be oppressive (not helped by use of some nationalist imagery and support from Germany, given the experience in WW2) and the Croats understandably didn't want to give up majority Serb areas of their new country. In general you do not hear much of the background stuff because it takes some research, and because it interferes with the standard good guy/ bad guy narrative. As with most things there really aren't any good guys, and in the case of the Balkan Wars barely even any less worse guys. The Serb reaction- even if I'd still blame them most overall- is at least understandable (though not really justifiable) in historical context. I can certainly understand Serb annoyance at always being painted as the bad guys though, both given their history of being genuinely oppressed within living memory, people's general ignorance of that, and that both the Croats and Kosovans expelled large numbers of Serbs without much if any condemnation from the west. Ultimately though, asking a Croat and Serb to give reasoned explanations of the Balkan Wars is extremely unlikely to work productively. Too many recent wounds, too much refusal to admit bad stuff done by their side while listing bad stuff done by the other. Too many eminent truths that are only either eminent or truths to one side. Quite a lot of the Balkan stuff is quite similar to the Chechen and wider Caucasus' experiences- Chechens' experiences under Russian and especially Stalin's deportations provide historical context for their fight and attitude, and the 100ks of South Ossetian refugees- more than their current population by multiples- fleeing the Georgians gives context as to why they don't want to be reintegrated into Georgia. Wow that was an interesting post. Thanks for giving your perspective, as usual its been fascinating. I think you did a good job of giving a balanced view of the political reality in the Balkans. You did attempt to show the history from all sides.
