New backer here
BruceVC replied to KingBullGod's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Welcome, remember to always support discussions for the inclusion of Romance. This release of PoE won't have Romance but the promancer army is preparing and training for the verbal battles around Romance in the sequel to PoE where Obsidian takes the time to ask "how can we make PoE even better" -
dude...you seriously make laugh I see everyone disagrees with me so I'm prepared to concede the item wipe doesn't sound like a good idea. It also failed the much respected " Hurlshot Good Idea Barometer Test" so that only reinforces the bad concept

Yes, it is. Economy is how you utilize what you have, Sarex, and what you do with what you create. Production and R&D may be cheaper, but that doesn't translate into a real edge without a lot of other factors that prevent Russia from being a leading technological innovator. A very valid point, those are some of the economic challangers that face the South African economy. We don't innovate anything, nothing. And we waste loads of money. The auditor general found $3 billion of wasteful or unaccountable expenditure last year in the various government departments and municipalities. That's money that should be spent on investments in basically transforming the more previously disadvantaged rural communities

"United States' claims at being a democracy seriously threatened"
BruceVC replied to JadedWolf's topic in Way Off-Topic
We live in an age where technology allows us to spy on anyone anytime, I don't see why it would be difficult to have one organization directed at major corporations. Technically there should be one but they thread as if stepping on a glass floor. I thought you didn't support big brother watching as its an erosion of our privacy? -
Heh, I feel exactly like that a lot! Last night I called my former business partners and thanked them profusely for their consideration and declined their invitation. I love this house, this spot in the woods on Cold Creek. Then I slept through the night for the first night this week. I think you made the right decision. You do love where you live and person can be defined in some ways by where he lives. We find a sense of contentment. And no amount of money can necessarily bring you that same feeling. So even a better new job but in a different city doesn't mean you will be automatically happier. I imagine Steph is happy ?

Dishonored is an excellent game, very entertaining.

I don't know that anybody expected TESO to be bug free and now we have evidence why: Bethesda are hacks. This is a very interesting article and has serious future consequences if not addressed I have solution. You wipe every item and all currency from every player, you leave each player with a few basic items and 100 coin. This applies to every player, no exceptions. This may sound draconian as the obvious argument is " why should a player who hasn't exploited the system be punished ". But to be honest you can gain the items again. The reality is I don't know now how they are going to fix this imbalance. Its much harder to address then people may think And if they just leave it then it will start utterly destroying the game economy as time goes on, so rather do something now that may sounds drastic but will fix the problem And do this every time something like this happens? Because, trust me, this is the first, but it won't be the last time (and no, not because it's Zenimax, but because MMOs are complex software, even EVE has had it's fair share of similar issues and they take their in-game economy *very* seriously). If you can't detect it after it's happened you're stuck with it imho and you need to find a more creative way to deal with it. And Zenimax should probably do some serious auditing as to why such a game-breaking bug that was apparently *known* made it into production. Wouldn't be surprised if heads are gonna roll on this one (whether it's the right heads that will roll is another matter entirely). If they do go ahead and roll back *all* accounts (which I think would be a big mistake) they should at the very least compensate all players with a free extension of their subscription for their (Zenimax') ****up. If they follow my idea they need to fix the issue and then publically apologize to the players for the loss of items. A month or 2 free subscription may be offered due to the inconvenience. Some players may resign in protest but end of the day the issue would be resolved. I could live with that knowing the economy of the MMO was working properly

The next great war like any other will be resolved by the boots on the ground, like all the wars before it. I think you bought too much in to the American war propaganda or Discovery shows as they are called. You simply cannot win a war from the air. That has been shown time and time again in the 21st century wars conflicts. Also you presume too much about the capabilities of either Russia or the US, people here seem to think that the whole war capabilities of a country can be found out on the internet. That is either precious or stupid, I can't decide yet. Strange how did the West defeat Gaddafi? They used no boots on the ground and provided only air support.

I thought we already knew that lobbyists have influence on certain government decisions, also if you don't agree with the ideas of any political party you can just spoil your vote or not vote at all? I don't really see how the influence of big business on politics means a country can't say its not a Democracy ? -
Please confirm you aren't serious. I doubt he is joking

Yeah I agree, Ros makes some of the most rational, informed and reasonable points on these forums

This is bioware, you'll be a PG inquisitor. Now if you want to play as an Inquisitor Have you played that game, I saw it on GOG and it looks good? It's horrible, take my word for it. What didn't you like about it?

