The difference is that the Euromaidan was spontaneous, decentralized, and uncontrolled. It was an actual protest. If you compare footage from the Euromaidan with the footage from Eastern Ukraine, you'll notice distinct differences, like the fact that the instigators of the protests are armed with Russian military-grade weapons, gear, and don't hesitate to open fire. Euromaidan protesters were not armed with these. You know who was? The Russian special forces that invaded Crimea and seized it. It's precisely the same M.O. and likely the same units. Basically, trying to equate Euromaidan with separatist attempts instigated by Russian special forces is oby-level propagandism. Good response and relevant points, but I believe that the comment now will be " no the Euromaiden protests were planned and supported directly by the EU " Also the original protests were also about the removal or the objection to Yanukovych. They weren't about the breaking up of Ukraine to suit the geographical or political aspirations of a foreign power. The EU never wanted Ukraine to be annexed as part of it.

Okay thanks for explaining, that's what I thought you were saying but I wanted to be sure. Sometimes I have misunderstood peoples comments so nowadays I rather ask than just assume.

No Gromnir I'm not attacking you I am just not 100% sure I understand your point we didn't think you were attacking, but we thought sarcasm were possible. http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/us/definition/american_english/pander now, given the game avatar in tomb raider looks like... https://www.google.com/search?q=lara+croft&rlz=1C1KMZB_enUS560US560&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=GAlOU4LfBZKryAS7jIKoCg&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=1920&bih=979 we suspect that bruce should recognize what we considers unnecessary pandering... or not. am trying with breadcrumbs... really big and obvious breadcrumbs. *shrug* HA! Good Fun! A sarcastic response is a form of attacking someone. Okay I think I get it, basically you are saying the female character in Tomb Raider is too perfect and represents the female form unrealistically? This would lead to people, and mostly men, buying the game just to ogle some attractive women character, well this would be one reason

is odd, but we have never played a tomb raider game. am thinking the avatar turned us off 'cause it seemed too ridiculous... unnecessary pandering. am gonna concede the inherent hypocrisy as we did play games with "comic book type badass" toons who, male or female, were drawn no less provocative or silly. am actually not certain why superheroes is ok for us, but final fantasy Giant swords, lineage 2 warrior girls in stiletto heels, and lara croft b00b avatar sets our teeth on edge. that being said, is not as if we is ok with all superhero stuff-- is still a fuzzy line which we has difficulty crossing. odd. HA! Good Fun! Hi Gromnir What do you mean by unnecessary pandering? Pandering to who and in what context concerning Tomb Raider?

No they didn't! That's Russian propaganda! No government would allow people to occupy their buildings, its a known fact per Obama PR mouthpiece (sheesh, at least I could remember Ari Fleischer et al's names, Obama's press secretaries are just so very bland and unmemorable), so obviously the Maidan types didn't occupy buildings. Good thing I never got around to replacing my irony meter after Bruce broke it last time. Okay I put my foot in that one, I needed time to consider what you had said Hassat. AlI I can say is are you sure the original protesters in Kiev were as well armed as the Russian backed people who are occupying buildings in eastern Ukraine? Also did they occupy as many buildings. I was under the impression the original protests in Kiev were mostly on the streets and only a one or two buildings were occupied?
-
I think the relevant question is would any government in the world, that wasn't involved in a civil war, allow armed protesters to occupy official buildings? And I think the Ukrainian government has been very patient with the protesters so far

And then you see an actually decent politician, one with his heart in the right place. One who has good factual knowledge, debates politely and doesn't desire to debase himself with cheap populism. And you know he's pretty much toast because he's clearly chosen the wrong profession. I have to say that's.....a jaded view... of politics wolfmeister

So you were born in 13th century England, then? What's your secret, Pilates? Think for just a second of what you really know about the snubby twats you are lambasting with such gleeful abandon—their life experiences, their backgrounds, their activities and involvements. Whatever mental image you have of "them", you might as well substitute it with a ****ing talking oven, because that's about as close as you are going to get at an accurate depiction. And hey, at least you'll get a chuckle each time you think of "them". P.S. No, really. What's your secret? I think she was trolling them, not 100% sure so don't take my word on it. I blame Bruce, he broke my troll-o-meter with his last few posts. I am honestly not trolling, please stop suggesting that

You can't attack people because of how you portray yourself I have been called a SJW but its not in a complimentary way. And that's fine because I stand by social justice principles so I take the criticism with the support I get

Don't trust the skull.

Its better than it looks, you have the director's cut, I take it? I do indeed, any advice without spoiling the story?

I would say it's privilege blindness, though the western privilege is more subtle than male or white privilege. You take safety, political liberty, freedom of speech, and other rights for granted, to the point that they are not valued at all. That's a much better way of making the point I was trying to make, " privilege blindness". I like that, I'm going to start using that if you don't mind. I like the concept and what it means. And what's interesting since I am looking at some of the complaints from someone who doesn't live in a first world country I agree wholeheartedly with that description
-
Really ? You've been preaching enough through these threads that the sides should be obvious. Yes, but the second half is about people being distrustful of their governments and don't stand behind what they do (not sure why you mention that unless you mean to imply that is required). He means the pro and anti-Russian debates we have. But don't worry Mor you are on the good guys side
-
So, people being cynical and untrustworthy about politicians is bad to you ? No I mentioned valid criticism is important and necessary
-
Would you say you are.... jaded ....

I'm about to play Deus Ex :HR, it looks good. I'm excited

Amazingly people in Western countries are allowed to think differently than what their masters think, no ? I don't know why you can call one side narrative and the other is truth, given the penchant of both for lying through their teeth. But some of the comments are more than just disagreeing with there government, in fact we should raise reasonable and valid issues about our governments. What I see is that some think that there are governments just cannot be trusted to anything right and they never stand behind what there governments do, its always criticism and not enough support or recognition
-
This is what surprises me the most. The amount of Russian support and anti-Western comments from people who have lived and benefitted from first world Western countries there whole lives. Sarex I understand, he is bitter and disillusioned towards the West because of a perception how Serbia has been treated. I don't agree with him but I understand. But the rest.....

okay that doesn't sound pleasant

How do you think your typical Canadian would react to that, I have tried several similar jokes to that to Americans and most of them don't get it
-
I always wanted to ask you how that landing at Normandy was Indira....you fought the good fight for Democracy then
-
I didn't assume you were being serious, thought it was some stupid joke you made to a stranger. Oh good, glad you got what I was saying. That's exactly it, but it wasn't stupid. People always laugh and its good to make people laugh. I do lots of other funny things like that but obviously I am careful who I do it with as I have told by friends it can be embarrassing even though its not. So I am mindful of the company I am with when I joke like that
-
Lol, you are too cute. You really think democracy as a system works? We don't think anything Sarex, we know it works for the majority of its citizens. Yes it has its problems but its still the best system we have for political stability And I'm not even talking about it from a USA perspective but from a South African perspective where we have real challengers with our fledging democracy

I really enjoyed it as well, it was LadyC who mentioned it and got me onto it I have just watched episode 7 of season 2 of Vikings. I'm loving it and all I can say is "damn those Vikings are tough" and I can think of very punishments worse than the blood eagle
