  1. It's true, but weapons detract from that. Part of what makes Amnesia so great at keeping constant tension is the fact that you're completely helpless in a fight. All you can do is run away and hide, you have no means of fighting back. As soon as you put some kind of weapon in the player's hands (and, to the best of my knowledge, there will be weapons) part of that tension is eased. You can still have the tension of the unseen horror (a xenomorph in this case) hunting you that can appear anywhere and any time (making the motion tracker your best friend, as it should be), like in Amnesia, but putting a gun in your hand takes away some of the fear. On the other hand, if they make the enemy AI smart enough (a big if), and the xenomorphs quick enough, and limit your ammo enough, it could make for some great frantic battles where the xenomorph is hopping around from floor to ceiling at lightning speed and you're trying to shoot it when you only have 5 bullets left. They absolutely have to get the amount of ammo you can find in the game right for this to work. If ammo is plentiful then that will pretty much destroy all the fear and tension in the game completely. I hear you about the increase in tension in a game like Amnesia with no weapons but its also unrealistic. I'm busy with the latest one now and even though the house is full of guns and the protagonist is a skilled hunter he doesn't think to take a weapon?
  2. Shame poor you Don't worry I'm still your friend
  3. That looks amazing, I would love to do that hike. Imagine the view, I wonder how they get supplies to that teahouse? Probably airlift ?
  4. http://edition.cnn.com/2014/01/07/world/asia/rodman-5-craziest-moments/index.html I have been watching the hilarious and concerning antics of Dennis Rodman around his trip to North Korea. On a serious note I know he isn't very clever but is he also demented or on drugs? I was watching the latest interview on CNN with him this morning and what he was saying didn't make sense..it was embarrassing
  5. I would go further. I think that since controlling more than one character is confusing we should only play as the protagonist, pausing should be eliminated since it ruins the flow of the game and abilities should be replaced with real time hack-n-slash/shooting mechanics to reward player skill. That should do it! Brilliant suggestions, I hope Obsidian heeds your erudite words
  6. I really hope that PoE is a multiplayer gamer that also runs on next-gen consoles. That would be ideal and very convenient
  7. That doesn't help if I'm trying to sleep. Woldan wouldn't the ideal solution to be able to do weights while you are sleeping? Like some kind of sleep walking...that way you'll get rest and keep warm?
  8. Yeah I saw it 3 nights ago and enjoyed it
  9. Thanks, man. The hardest part isn't the pain, but I can't focus on anything properly. I can't do anything for more than about ten minutes at a stretch, so I'm flitting from article to article and TV show to TV show. This would an interesting pehmo... phenomenon... if I was more awake. Well you have my sympathies as what you are experiencing doesn't sound nice at all
  10. Nice, I hope you paying her or its slave labour which is outlawed in most countries Oh and welcome to the forums
  11. Walsie what actually happened to your back? Was it an accident? My understanding is that it was an elaborate practical joke involving a dozen chinamen, a zeppelin and a french prostitute gone terribly wrong. You funny Nep

  13. I had never heard of it before but it looks great for pastas, thanks for the tip
  14. So I'm excited as one of the presents I received for Xmas was a Biltong Maker. Biltong is a great South African local food product similar to jerky just much better http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biltong http://www.yuppiechef.com/mellerware.htm?id=7611&name=Mellerware-Biltong-King-and-Food-Dehydrator&ref=search So today I've started making my own Biltong, I'll let you guys know how it goes. It should take 3 days to dry out so I should be able to sample it on Friday
  15. It does boggle the mind. I wonder if someone can explain how this game could raise so much money...is it old school fans prepared to pay anything for that nostalgic journey or is it the sales pitch? Does this mean Sci-fi is the way to go for KS projects ...what's Star Citizen secret that allowed such prodigious funding It's really very simple. Their fundraising has been going on for over a year now which allows them to keep increasing the number of backers. The average amount per backer is just over $100 but I would guess a lot of backers have only backed for half that (me for one), the rest made up from the monthly subscription for their backer "inside" look at the design and development of the game. There will also be a number of avid fans that have purchased multiple ship packages which can quite quickly add up to hundreds of dollars. The fact that they are very active on the forums helps also. Mostly it's as I said, time. With a very good developer presence on the site. Makes sense, thanks for the information
  16. I would also argue that Sunni dominated countries like Saudi Arabia have been friends to the West and assisted in the War on Terror. It wasn't always the case from 2001 -2003 but when Saudi Arabia was targeted by Al-Qaeda they changed there attitude towards extremism and starting acting directly against Al-Qaeda. They have been instrumental in preventing several attacks against Western countries. They didn't do this because they love the West or were concerned with protecting our concept of Democracy but they realized that the ideological objectives of Al-Qaeda threatened there way of life and there rulers. So alliances with the West made sense
  17. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-01-06-fan-made-morrowind-remake-is-shaping-up-nicely Holy smoke guys but check this out, Morrowind is being remade using the Skyrim graphics engine by dedicated fans and modders of the Bethesda community. Its going to be called Skywind. They have 70 people working on this project. It may be old news but its awesome news nonetheless You guys must watch the video to see how they doing
  18. Personally, I don't respect uniforms. I respect the men and and women that may be behind them in accordance to their actions. You spend some time in jail NKKKK? Maybe that's where your attitude towards the Police comes from...... Really? Someone has to have been on the wrong side of the law to be concerned about overreaching law enforcement? I'm disappointed in you. You right I apologize, I see what you are saying. You are concerned with abuse from the police and I guess what you saying is that human beings are fallible and that applies to police as well I have never been assaulted but I have had to pay several bribes, I know that's not the same as being assaulted but if you get cheeky with South African there is the real possibility of them getting violent. I understand this as South African police are under immense psychological pressure as they are target by criminals and we have at least a few hundred police who get killed every year

  20. Keep us updated around how you find Wizardry. I am interested to see if you can honestly play this type of game after playing something as modern as DA. For me I just can't get around the dated graphics, but I suppose I need to make a proper attempt
  21. Yeah, that's not really practical though. And I imagine -13 C weather will steal any amount off heat of me pretty damn quickly if I'm not dressed well. I didn't say you should exercise naked in the open right during a blizzard. Yeah, now that doesn't sound very practical indeed. Trust me Woldan Malc is right about this, there are 2 things I've come to realize that Malc is authoritative on. Cold Weather and the lifestyle and habits of Moose. I never argue or debate him on these matters
  22. I don't think that's going to influence the political decisions of the Iranian regime but I appreciate your positive sentient. Keep up the effort
  23. I hear you, I hear you. I assume you eat well when you go on your team "sports tours" to Vegas
  24. I watched God Bless America the other night and its very entertaining. Despite being a parody of American culture it does raise some real issues like the religious extremism that exists in the USA and the worrying addiction that some people have for social media and reality shows. Worth watching, a solid 68/100