So basically you are suggesting that a government should agree to any ideological separatist movement in its country and divide the country up? Do you realize what would be consequences to that if you look at the various political parties and organisations that exist in the world that disagree with the incumbent government? The Ukrainian crisis is about the interference of Russia and its objective to break Ukraine up to achieve there buffer zone from the Western and EU aligned countries. Of course you can't allow this. Crimea is gone but the Ukrainian government can't and won't allow eastern Ukraine to follow the same route. Also you are mocking the Ukraine government for setting ultimatums, would you prefer they just used loyalist troops and killed hundreds of fellow Ukrainians?

I wonder what type of internet connectivity exists on this planet? Would we still be able to check the Obsidian forums....that's an important consideration around any move to a new country or planet

This, I am also not religious but I use the time to see family and relax. Its basically a nice long weekend

I would suggest you don't waste your efforts trying so hard to get under my skin, but since that seems to be your sole reason for posting here, such advice is probably wasted. Bonus points for the "insecurities" remark, though that's pretty close to breaking character for you. You must be pretty butthurt that I (and others) unmasked you for the little cuddly, fluffy fascist troll you are to get so close to an actual direct personal attack. But please, try to take what I'm saying constructively. :) Sorry for the late response, I was away for Easter Friday. I should have left the insecurity part out of the post because that has undermined the message as now its seen as a personal attack which wasn't my intention. Anyway I have made my point, I am going to try very hard to only discuss the debate

That's a problem for me, we have this issue in South Africa and Africa in general where some NGO's get donations to uplift a particular country and the money is spent enriching a certain politician or person. This doesn't always happen but it occurs relatively frequently I believe if you accept money for a charity or cause you must also provide some kind of auditable trail where donors can see where the money is going. I assume you are suggesting this is what Anita is doing, do you have any links that I can read around this?

Its more complex than that, see the link to understand how Heartbleed functions http://www.symantec.com/connect/blogs/heartbleed-poses-risk-clients-and-internet-things

Now, I haven't seen the show - and from the sound of it I wouldn't want to do that to my poor braincells anyway - but that family, and especially the mother, seems entitled to me. A "stay-at-home" mother with four different children from four different men. Oh, I will admit motherhood is daunting job, but let's admit it: she doesn't look like she is a very active mother. Or a good one. I found this gem on wikipedia "June Shannon herself has been criticized for her daughter's diet, which includes "Go Go Juice", a mixture of Red Bull and Mountain Dew that contains as much caffeine as two cups of coffee. The drink is used to get her daughter ready for pageants. Shannon has responded to this criticism, saying. "There are far worse things...I could be giving her alcohol."" Oh, that's alright then! Mam, you could even give her alcohol if you wanted to! Sure! If anyone would complain, you could just say there are worse things you could give her... Like rat poison! I feel sorry for the kid. She might be spoiled in some things, but she's pretty much growing up to be her mother's little mini-me. And would you want to grow up like that? No I would not like to grow up like that, since you commented on the show I'll be brutally honest. Its a mockery of what a family should be and how families should behave But the scary thing is the show is relatively popular, so it begs the question why? And this for me is the saddest point. There would be several reasons why people enjoy watching it but there is no doubt that there are people who do think the family is on a winning ticket and aspire to like them. Despite the obvious dysfunctional nature of what makes the show popular

The Finnish people are in danger of not seeing Miley Cyrus and Justin Timberlake as well. Poor innocent bystanders are going to be the hardest hit by those tough sanctions on Russia. An aside: Is there a nation on earth where there aren't 'reality TV shows' and crap like 'blah blah has talent'? This cow diarrhea seems to be everywhere. I also don't understand the unhealthy fascination IMO around certain reality shows. Some are really interesting like the cooking reality shows, MasterChef and Iron Chef, and Survivor as they highlight the skills of people or how people interact in harsh environments but shows like "Here comes Honey Boo Boo " I just find obscene I watched 10 minutes of " Here comes Honey Boo Boo" and it made me nauseous, the fact that people are genuinely interested in the life of a spoilt and precocious 8 year old amazes me Our whole society seems to be build upon worshiping the entitled, so why should that amaze you? That's a good question, I suppose the best answer is I don't consider the family of Honey Boo Boo entitled I think the reason that reality shows have such an appeal is that people are disillusioned with the reality of there lives and get a vicarious sense of fulfilment of seeing other people who are perceived as successful. But I would argue if you are happy with the direction your life is taking most reality shows are less relevant
