  1. Realistically any country that has people arriving from Western Africa should be concerned about Ebola. But we also know that one of the main reasons for the rampant spread of the virus in Western Africa is due to the poor healthcare infrastructure and the fact that many of the people infected are not educated and are superstitious. So the victims don't understand how to properly treat Ebola This shouldn't an issue for Western countries, we know that the experimental drug used to treat several infected Westerners has worked and we also know that Western countries understand the importance of the principle of quarantine. So even if Ebola does start spreading in the USA I am confident it can be contained and addressed so that it doesn't become this epidemic
  2. Wow, that sounds like my type of potato mix. Two types of cheese...I applaud you sir
  3. Damn those do look good, what's in them? Cheese and bacon bits?
  4. There is a real opportunity to sell this software product I support to a large government institution so I'm working from home today and preparing the SOW (statement of work) and technical questionnaire. There is real money to be made from dealing with government, its just much more complicated than the private sector
  5. But it would have to be an issue around something serious, like if the company was homophobic. I agree websites should cover whatever the hell they like. OTOH the point above seems to me to be the root of the problem in this entire debate - what do you consider to be 'homophobic?' I'm socially liberal and dislike bigotry. However, I suspect your idea of what constitutes bigotry and mine might be rather different. SJWs and the like use allegations of bigotry, 'isms' and phobias to shut down debate and determine the terms of reference in their favour. So I don't accept their rules much of the time because they are deliberately tactical. OTOH they will just allege the 'ism' du jour. As in, "I'm not even engaging with him... he's a SEXIST!" And so on. You have asked a very good question. What constitutes bigotry and how should be respond. I thought about it for a while For me if someone on a forum goes on some kind of intellectual or religious justification around why homosexuality is wrong I will disagree with them but still debate the point. I would still think they are a bigot and personally think less of them but I respect there right to believe that and make a point. But they would have to expect to receive criticism from a SJ perspective. This would apply to all forms of bigotry like anti-Semitism or sexism But there is a line around how a person can express there bigotry, so I suppose it boils down to what they say and the words they choose?
  6. But this whole " furore" around the update about Kingdom isn't an issue at all because those websites did release the update but it was delayed? So in fact this is a none issue. I still don't agree that if a gaming website doesn't release every single update about every single game within a time frame that means there is a conspiracy. I still believe that any gaming website doesn't have to release updates about any game if it doesn't want to. But a gaming website does have a responsibility to review games objectively based on the merits of the games and not let there opinions of the developers cloud there judgement. Because then there reviews won't be based on valid metrics So in the case of KIngdom I still don't see the issue or how this supports your view around the gaming journalist conspiracy?
  7. True, but it wouldn't be childish. If I was in charge of a website like RPS and I really had an issue with someone I probably wouldn't post anything about there games. But it would have to be an issue around something serious, like if the company was homophobic. Its optional what content these websites post
  8. That's my point, we seem to making assumptions. And that is not helpful if you want to base your argument on facts which I assume we all want to do?
  9. How do you guys know that those websites you mentioned decided to intentionally delay posting that trailer about Kingdom? Also how do you know if they did delay it was because of GG, I'm missing the connection?
  10. then ignore the posts and don't reply i do that, simple solution Ignore them, pal,i'm not there in other forums complaining about you exchanging your own views on a game or 'full of ****ing threads' of rants and opinions i should call them out as well so if you don't have any significant arguments about this game, you can leave right now yeah, they're more original than people being rude to those who want to tell their own opinions on a forum it looks i'm on BSN and not on the Obsidian forums,i wasn't aware of people being so 'nice' to newbies,no it's even worse than BSN,when i told my long textwall rant nobody complained, they either 1)Told that they agreed or disagreed 2)ignored my post and moved on the next one it's so hard for you? you jump on the throat of every guy who dares tell his opinion here? nope i never got banned on BSN,i post on whatever bothers me,Skyrim, oblivion, you name it Guys I don't mean to stick the knife in but this post actually highlights a real problem at times on these forums New people come here to make posts and they treated rudely. My advice is just to consider what you say to people you don't know on the forums. You may think you joking but that's not how the person see's it. You also don't need to post on any thread you think is silly to tell people you think its silly , just leave it alone. Once again I don't mean to lecture people but something needs to be said
  11. that's cheeky and you know it I assumed she wouldn't get it because somethings are lost in translation and English isn't her first language. She also seemed to be asking a real question. But I may be wrong, maybe she can confirm ?
