After quickly browsing a book on oaths in Sweden, people that wanted to become Swedish citizens no longer had to make an oath of allegiance in 1924, and politicians that took office didn't have to do it anymore on Jan 1, 1975. If I read it correctly, I'll admit that it was a woefully boring read.

I think the last time Sweden put any trust in "God" was when Carolus Rex proclaimed his crown didn't come from the Church but from god. Not really serious I'll be honest, the thought of anyone but soldiers and doctors giving any kind of oath outside possibly a courtroom is completely foreign to me. I never even came across it until I was in my upper 20's I think so I've never really asked anyone about it. I hadn't even thought about it again until I read it here.

I might give it a go then, it might bring my spirits up. I've not consumed the Shannara series in as much detail that I can probably overlook/not remember the lore misses. I have the same mind about the blight, having it be an invisible border where things slowly decayed the further in you got would give it a much more insidious punch than a line of millions with evil trees in my opinion. They could've used some of those wasted 30 minutes from the previous episode to give the blight a better showing. Having a star fort wouldn't make much difference in that case though, machicolations and "Aes Sedai turrets" would eliminate much of the need for the more complex Star Fort construction, but I was mostly doing some petty nitpicking.

I'm going to be more petty actually, thing that irked me.

I really did like the overgrown highrise buildings in the mountains in the first few minutes of the first episode, even though it more brought to mind Shannara with how "clear" it was. I do feel petty about some of the things I react at, such as how Fal Dara was presented, sure, it's a fortification, but it's also a city and as far as I recall it was surrounded by farms and such. It wouldn't have hurt them to add such things in to atleast attempt to make the world more lived in. The Star Fort design did get me to raise my eyebrows a bit though. That's a very good point, I don't have any objection in the clothing department with the exception perhaps being the serpent ring of the Aes Sedai, they're ludicrously huge. Oh, hey, there's a Shannara TV series. Can anyone tell me if it's worth watching or if it's even worse than WoT?

I took over my fathers mobile phone and number somewhere around 2000, I still have that number. Sadly, I've had to get myself a smartphone after my old one got run over by a couple of cars. Still don't have internet in it though.

Well, almost all of my complaints would be summed up by the bottom part of this picture in the same twitter thread; The problem is that they're enabling it and help in legitimizing these things.

I remember when the fan on my Voodoo 2 died in the middle of winter. It had to have some cooling so I used a desk fan, but it wasn't enough so I had to put the desk fan in the window and blow cold air directly on the gpu for it to work

The best thing about a 320 Watt TDP gpu is that winter means you don't have to feel cold, aslong as you remember to put a load on it. I've been running folding at home at max load every night to keep warm.

So, living in the rural area here we have a road association where we pool money for maintenance and snow clearing and I've just been part of a really funny conference call, listening to a bunch of people curse and insult the guy that is responsible for clearing the road, it's been snowing but it wasn't really bad until now, we're up to about 15cms on the road instead of the 5-10 it was before, and there's been heavy snowfall for the past hour or two. And the nitwit has yet to take the tractor to the road to clear it. People can't get home..
