Not in the 1C / Cenega regions. If this is another "wait a few months" scenario I'll just keep my money and watch a Let's play.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
Yes that could have made a DS3 a more focused experience at a expense of freedom and exploration. It's just a shame Obsidian took a step back by wrecking the pacing with it's dialogue and storytelling.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
Previous list has it at 19. But 8 positions would still be a hell of a climb after release. Can anybody from UK come up with a theory?

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
If thats the case why was DS2 successful then? It took on Battlefield 2 on NPD and I doubt that was just due to DS1 nostalgia. Most likely they simply expected the franchise to maintain certain gameplay elements. It's hardly unreasonable if you have no time to keep up with all the latest gaming news. Do you really believe that dropping features expected as standard would help the game? Among co-op titles only budget priced games can do without multiplayer. And if online play was a major feature of DS1&2 then ignoring it would lead to an even greater player backlash. Except AP was an original IP and had few expectations associated with it. The impressions made before the game came out were build by Obsidian and Sega.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
But given their history with previous publishers that just may be a big deal. Lucas arts hired another studio for kotor3, so did Atari for neverwinter. With Sega being unhappy with AP alienating any more publishers doesn't seem to be a very smart move. Especially considering Bethesdas publishing history. And I'd say that it may be no longer clear whether Obsidian can build a successful game from the ground-up without a strong IP to aid sales. That's a unfair exaggeration. The metacritic score of DS3 hovers around 70% which is a world of difference from the 60% AP got. But that may just showcase a lack of IP strength and/or title exposure. Certainly if DS3 doesn't matter to the codex it may not matter to the target audience. It is not clear however if the reason for that is game quality or lack of interest in IP.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
That's also a developer problem as it means they failed to appeal to the target audience with their product. Besides that for all we know they may cover only a week of sales. If true it still would be a very bad result as the game would likely top around 300k but at least it's not the 1:10 sales to expectation ratio.

Dungeons of Dredmor. An interesting take on a rouge-like. It's just a shame that permadeath mode is useless until they patch the crashing.

The Age of Renewable Energy
We have a few of those. If you mean fusion power plants then realistic ETA is about 2050. And that's assuming they won't be abandoned due to exaggerated expectations.

It looks ridicules as Honest Hearts. What exactly was so ridiculous about HH? I get that religious nuts, tribals and outdoors are not everybody's thing but it never struck me as being terrible. And this is the first DLC that seemingly ditches cowboys and goes back to the pseudo-50s feel. Thats reason enough to hope that this time I will actually be able to buy the bloody thing.

The Age of Renewable Energy
If you agreed that generating energy from fossil-fuels eventually leads to significant ecological damage how is it not relevant to the choice of future technology? All that potentially cheap energy does you no good if you're going to starve during a farming collapse.

The "Humanitarian mission" in Lybia
If you mean the NATO/rebels then I don't see why would they need to be concerned. Gadaffi can fund the war only for so long and on the western side of things I hear very few complains regarding the intervention.

What are you playing now?
You're better off reading a synopsis on wikipedia, the plot is so badly told you'll have no idea what's going on (even if you played trigger multi times). I never had a problem with understanding the plot. Admittedly the game is slow in providing explanations and ties things a little too neatly but by the end nearly everything was plainly spelled-out.

Witcher 2 Again
CD Project Red sued over Witcher 2. Even if namco loses the point regarding publishing rights the part about DRM removal may be valid. I wonder what consequences can CDP face if found in violation of publishing agreement? Can the xbox version get delayed because of this?

new scientific discoveries
That's just the framework. The organ growing must have taken some time as well. And I wouldn't get that excited over a trachea. If we can move on to hearts or chemically active organs things will get interesting.

Commercial success
Is decision like that really in Obsidians hands? Target audience seems to be more of a publisher thing and it seems DS3 was always meant to go consoles-first. Maybe because shooter fans are more appreciative of newer technology. Newer graphics/physics and better production values are far more important in that genre witch in turn gives it more mass-appeal.

Mass Effect 3
And just how much non-linearity do you expect from a story-driven RPG game? Because "one totally different chapter" seems to be a much better deal that any other game recently released.

STEAM!
It's simply dull and boring. Bugs aside the overall quality of it is what you would expect form a free to play title.

That just proper storage, it still can't generate power at night.

Thats because they change their numbers when real data shows up. Some of their initial guesses have been wrong by 2-3x or more. Unless the game becomes a massive hit or someone speaks on the subject we are unlikely to see a good estimation of sales until Square-Enix investor report shows up.

Yes, Russia did in 1998 and Argentina in 2001. As to what happens as I understand it - nothing good to those involved.

Game trailers review 6.3 surprises the hell out of me. I always figured GT goes easy on games.

It was a high budget high profile sequel to a successful FFXI so the audience was there. If publisher investment ruled critical reaction it wound never end up with the sub 50% average on metacritic as it's potential for expansions (and subsequently their previews) was no different than other MMO games. And I have never heard that the game was unplayable, that usually means serious technical issues rather than bad game design. And on the flip side - how do you explain the surprise hits? When games like Halo or God of War first debuted nobody considered them to be a major titles let alone a genre-defining ones. And then there are games like Vanquish, World in Conflict, Demon Souls that would earn very high scores despite unimpressive promotional campaigns and/or poor commercial showing.

I really don't see Square-Enix expecting DS3 to be a 80%+ title. They would need a bigger investment for that. That's true but we are talking psychological boundaries here. For instance it takes 75% for green color on metacritic score. And console versions are now at 72/71% so they may still fall below 70% boundary.