  12. That's exactly what I thought you said earlier, so I did get it But that has nothing to do with this being a joke "rant" and that is what I was explaining to Qistina, she mustn't think this is a legitimate rant.
  13. Don't worry Qistina this is not a valid and real " rant " post like you made, this is a " false " rant post in order to highlight how silly some people think legitimate rant posts are. I explained this to you once already, but if you don't get it then so be it. Not sure I do get you, can you explain it again ?
  14. Don't worry Qistina this is not a valid and real " rant " post like you made, this is a " false " rant post in order to highlight how silly some people think legitimate rant posts are.
  15. False, I am a SJW. I am legion, I want you to not think that I am just one poster. That's you not seeing the big ideological picture. I know many SJW who I can guarantee you don't think that all white, males gamers are rapists That's a fact !!!
  16. Yes Gamasutra is a website where the "reviled" feminist Leigh Alexander posts on, so it has become one of the websites that many people on GG see as the enemy But the realty is its an excellent and informative website that discusses many important and interesting articles about the gaming industry. You should go there yourself and see, it offers a very mature view on all things related to gaming They do support feminists and are opposed to the abuse Zoe Quinn received but this is small part of what overall the website offers I used to be on Gamasutra a lot, until for every two pieces that gave insight into the game industry and PR reports there was one feminist one. Leight Alexander is Editor in Chief of (I think) it was the blogging section and she had no qualms taking down blogs to censor speech she didn't agree with. If Gamasutra wants to remake themselves from a developer hub into a feminist site, that's their right but if this is just her actions then they deserve to know what's going on. Its interesting that is your observation because that really hasn't been my experience. I think the number of feminist articles they post compared to normal articles about gaming are maybe 1 in 20? Just take at the website now and you'll see what they are discussing
  17. Okay we need to watch and see what happens. IMO we won't see many companies doing what Intel did for the reasons I explained, but I am not a real prognosticator and base my views on evidence and how business works. So lets see what happens with other companies

  19. I'm a SJW and I don't think you are rapist just because you are white, male gamer. I publically acknowledge that. There you go, your expectation has been achieved. Are you happy now?
  20. I hear you and that's a reasonable view But do you see the issue? Firstly as we discussed and agreed on without advertisements most websites will close down. So lets say your objective is get to websites like RPS and Gamasutra to close down for what they have said in the past on certain issues. And the way you would achieve this is through putting pressure on the likes of Intel to pull there marketing funding, this is highly unlikely because to pull there marketing due to an movement like GG that would mean these corporations would be aligning with a movement that is associated with sexism. And that's the point I'm trying to make. You won't find large corporations doing this as we can see from the apology from Intel So again I just don't realistically see how you will achieve your goal? The reality is the aspirations of GG are not as important or significant as the influence of movements that are opposed to sexism or espouse gender equality, like feminist movements
  21. But Volo what were you expecting from the outcome of GG? Do you think they will be able to close down websites like RPS and Gamasutra, is that the outcome you want?
  22. Its a bright new world Keyrock fulled with young and enthusiastic pioneers who have there own interpretation of history and events. The best thing people like you and me can do is just sit on the porch, smoke our pipes and reminisce about the old days and " how good they were "
  23. Gee that's a surprise, so is this still considered the solid victory that you were expecting from the outcome of GG? This apologetic response was inevitable. Considering the fact the perception that exists around GG. As I mentioned in previous posts corporations don't like to be associated with people or organisations that are in any way in contempt of social justice issues, its a bad image for them. So rightly or wrongly GG has a perception of being sexist purely because most prominent feminist are opposed to it But good find by the way, this is an interesting link
  24. I think they are delaying the release because they want to include Romance, it makes sense if you think about all the support for it
  25. That to me just sounds like some kind of excuse and justification for developers not having to be concerned with things like gender representation in games
