  1. The Slaught are'nt so much creatures to use as combat opponents, you just frickin' run as a Dark Heresy character - by the time of Ascension/Deathwatch you can start thinking about killing them, and only if you've got a full group. They're really great as antagonists though, when presented in the right manner they can creep the hell out of you. Yikes, I would've thought it was quite cheap in England. What was the pricetags? --- Anyway, we've not gotten 'that' much new information yet, just some small tidbits, the last two sessions have been focused on preventing a planned attack against the entirety of Solomon, centered on Hive Gloriana. The captured commander of the 34'th Scintillan Penal legion revealed to us that he had a meeting with three other leaders of different groups in the Hive, during wich they recieved information and orders from a Slaught. The 34'th were supposed to take out key infrastructure targets in the hive, a group of Psykers called Divina Rex were supposed to cause mayhem by opening portals to the Warp and a group of mutants called Newborn Sons was to release an toxin into the watersupply to kill of as many people in the hive as possible. All of this was supposed to happen during the festivities to honour "the Emperors ascension", including attacks against all the other planets around the sector. Oh, and the freedomfighter group "Forgotten" was supposed to help the groups with backup. The Inquisitor had'nt yet been able to rally the sectors forces to prepare for the attacks, due to the massive cost of locking down planets and so on and wished for the leaders of these factions captured. So that's what we set out to do. Our Witch Hunter, Vindicare and Judge, together with some Adepta Sororitas set out to deal with the group "Divina Rex", a few Sororitas died during the assault. When they went to apprehend the leader of the Psykers, the first thing that happened was that he was possessed by a bloody Daemon. One shot from the Vindicare took care of the daemon, and the Witch Hunters holy crossbow stakes dispersed the leader's advisor, a daemonhost, to dust and ash. Myself as the commander, the Magos and the Astartes went to deal with the mutants and their fortified outpost in the wastelands, later joined by the others. Since the Newborn Sons had roughly 2500 men and an fortified outpost with artillery, anti-air emplacements and had recieved training from the Pale Throng (Tranch war), we rallied an army, tanks and artillery to attack their base while me and the Astartes plus 7 Storm Wardens were supposed to drop pod into their base and apprehend the leaders. Some ****ups later and I had to return to ground to take command of the ground troops. The Astartes fought their way into the base, confronted their leaders and one of the Psyker leaders was... possessed by a frickin' once-bound daemon. The Daemon proceeded to kill all but one of the mutant leaders (Who tried to flee, but was intercepted by the other players), the 7 Storm Wardens and nearly killed the two PC's aswell. It was pretty damn late by this time, so we have'nt interrogated the mutant leader yet in detail, but the Inquisitor got the pull he needed to mobilise the sector to deter a possible invasion atleast, through accounts from the mutant leader, commander of the 34'th Scintillan and the massive stocks of toxins found in the mutant base.
  2. Rock Paper Shotgun preview
  3. Saints Row 2 i bloody brilliant. Really badly ported though in my opinion, driving with the WASD-keys is... interesting, but damn the game is fun! GTAIV might be a technically better and definetly prettier game, but it cant match up in sheer entertainment value. Currently playing STALKER Call of Pripyat Complete myself, and darn it's purdy. Still fun as ever.

    Music

Cheers for the tips! Going to talk with the GM's about the music you suggested, the Gladiator soundtrack we already use for another game sadly. The Chaos Gate music really struck a chord with me, and I really hope the others think the same! <3
  5. 1. Make sure to find drinks that you like. 2. Only if you go to pubs. 3. Me neither, but you don't have to get pissed. 4. Yes, yes they are. 5. Having a bunch of alchoholics in the family I can actually agree with that. On that note, had some 12-14 beers this past monday. Was an awesome night where we had good fun between friends. We rewrote the meaning of epicness when the whole crowd simultaneously fell silent and sang along to Fools Garden - Lemon Tree.
  6. For the sake of background; I live on the countryside. My waterpump is going fubar.. did some washing yesterday, and today when I woke up and wanted to start making some coffee, I had basically no waterpressure, went down into the basement and found that the pressure regulator is glitchy. So I forced the relay to kick on and off a few times and turned the power back on, went "fine", though it sounded like a bloody grinder. Went back upstairs, made some coffee and with great dread and despair I went into the shower. Never before have I hated my long hair as much as I do now. Just when I started rinsing the waterpressure started to drop again.
