  1. Volo that is another strange point you keep making, why in the name of everything that is reasonable do you really not like Obama ...why would any Canadian not like Obama. You Canadians have some strange and weird ways of addressing SJ issues yet your country is a very tolerant and well respected bastion of liberal values and your PM as I said in the past is very inspiring Yet remember that story about those varsity students not knowing what Yoga was and the studio closing down. I lost a lot of respect for those students...how uninformed can people say they are?
  2. Dude you really weird ( and trust me I know because I am also eccentric ) but sometimes you make me laugh....like this video, are those Serbian soldiers
  3. Dammit THIS is why it f-----g sucks to get liberal justices on the court. It should not make a s--t all difference to her that the decision would be a set back to a President she supported. And the plight of the immigrants shouldn't even have entered into her thinking. This case came down to two things, did the 26 states have standing to bring the case and did the Executive violate the law. Well the US Court of the southern district and 5th Circuit Court of appeals said "yes" and "yes". The effect of the outcome should not be a thing she troubles herself over but it's clear she was worried about how this made Obama look and the poor benighted immigrants. The only thing that matters is what the law says. The only way we will all be equal before the law is when the law is equally applied. Here she is ready to turn the law on it's head because that way she will like the outcome better. Another problem with this is if Trump actually manages to get elected every time his SG needs to argue a case before the court there is a whiff of bias from RBG towards the President. It might lead to something embarrassing like demands she recuse herself. She really should know better than to talk ill of a Presidential candidate. No offense GD but hearing some Americans saying things like " if Trump becomes president I will leave the USA" is getting annoying and is just hyperbole and theatrics, Trump is a man, he is not going to destroy the USA The USA has fought world wars and has been through decades of Cold War and is overall considered the greatest Western nation in the world. The USA has great fortitude and resilience and has always persevered over external and domestic threats Yet suddenly " people cant handle living in the USA if Trump wins " .....I'm sorry but people are sounding like real drama queens. Where is that famous US equanimity and commitment to the country ?
  4. Was there an army base on Bahrain...Qatar is quite nice but not as good as Bahrain But I need to mention something important, I know you dont care for these details but its bothering me I went to Bahrain when I was working in Saudi for one of those 3 one month projects I did. If you have been to Saudi you will know the Saudi's must be the laziest nation in this earth....almost NO local Saudi works. They just pay for other people to work So my managers on this project were Jordanians, very friendly and just nice people. It was interesting because none of them actually liked the Saudis, they said they arrogant but like me they paid well Now these Jordanians use to drink in Bahrain and use the services of the Russian hookers but they were all married and to be honest they had no respect for women generally and absolutely no respect for hookers And they kept telling me these really crude and offensive jokes about women thinking I would find them funny and we have strict policies at work around codes of conduct and what we can and cannot ever say to customers so I couldn't even tell them I was offended by there humor And then to make things worse, and this was during the morning when we getting drunk and there were no Russians, they confirmed a story I heard about these illegal and truly reprehensible brothels in the Saudi desert that no foreigners are allowed to visit. These brothels are old school medieval structures and when hookers go there for these hectic parties they never get to leave...seriously they dont allow them to leave and apparently they get literally mass raped and horribly abused...to death which can take weeks and the girls are kept in chains or in cages but they never escape because these isolated brothels are in the desert. Of course this is illegal but its apparently something that happens So this made me feel very uncomfortable and when we met the Russians I was very detached from any sexual experience because of what they told me so I paid my date but spent the 2 days partying and drinking with her...no sex but she was very good company...but the guilt never left me of what may befall these girls I needed to tell you this because you are one of the forum members who I do respect due to what you have done with your life and your military service. If you said to me " I cant believe you have paid for services of hookers or strippers in your life " that wouldn't bother me as its true but I dont want you to think I paid for sexual services with ladies in a country like Bahrain knowing how some of the girls get abused...or just never get to return home So in closing, yes I absolutely do support gender equality and my time with the Russian girls was more about companionship I know you dont really judge anyone on these forums as you keep your own council but I wanted to explain what I really did in Bahrain so there is no assumptions about my integrity ( as much as people think I have, I do and some peoples view on me does matter )
  5. The NY Times write up and profile of the study: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/12/upshot/surprising-new-evidence-shows-bias-in-police-use-of-force-but-not-in-shootings.html?smid=tw-nytimes&smtyp=cur&_r=0 Although the study finds that there is no evidence of increased biased in use of lethal force against blacks, there is significantly more use of non-lethal force towards blacks than whites when taking into account similar situations. Leferd I have to honest, I failed to get anyone to support BLM for what they stand for.....and they have a degree of legitimacy which makes the lack of support a little frustrating So this looks like going forward only a few of us will be supporting the concept of BLM or at least saying what Gromnir did which is progress as he says its got some claim I obviously see things differently but the main issue from forum members is they said BLM are hypocrites and even racist ? Racist doesn't applicable but thats how people feel?
