  1. If they place them before one of those Obsidian boss fights that require 20+ attempts this will make for some hilarious trolling.
  2. I don't believe any behavior or procedure can produce 100% accurate results. Moreover, whenever I hear someone claim 100% accuracy or rightness, I assume they're trying to bilk me out of my money. Coincidentally CD Project just the lost the lawsuit over the DRM removal and publishing rights to xbox version. Frankly this looks just like a desperate shake down for cash as they shouldn't have anything more than IP tracking. Unless of course the game gathers personal information which would be in itself illegal.
  3. Am I really the only one that plays random? Approaching a game like Civ with a set leader, world type and strategy just feels wrong.
  4. Wait so I missed the Introversion bundle? That's the whole problem of the 'sales' approach - expecting everybody to check your offers every week. And now the only option is to buy it for one euro from people that gave a cent for it.
  5. No it's not. So what is the alternative?
  6. Now that's really interesting. PC exclusive RTS game using Bioware brand and the once-popular Generals IP. And it's somehow supposed to be "emotionally engaging" as well. It will be fun to see if it steps on the toes of Blizzard and it's Starcraft 2 expansion plans.
  7. Wait.. so developers shouldn't combat piracy with offering better service for paying customers.. everyone should instead just accept annoying crap?. They could also make a statement by not buying and not pirating it. The problem with pirating something is that developer/publisher never knows if there was something wrong with the game or you just wanted it for free.
  8. The GoG people would tell you to provide additional value for legitimate customers. How do you profit on it is another issue.
  9. I think you are barking up the wrong tree as I don't remember ever calling US poor or it's economy in shambles.
  10. But social stigma usually results from harming economical interests of your society. When all the software producers are from a country far away (and one that is clearly rich) it's rather hard to convince anyone to care about their business.
  11. Because they see Obsidian as the best-last-hope for the old school RPGs. Clearly a South Park game will target different audiences.
  12. Nothing to be offended about. Fart jokes and making fun of everyone and everything is what goes on in the show. Apparently this equals a right-wing show. While South Park may be mocking everything and everyone it never did so equally. Even if you ignore the "I learned something today" fragments there is still a world of difference in the viciousness with which it handles environmental issues and big business.
  13. So Obsidian has gone from Star Wars to this? Not that I mind it as it's a golden opportunity to mock the RPG genre and all it's cliches. But first the game will have to survive shipping of political agenda and fart jokes.
  14. Easy - Fallout New Vegas. Steam recognizes completely different version of the game depending on the country of purchase. And this is a issue as DLC releases are somewhat unequal.
  15. I don't think rail shooters count among FPS genre. In early FPS games mouse could at best be used for movement and auto-aim was the norm.
  16. I did play M&M and similar games and can honestly say that they were never as good as recent Elder Scroll games. Just like other old-school first-person dungeon crawlers their essence was grind by combat. Ever since BG/Fallout changed the way of handling storytelling and world interaction it's simply wouldn't work and that sub-genre died. On the other hand the more exploration and world-building focused Elder Scrolls series is still popular.
  17. AC:Revelations. Still a good game but a step back from Brotherhood. Controls have been improved but new gameplay additions have been poorly though-out. It's also not as content-rich as previous games.
  18. Then you run into the problem that any kind of fighter build becomes completely dependent on proper monster pulling. There are already far too many action-rpgs where one monster is a joke but two or more mean certain death. Maybe one day the devs will start to write some kind of group AI. Until then they will easily get by with properly adjusted cheating.
  19. You can't make the hero react to hits as the player is always outnumbered and would be constantly stun-locked. Oblivion occasionally induced some form of stagger on the player and it was annoying as hell.
  20. Bohemia CEO on DRM and piracy Just food for thought.
  21. Try "player.modav [block|blade] [+/- ammount of points]". Not sure on two-handed skill name tho.
  22. Will this be an actual beta or just a two day stress-test? Don't want to channel Morgoth here but I agree that wasting a week of download time and gigabytes of hard drive space for a 48 hours of lag-fest doesn't seem like a good deal.
  23. So how is the 'new' engine? Any changes regarding world separation, uncrossable mountains, lack of windows and time stops during conversations or mini-games? IIRC something was supposed to change.
  24. I think a better use would be to make a game that appeals strongly to fans of the IP gameplay while trying to expand the fanbase to appeal to newer gamers. Or, make a lower-cost game that aims strictly at a niche market and doesn't need huge sales to turn a profit. Unfortunately most publishers don't want to waste effort on niche markets. It makes more sense to burn the IP in an attempt to promote a new shooter than to make plenty of adjustment to enter a low-profit nostalgia-ridden and indie-overrun market.
  25. But thats exactly the point - when old fans start to complain they draw the attention of younger gamers. If you own a worthless IP you might as well put it to some use.