  7. Whoa... that's an awesome picture...!

    Music

Does anyone here have any tips about any good background music for say Warhammer 40K? Suitably epic and dark at the same time preferably.
  9. Great way to prove the Christian fundies right. Every time I read a similar thing I loose a bit of tolerance against religion.
  10. The Worm that Walks; Xeno-race of hyperintelligent creatures, made up of hivemind-linked "maggots" with acidic "blood" that can take on different shapes by sort of possessing human bodies. Or rather, they wear their skin. They live of brainmatter wich lets them take memories of what they kill. The Storm Wardens astartes chapter went in to clear a den of Slaught on a world and nearly got their arses kicked, since every time they lost a Battlebrother, the xeno would devour his brain and learn of their tactics and culture. Hence they started goading the Storm Wardens into unfavourable battles since they learned what made them "tick". They also have quite advanced technology, one of the Astartes in our group was nearly oneshotted by a Slaught, and the other one was. And this is from stats brought from the Dark Heresy rulebook, not Deathwatch.
  11. I don't know where exactly I remember this from, but I think it was Kaidan Alenko's dialogues. He said that his family had some realestate on the coast wich turned into waterfront property due to global warming or something of that caliber. I wonder if Bioware will remember such details if they let you touch down on Earth.
  12. Well, not with an AAA budget that's for certain. But it would'nt be impossible I think, with a smart budget to make a bit of money by doing that. Depends on if you for instance want VA and such, I've been told that costs a minor fortune. I'd love to see one for for instance Jagged Alliance 2, or similar.
  13. So how do they do their coffee breaks? Do they have a separate telepresence system setup in their living rooms for that? Because seriously, coffee breaks is why most people have jobs. Its important. Important? It's mandatory! One good way of getting suspicious looks is to order tea instead of coffee. They look at you like you are a madman, I swear. Not that I've ever done anything as blasphemous as that ofcourse. >_>' Can't bloody make my mind up about Shift 2, so I'm going to keep playing Call of Pripyat for a while I think.
  14. Hmm.. do you mean don't drift as easilly as in they've applied superglue to the tyres?
  15. i loled pretty hard at this. I was thinking the same thing... Hehehe, I was more thinking about Ubisoft actually going after the people that wrote their signatures on the contracts, rather than the rival company.
  16. Yeah, but is'nt that an situation that is supposed to protect itself so to speak?
  17. How would you say it is, driving wise? I know it looks good and such, but I have'nt heard anyones opinion on the driving itself that I can trust.
  18. Now I'm confused, why has a court decided to step in and decide where people are allowed to work? What's that **** about?
  19. So we did another little adventure! During our previous excursions we have'nt managed to get ahold of any really solid leads, just som "lieutenants" and alot of thugs, wich we tortured and got some basic information out of that led us to assume the things I listed in the previous post. Our Inquisitor deemed it nessessary to go to Solomon to process the information we have and find out more about a nobleman that was in charge of the uprising on the last world we visited, and also to get reports from other points in the sector to aquire more leads. During our travels through the Warp, our Arbites Judge got an message through her mirror image, a warning that we would be ambushed at Solomon, and that they really were friendly, that we had a common enemy. Our group decided that we should pay no heed to Warp-entities or such filth. When we reached Solomon and touched down, we were asked to meet up with an Emissary of the Lathe-system. An assassin took out the Emissary with an Haywire rifle as soon as he showed himself, and forced us to fight him, his Scitarii and roughly 20 servitors with hidden shielded heretech armaments. After this setback, we met back in the Arbites headquarters on Solomon and discussed possible modes of action while we waited for a new emissary to be sent from Lathe. We decided to investigate the claims of instigators on Solomon, wich took us quite a few weeks (No direct action by the group, only used our Influence and sent some Acolytes and Arbites to do this) and found that a company of the 34'th Scintillan (A rogue I.G. penal legion) was trying to infiltrate the hive. After some interrogations we used their gear and some commendeered personell to infiltrate their group to destroy their insurrection and capture their leader. During this , the Inquisitor was attacked by a Slaught in his quarters. There was quite a fight as the two Astartes fought to defend him, one of them was disintegrated and the other badly injured after when strike