  1. Was a bit surprised that they are already doing voice-overs according to the article, but then I realized that Eternity wasn't that far away anymore.
  2. http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Project-Eternity-PC-256319/Specials/Project-Eternity-Vorschau-aktueller-Status-1096782/ Includes new Pics
  3. I'm an avid reader and kind of an enthusiast when it comes to literature. Also, I'm not easily impressed by writing. It seems I would incline to agree. But the problem with your statement is, that it hinders development of good gaming narratives. If people in the beginning of games with stories would've said "Ah, shucks, I don't want stories in my game!" we would've never had, say, Dear Esther or Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs which were absolutely stellar in writing. They have to be the most literary games I've ever played and I loved them dearly. "Reading" sounds unspecific and that irks me. It reminds me of verbose, everyone's-a-walking-encyclopedia-of-banalities Planescape. That, on the other hand, is true. I wouldn't say Torment was full of banalities, at least not in the context of other computer and videogames. I think Torment introduced players to some interesting albeit not very deep philosophical questions, and I think those players were never in a "philosophy" target group. So there's that. But I really hope we will not see "quality" writing in the vein of R.A. Salvatore. Ehhhh, I do at least expect something above Salvatore.
  4. Considering that they have published games with unreasonable deadlines I don't think time management is their problem. I don't know the details, but what I know is:- they've had problems with publishers' deadlines before (i didn't exactly hear out both sides on this) - they're delaying yet another game Obsidian is never delaying a game. That's the publisher responsibility and in Obsidian's case actual big delay didn't happen that often. Rather cut short or a very tight deadline in the first place. And its a lot more complicated from there (Which is why arguing with no info isn't the wisest idea) If you want to learn more about Obsidians history you might want to scour some interviews/articles. Knights of New Vegas on Kotaku is a good starting point.
  5. Listen, mate... Dungeon Siege III ... action smash-many-buttons-at-once cRPG (no offence) Project Eternity ... Infinity Engine based classic tactical cRPG You still don't get it, do you? Also, there was a lot more than you originally quoted from J. E. Sawyer, if that doesn't explain the issue to you, than nothing will. "Goodbye and thanks for the fish!" I think Dexter was trying to say that DS3 had bad controller controls and in turn hinting at that Obs abilities to use controller controls sucks judging by his previous post(s).
  6. The sheer amount of umlauts makes that a cool looking title. If you like umlauts we could also name it "Stützä vo dä Ewigkeit" You should really come to Zurich. In Züri redät jedä so, ich findä das pärsönlich zum chotzä. We can go waliserdütsch for the hardcorz. As a Solothurner I'm closly affiliated to Bern so Züri can go to a very special place. *smugface* J/K.
  7. If you can't take a joke....... Making things too pr-ized and dry can be a slippery slope as well.
  8. I am also wondering about this, but I think that just maybe it isn't yet released and this is only a preview It is. Backer site will be part of the big update.
  9. You don't have to pirate an actual game. Just the crack.I actually have an archive of them on my pc for the future should an outdated online-drm prevent my old games from working. It's another thing that makes DRM ridiculous. The actual pirate of the game doesn't have to deal with the drm problem AT ALL, since the release group has to bypass or remove said drm in the first place for the game to work. As much as I dislike the concept I think Achievements have done more against piracy in a year than overly intrusive drm in its entire existence.
  10. DRM is bad because the only people it actually hurts are the legitimate customers.
  11. Nothing to rage about, as long as we know if something arrives everything is great.
  12. Thought it was worth mentioning. http://youtube.com/watch?v=b-2HT6DVUFI
  13. Well there ARE controller profiles for IE games http://pinnaclegameprofiler.com/pc-controller-support/alpha-gamepad-joystick/xbox-360-ps3-psx-etc/baldurs-gate Don't overpromise on something that simple.
  14. I remember playing Vangers quite often when I was a kid. Good times.
  15. Seems like obyknven just evolved into Walsingham.
  16. I actually would think magic could be used as a reason for there not being a printing press. (Different access to information for example) I'm sure Obs will come up with interesting lore regarding it though.
  17. I'm strongly assuming you're swiss too, in which case it's romansh/rhaeto-romanic. Romanic is a biiiiiiit more general. An understandandable error as we often call it just romanic, but I doubt many non swiss people would know that so I thought I should mention it.
  18. Absolutly nobody mentioned Sawyer specifically except as an example for posting outside of the forums. Nor was suggested that Sawyer was the only dev working on the project. So, thanks I guess?