  6. Ok, I just gotta say that's a bit classless. Low blow man, you shouldn't throw vitriol casually like that over the Internet. It is hard to convey tone and what would be softened by the right playful melody becomes horrible by the quiet of words without rhythm or anything that could imply tone. But I know that we all love each other so this is more of an FYI of how you coming across. No not really Drowsy and I dont care much for each other, its nothing personal...its more ideological From my side I reject the idea he refuses to accept responsibility for the war crimes Serbia committed during the wars in Bosnia and Kosovo. I gave him support and even explained its therapeutic and makes you a more liberated person, he still refuses to acknowledge it ...you even have a criminal court in the Hague where they charge Croats, Bosniaks and Serbs. The Serbs make up the greatest number of people facing charges https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Criminal_Tribunal_for_the_former_Yugoslavia Other people on this forum seem fine with that but for me its about the principle. It would be like a German denying the holocaust. Now no one is going to blame Drowsy personally or hold this against Serbia but a person needs to accept historical responsibility for these types of things there country was involved in. I have a real issue with this type of denial And of course his views on things like gay rights and general contempt for SJ issues of course annoy me but its more the denial of what Serbia did that is the big issue
  7. WOD I want to recognize your efforts around posting more positive stories about Trump No else has noticed this but I do read what you post, as I said to GD earlier in my opinion its not helpful to generalize about either candidates as for me its also a minor insult if we say the candidates are useless what about supporters ? But for you I imagine you must be aware of criticism towards Trump and some of it real but its obvious Trumps whole strategy was intended. I just think you guys deserve better than Trump ....he wont win the election, its not possible. If he does lose would that bother you? I wont lie I will be extremely disappointed with the American voters if Hilary doesn't win....but its unlikely
  8. You have done some impressive traveling young grasshopper I have worked on projects in most Sunni states in the ME, yes they treat you fine as a white person but I didnt like any place because of my views on SJ I felt the most comfortable in Bahrain but that was because of the bars and Russian hookers, they were the best people for me to have a normal conversation with and this is hard to believe but meaningful conversation is important to me
  9. I'll be honest I have no interest in seeing the Far East, I still love going on holiday to Europe and the UK because there is always so much to see And the USA is always amazing especially when you realize each state is like a different country its very exciting
  10. Now thats an interesting statistic, two very different people in the USA both dislike Mississippi....what was your reason
  11. I've got 40. I've been to all but N. and S Dakota, Minnesota, Conn, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Delaware and West Virginia. One favorite? No way I could pick just one but Washington, North Carolina, and New Mexico would be at the top of the list Least favorite? Mississippi 40 !!!! That must be the record, what didn't you like about Mississippi
  12. well, am betting the % is lower than say the number o' english teenagers who believe winston churchill is a fantasy character. am willing to bet hard money that the % is less than the number o' russians who believe the chelyabinsk meteor were not a meteor at all-- top choices seem to include a US Govt. conspiracy, Russian Govt. conspiracy or aliens. HA! Good Fun! But Gromnir there are some very nasty and racist things people say about black South African men.. And some of the comments are just not worth even debating
  13. I have a much better idea...sex with you would make me feel even better than a boy And please no need to think the distance is a problem, remember I come from white privilege so money is no problem
  14. 37 !!! Holy Smoke thats amazing I have been to 6 states, my favorite was Georgia and Nevada Whats Kentucky like..and have you been to places like Alabama and Mississippi in the Deep South, I want to visit them
  15. This is considered a highly offensive thing to say, I'm not sure if its even true in SA ?
  16. Sure, let me know if you change your mind
  17. But Volo he does have a point For me it was Game of Thrones latest thread, you guys over-analyzed that series like nothing I have ever seen Sometimes in life its best just to not find intentional fault for no reason that makes sense
  18. Guys in the USA, here is an interesting question How many states have you traveled to in your lives and which were your favorite apart from where you live?
  19. Varana please remind me again, you are a history lecturer?
  20. Sorry my friend but this is one time you will have to admit you wrong These types of posts are very relevant and interesting because you share your life experiences This is not about people having to agree with you, it goes way past that. Its very interesting for me, I tell people in SA about you because many black South Africans think white people killed every Native American when they landed....so they think Native Americans dont exist and they not being facetious they just have limited understanding of history because of Apartheid
  21. Yes but I can buy it online and get it delivered to you? Dont worry about the money, consider it a gift And you may be wondering " why would he want to buy me a present ", my response would be has no one ever bought you a present ?
  22. Thats not a very flattering way to represent either candidates? Flattering? No. Accurate? Oh yeah. But on a serious note, a person doesn't have to like either candidate but cant we respect the institution of the election? Its the principle An election like this in the USA is unique, it is too important to dismiss all the various people who support either candidate by name calling
  23. WOD I appreciate your honesty on topics, I just want honesty. I dont get offended and I think you and I have a very good forum relationship? Do you not like the UK and why are you negative about the EU? I don't know why you think I don't like UK, and I think I expressed my views on EU previously. But the short answer is I believe in self-government. Okay but just so I'm clear when you say " self-government " can you go into detail and give examples
  24. I think Mrs May is far too canny a politician to do this, indeed her moderate stance in the referendum is probably what has almost guaranteed that she will lead the party in the immediate future. By playing the middle of the road she is appealing to a rather large demographic who are sick of the extremism and rhetoric, and also taking over the role that New Labour occupied. Now defining what exactly our position will be going forward as a trade partner, well that may be a minefield to tread, and one I don't envy anyone attempting. The expectations and factions are probably just as entrenched as those being brought into the referendum. I don't think anyone will be satisfied in the long term. That said I also don't believe Mrs May has the grit or sheer bloody mindedness of our last lady premier (who does?) and thus we cannot expect as good a deal with Europe as she might have achieved. " extremism and rhetoric " ? In the UK...what are talking about. Lets not embellish the reality of politics in the UK Nonek.,....our American friends are going through " extremism and rhetoric " with the various new political changes But to suggest that is happening in then UK?
