  1. tried Underrail, and so far it's been a miserable experience. I just can't get into it. for a game that emulates Fallout as much as possible it sure's doing a poor job. I don't mean to say that this game is terrible, but I can't say it's good either. so far it plays like a bad mod for Fallout: one where the first cave with rats is made 100 times bigger and more difficult to navigate. maybe it's the build I've chosen, but even the rathounds (or w/e they're called) give me a hard time. I can't evade their attacks, I can barely run away from them and I can't kill them with my pistol. obviusly I don't have the money to buy better gear (one piece of equipment runs in the thousands, while I have 200 credits to my name). am I supposed to rely on melee combat until a certain point in the game? if so, why didn't one of the NPCs say so in the beginning? if not, what am I supposed to do? I have capped stealth, evasion, guns, melee etc. and I still can't survive most of the fights the game throws at me. I am forced to cheese my way around most battles (like locking myself behind a fence before the hounds can get to me and shoot them all for 20 combat rounds). did I go in the wrong direction? my first quest says I should go to these caves, why are they so f'king hard? why is there a boss fight in the starting location already? what is a player supposed to do if he's not like me and didn't loot everything in the 10 km radius (read: doesn't have molotov ****tails, grenades and all that stuff). or is using psy skills obligatory? the game seems to imply as much, but it's too late for me now, I have to either restart the game or keep going, trying to level up my char and catch up. and this game could surely use a map screen.
  2. pretty much the story of my gaming life: whenever I am the best player in the game - we lose, because the rest of the players on both teams just aren't interested in playing. played 15 matches today, 15 losses, topped the score board in 4 of them
  3. for me the best moments in games are usually those unscripted ones that people call "emergent". they always impress me the most. off the top of my head I can't recall most of them, but one I got on video. I don't know if in this particular instance it was unscripted actually, but it caught me completely by surprise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcFLHJXi_Gg I had a side-mission - to free several slaves - in a quarry, controlled by Uruks. it began as any other side-mission, but after a few moments I noticed that Uruks weren't attacking me for some reason, instead fighting someone else. it took me a moment to realize the slave workers rebelled against them triggered by me appearing there. at some point Uruks became overwhelmed and started running away. until then I had never seen either of these things happen
  4. I can't believe people still care about Mafia games. they weren't that good to begin with (well, I guess the first game appealed to people who wanted to play something like GTA but other than GTA)
  5. yeah, I got it mixed up with the 40% InXile will provide, and apparently the 1.25 mil. from some other sources
  6. yeah, apparently Fig throws in a substantial amount of money (in case of Wasteland 3 it's 40% of the goal I think?)
  7. https://www.twitch.tv/obsidian/v/93217819 here it is, stream begins at 12:20
  8. don't we all
  9. when you all say "remaster" you mean remake using the PoE engine, right?
  10. probably my favorite line in the whole game: one of the rare occasions - the whole crew in one shot: and a bird's eye view: I didn't know Kreia talks in her sleep (and even then she's lecturing me): yeah, that's right, bow to your new leader: I'm pretty sure Disney stole Kylo Ren's physical appearance from this dude: and to top this off:
  11. Fallout 2 was my first RPG, and in that game you don't even have to fight. I didn't realize how bad combat in it was until I ran across an Enclave patrol that destroyed my melee character (even though now I know melee builds are viable, just need to be smart about it). I accidentally found the "win" button in Fallout 2 early on (eye shots with precision rifles), and that made combat completely broken. in any other game I would've stopped playing, I stayed for locations, quests and dialogues
  12. while I can see where you're coming from, and learning how a game works can be rewarding, ultimately as soon as I learn the most effective way to build/play my character I soon lose interest in the game. it basically kills any desire in me to replay it. I'd much rather have the ability to play through the game with any class/build and not worry about being stuck on some encounter mid-way through the game. as a recent example, I almost quit KOTOR 2 trying to play a dual laser pistol build. until you have a few Attack+ feats learned and DEX well above 20 playing it is a nightmare. I was saved by my other force users in most fights, but there are instances where you have to fight alone, and there were several fights I just couldn't beat without some "cheese".
  13. to be more specific, the Codex wants attributes and character progression to be designed in a way that allows broken character builds. your character is too weak and you cannot advance in the game? your own dumb fault for not reading tutorials/guides. your character is too powerful and blazes through every encounter? your own dumb fault for developing him that way. basically, that's what most people find enjoyable - or so they think. which is absolutely not the case. I could never understand this irrational position, but I also think it would've never been an issue if Sawyer hadn't given any insight into how he designed his systems. people just started to freak out even before the game was available, and then it was so much easier to find something validating their complaints. I mean, they think Arcanum is the best game ever, and that game had probably the worst combat I've ever experienced.
  14. having the game in windowed mode while launching it and triggering interplanetary travel seems to have fixed this issue for me. unfortunately, when in windowed mode the interface becomes less usable for me, but it's nothing more than hitting Alt+Enter every now and then
  15. I don't know why, but KOTOR 2 makes me laugh (in a good way) so often. just now I installed the pacifist package into HK-47, and what happened next caught me by surprise too bad you can't leave him like that
  16. ^I know mr. Boyarsky and mr. Cain would love that
  17. made in RPG Maker? I remember seeing very complex games on that engine (Laxius Power comes to mind)
  18. small update: the game now does it upon launch when trying to render the main menu. I am beginning to suspect it's two separate issues.
  19. juice is just pure evil, never drink even the fresh stuff, it's like a sugar bomb
  20. I feel the "investor" thing is there to distinguish it from Kickstarter/Indiegogo etc.
  21. yeah, that's the whole point. I did say I like it more despite being a different kind of game. they're both still Obsidian RPGs, so I don't think it's unfair to compare them. incidentally, I like oranges more than apples. as for combat in KOTOR II, I'm playing a gunslinger, and it's anything but unoffensive. I am only now beginning to be any kind of threat to enemies, after getting ALL ranged combat feats and my DEX to 30. it's painful when you see your character miss 80% of all attacks, and then watching enemies with vibroswords deflect the other 20%
  22. I like New Vegas more simply because I prefer this type of game to "classic" PC RPGs. even though New Vegas arguably has worse writing than KOTOR II, I still have more fun with NV - as a game. KOTOR II works better as an interactive novel (this is what those hacks from Tell Tale Games should be striving to make)
  23. Atton can't go one day without getting into trouble. Mixing booze and women will do that to you... also, this happened: so embarrassing... I'll keep the outfit, of course
  24. seriously, if KOTOR II had a better combat system, it would be my second favorite Obsidian game. the writing is just that good, I'm amazed how fun it is just to follow dialogue in this game. it's basically PS: T in space if you ask me
  25. yeah, I'll see what people say after it hits Early Access and then, maybe, I'll grab it. InXile make mediocre games IMO