each, but the last standing Astartes managed to kill him before any harm came to the inquisitor. Directly after this, the others of us managed to stop the instigation and capture the leader of the company of penal legionnaires after a big battle in the underhive, though the leader was quite badly injured and would'nt be able to live through an interrogation in quite some time. We sent out more Acolytes and Arbites to start sweeping the planet for more agitators and secure Solomon. A day or two after the battle the new Emissary came (Wich was the dead astartes player) and after recieving the message we sat down to assimilate our findings so far. We did'nt really get a whole lot of new information in the last session, since much of the time went to let the astartes kill things and character creation and introduction. The inquisitor himself is trying to get the sector officials to prepare for a possible invasion of Calixi, something wich is damn near impossible due to us not really having any solid proof yet. Our sessions rarely go on for less than eight hours, so most of the things I write is extremely shorthand and I'm also not quite used to writing out things like this, so; Feel free to ask me questions about what you want to hear more about. I also would'nt mind some pointers and suggestions on how to write these; I've been thinking about doing it as a diary of my character. Also, does anyone know if it's possible to do some sort of drop-down box for texts? I was thinking of including some texts that the GM's have written to us players that gives some extra flavours about the characters and goings on.
  20. By mainstream gamejournalist standards, yes. By any sensible meaning it's average. Quite surprised by that actually. I think he might've written it the wrong way around.
  21. I think that the only reason that she comes along is to get money to get some proper clothes. While high heels and formfitting clothing makes for nice eyecandy, my brain hates it. Alot. :/ Frikkin chainmail bikiniwarning.
  22. Seen the Katarina trailer? I'm annoyed by the choice of attire so far. Guns are cool though! :D
  23. Damn, that video and interview made me confused - I don't know what to think now. The lightning filter made my eyes go <.> Still going to say that I'm excited about it for now though. Not going to buy it on release, I'll have to wait for reviews and impressions for this one aswell.
  24. Recently my group started a new campaign, with characters from Dark Heresy/Ascension(Me as an IG;Commander/Stormtrooper Captain, an Witchfinder/Interrogator and an Adeptus Arbites Judge and one of the two GM's Vindicare Assassin), Rogue Trader (Our vessels Rogue Trader captain, and the second GM's Voidmaster pilot) and Deathwatch (One assaultmarine and one tactical marine). We've got two people GM'ing and alternating between adventures, often these adventures are divided into two or three gaming sessions. It's an ongoing campaign and not completed, so what I'm actually telling is the viewpoint of my character really. Alot of elements from the Haarlock legacy saga and similar things have been taken into it all. The GM's have put alot of time and effort into both writing textmessages to hand out before each session and the campaign itself, and most of us are having a blast with this. The exception to this rule seems to be the two Astartes whom can't and/or won't involve themselves directly into things, and only occasionally bring on the hurt when it is needed. Hence they don't have a whole lot to do while the ascension/Rogue Trader characters dive deep into the fun. The campaign itself builds on from previous adventures our different acolyte-cells have experienced (The only character that has'nt been created for this campaign is my Ascended IG; Commander/Stormtrooper Captain), the adventures themselves have never previously been shown to be connected in any way, though the GM's has sat down together and cobbled everything together to make for one campaign. I've spoiler tagged the details, incase anyone here is currently playing the Haarlock saga. Even though I have'nt read them myself, I don't know how much our GM adlibbed it. There is alot of fun in playing a really old character like this, when we were interrogating some of our prisoners the name of the feral/agriworld Iocanthos came up, wich immediately let me recall the very first mission my young (15 years younger and with both arms and legs to be precise) character was sent to there, telling the rest of the group what we set out to investigate, what we found and did, local politics and exports got me quite a few suprised looks from the rest of the group, not to mention the GM! The GM questioned my choice in buying the Total Recall talent when apparently I already possess that talent myself. :D If there is any interest in it, I can continue to fill in the blanks as the story develops and maybe someone else can get some inspiration out of it. I'm off for the next session tomorrow and I'm all giddy already! :D
