  1. Okay I'm going to donate $50 in the next 5 minutes
  2. I have been following this story. Hugo Chavez was a bit of a mixed bag from a good leadership perspective. There was no doubt he did a lot of good to uplift the poor people in his country and ensure the middle class got a good deal. But he was vociferously anti-western and didn't allow any fair political contestation in his country. He controlled the press and what his citizens really knew about the state of the Venezuelan conomy. He had no issues with aligning imself with anyone opposed to Western countries like North Korea. But he definitely had an entertaining and flamboyant personality. Who remembers the one time at the UN when he accused George Bush of being the Devil and leaving behind the smell of sulfur ( it was embarrasing but funny the way he said it)
  3. What Mod did it conflict it? I like the concept of this Mod
  4. I have had the privilege of being the best man twice. My advice is similar to what you are doing, treat the speech as you would an important presentation to a customer. Do your research and think what is practical and funny but avoid anything that may be even remotely culturally offensive. Practice it out loud , thats the best advice I can give you. When you say it out loud to someone or no one you will automatically refine jokes and what sounds good in the structure and give you confidence . Remember everyone should be at least a little nervous before doing a speech, to not be nervous shows arrogance. And thats never a good thing
  5. They all (exc the Britties, who always increase indirect taxes instead) have increased VAT, which is the classic consumption tax. Since two of those rises are directly referenced in the links and you've accepted it's the case with Greece (and it's a not directly on topic) I'll not provide more links, if you want to check it out yourself you can always google Portugal VAT rise (2011, IIRC) and Ireland VAT rise (2012, IIRC). VAT increases are particularly bad because they always hit those with less discretionary income hardest, those with discretionary income can simply stop spending- which, of course, is bad for the economy- while those who have little to no discretionary income find themselves with even less. Good points, I totally forgot about VAT I was seeing this from the perspective of an increase on personal Tax.
  6. Happy B-day What are you doing to do celebrate, a nice dinner or a night of drinking and debauchery? Or both
  7. You mean like introducing Emma Stone's character, then seemingly dropping her and never hearing from her again after your date? :D Yes, all the girlfriends in Sleeping Dogs are woefully underutilized and underdeveloped. I can live with them having the others drop in for a cup of coffee and never be heard from again, but I wanted more Not Ping in my life. She did get a small part in the Nightmare in North Point DLC (as mentioned, the story DLCs are fun, but really short), but that's still not nearly enough Not Ping for my tastes. My favorite date was the hot Russian hostess, that accent did it for me
  8. The Chinese government already controls what there citizens can see and search for on the Internet. International condemnation is actually what the Chinese don't enjoy, so this public naming of that Chinese military building being the source of many cyber attack is probably the best thing to do.
  9. Good article, I went to RPS to read this as I don't think your link is working
  10. Yeah I like this beast, what about if its only defense was powerful illusions? So then it could try to intimidate people with a form of subterfuge " Foul Mouth" Good name and appropriate
  11. Facepalm.jpg. Before posting nonsense try read "Capital" by Marx (or works by Lenin about this). True socialism is where no State exists. That sounds typical of Marx, a system that sounds perfect in theory but is completely unsustainable and can never be realistically implemented. I always wanted to live in Wonderland, but I had to accept it won't happen.
  12. They have: Britland Portugal Italy (recent elections notwithstanding) Ireland Greece Spain At the very least France and the Balts as well. While it is pretty stupid the ultimate problem was overspending in the good years, now they only have a selection of various poor choices. They've gone for the one which best matches the fiscal orthodoxy du jour, which is of course coming from the same people who completely missed the crisis (encouraged it, even) which is largely responsible for the problems being so bad. Thanks for the links, but almost all these articles discuss proposed tax increases or increasing taxes on the wealthy or new property taxes. I understand this and agree. But I am talking about tax increases for every person across the board, both rich and poor. And it looks like only Greece has implemented this
  13. Rewarding people for not working and punishing those who do does not lead to prosperity. For proof you can look at places like Detroit, Chicago, and California. The European crisis should also tell you something. But to be be fair strong socialist countries like the Scandinavian countries, or rather socialist hybrid countries, don't do that. They don't reward people for not working, but they do provide excellent public services like education and healthcare. And they do this through relatively high taxes. But most people work so the tax burden is shared. You can't implement a system like this if you have high unemployment, like South Africa, but the more I look at the various economic models around the world the more I feel that this is the most fair and equitable system overall
  14. I don't think he will. Oby correctly using "a" or "the" is not going to happen. "america was a zombie".... funny
  15. I enjoyed Risen 1. I remember the excitement when I finally became a Fire Mage, it was a real sense of achievement. And I agree that Piranha Bytes does do the whole open world RPG game well from an exploration perspective
  16. Ive always wanted to try absinthe just to see if it gets me all blotto. We get Absinthe in South Africa, if you drink it as a shooter its actually too strong and I can't imagine its good for your liver. But its good to mix in a ****tail. Also there is a common way of drinking it where you light the shooter and have it with sugar. But I still prefer Tequila
  17. But its nice to get all this feedback, it shows people care about your gaming experience
  18. This is no surprise and long overdue, it was revealed recently that many cyber attacks against large USA corporations have been traced directly to a building in Shanghai and all the evidence points to a unit of the Chinese military unit being involved http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/mandiant-report-fingers-chinese-military-us-hack-attacks/story?id=18537307 The Chinese need to address this scourge, they are well aware of there own government funded illegal activities. The Chinese do this to gain economic advantage from companies in the USA. It is unacceptable that the Chinese behave this way.
  19. Thats a good find Key, I hope this puts to rest any objection to supporting this project. I hope Alan and Gorth see this video
  20. To think this blimp almost became Belgian. Personally I think his behavior is disgraceful and unpatriotic, I hope France prevents him ever returning to the country if he leaves, as from what I understand he still lives n France. Or ensures he cannot get French citizenship again
  21. I think you're confusing what people who hype austerity measures say and what austerity measures actually do. People who hype austerity proclaim that companies are too nervous about uncertainty, so they are not spending money and that by cutting programs, more people/businesses will suddenly invest/spend money. They typically use immeasurable variables in their arguments(like "confidence" and "uncertainty") and engage in a bit of fear-mongering to advance policies that do not work very well. What austerity does is reduce the amount of money the government is spending, which reduces the total amount of spending going on in the economy. Austerity is typically a good idea in years where the economy is doing well, where the scaling back of government spending will not have as large of an effect as it would in a situation where people/business were not spending very much(like right now). The problem with austerity measures in times like these is that there is no guarantee that people/business will start investing to make up for reduced government spending, and can result in higher unemployment and less total spending(and often does, if you look at the results of European austerity measures). So austerity is doing exactly what it is supposed to do, which is to slow the growth of an economy. It is not helping an economy grow, because that is the opposite of what it is designed to do. Good points raised, but I thought I was saying almost the same thing. The Europeans haven't raised taxes as far as I know across the board as a solution. They are trying to enforce systems where people pay taxes and close tax loopholes, like in Greece. Are you guys saying that you don't think governments should cut spending? I am saying they should but austerity is not enough. You need reinvestment, and this can't only come from the government It needs to come from the private sector. How else is an economy suppose to grow?
  22. Okay that also made me laugh, good one
  23. You sound bitter, shame poor Volourn The good news is that no one is going to force you to buy Witcher 3 so you don't have to worry about investing in a bad product from naughty CPR. But I will keep you updated about the game as I play it so you feel included in my RPG experience.
  24. "dust monster from hell " funny
