  1. He doesn't really say he didn't like it. He didn't even pay attention to it according to his statement. Because it wasn't what he wanted to see. Besiders, Gamefaqs.
  2. Already exceited for the first feedbacks about the panel^^ It should have just ended.
  3. Seconding that. I wouldn't lie to name it under my favourite games of all time. Has a great deal to do with personal bias towards spy fiction though. Charachters like Marburg, Stephen Heck and SIE are incredible. I strongly hope there are charachters with this much personality in New Vegas
  4. Can somebody change the thread title to US Patch release? It would avoid confusion and these situations. Well, not fully since the ones who would have to change it is SEGA but still.
  5. You mean overpowered, right? SMG's and Shotguns could potential fall into your "weak" category. Shotgun + Stomp are a pretty viable way to clear a room.
  6. Well, they would have to find a publisher first. That can be hard. And whats not to say that SEGA doesn't take some sort of bizzare legal action. Agree with the whole rebalance thing though. Playing Alpha Protocol is kinda like playing Planescape Torment in gameplay again. Except here combat is mandatory over the entire game.
  7. I don't honestly notice any difference.. Higher resolution/textures. It's only for 3 seconds really noticable. Though I'm pretty sure we have seen PC footage already.
  8. You mean Brian Mitsoda.^^ Also I honestly have to say I prefer the current state over a realgritty one. I'm a big fan of spy fiction and its an incredible hommage to it. Also we were talking about gameplay not the story itself. (Not to mention, I doubt it would have been "real" either way. The portrayal of espionage we have in modern media is as far from reality as you can get)
  9. Uhmm, the only thing I read in this rant (which most of I can't really agree. VA was great, Cover was useless and in many situations you were better off just shooting and punching dudes, and hand to hand combat was probably the best part about the gameplay IMO) that are actual technical problems instead of opinion is the freezing. Can you elaborate on that? Even if we can't help ypu it can be used for further information to other players.
  10. What glitches did you have? As far as I remember there was nothing gamebreaking in the PS3 release apart from problems with the checkpoint system which can be resolved
  11. KOTOR2 and NWN2 were better games out the box and though both suffered from a number of bugs, Obsidian was quick to release fixes and patches. The release now and fix later approach is so prevalent that it's pretty much become an industry standard unfortunately. That doesn't excuse the practice however. But when a company releases a game which is not only bugged, but encumbered with any number of other issues, hardly communicate even with their own community, and then release a minimal patch that apparently breaks all non-US versions of the game...then that is bringing that standard to a new low. The responsibility may or may not lie with Sega, but it reflects poorly on both. That's opinion. As for the rest well..... I don't really agree but I see the point and it certainly hurts the image. Edit: Just to add. KOTOR1 better game aside from the bugs out of the box. Yes NWN2. No way in hell.
  12. It would be. But I fear that this is the official patch, since it is from Sega. That sounds strange to me: on the official site there isn't any link about the patch and this is a big (and the unique) chance for the Obsidian to sell more units of the game and improve its "reputation" so would be really stupid making an useless patch if THAT is the patch they were talking about, then I think obsidian is crap To be fair here. The only thing that seems wrong with it are that there aren't seperate versions of the patch because it seems to work for the US version and addressed issues. So, we just have to wait for a european version of the patch. ...which is indeed a crappy way to treat paying customers. It's one more thing that gives me the impression companies exploit European markets unfairly: US versions are almost always released sooner and are almost always, quite often significantly, cheaper (European customers might not be united nor bitchy enough - allowing various companies to get away with such policies). The US version being the only one to benefit from patching is adding insult to injury. As for the reputation of Obsidian...this only enforce the impression that they're basically incapable of making games on their own, and have to be supported by IP/brand names to deliver. If Obsidian was a music band, it'd be a cover band pretty much. What? That I don't understand. KOTOR2 and NWN2 were way way way way buggier than AP ever was. And honestly giving out different versions of patches and adjusting the DRM etc and looking that it works with every version. Isn't that kinda Segas job?
  13. I have absolutely nothing against legitimate criticism. I don't think bashing an RPG for not conforming to "other shooters" is legitimate criticism. Nor do I think trashing pistols because they don't behave likes SMGs/Assault Rifles/completely fabricated weapons from another genre of game qualifies either. AP was a real-world RPG, therefore shooting was largely skill-based and conformed to how weapons work in the real world. Someone who bothered to read the box before playing the game might be inclined to congratulate the developer for this achievement. Nah, there were some parts that felt real but it was still largly fiction. AP uses "Real World" mostly as a background. In its heart it is spy fiction. Absolutly great spy fiction at that.
  14. Then what are you trashing it for if I may ask? Gotta love people getting defensive when anyone on these forums isn't slinging praise at the game. I never trashed the game, you all just jumped down my throat the moment I mentioned that the frustration with the shooting mechanics was certainly understandable, and that the game could have done some things better. Oh, I wasn't in the conversation from the beginning. Also, I believe people can get frustrated by the system but anyone who wants to learn it has to learn it. It's that simple. I did not blame Splinter Cell or Thief back in the day because the usual shoot at everything tactic didn't work. Obsidian added an tutorial. I don't see the problem in that regard. Now beeing frustrated by the bosses or that the combat feels like a chore. THAT can I understand. And seriously waiting for a reticicle to close and distributing skill point isn't one of the hardest things to learn ever in gaming. As for your comment. I called you out on it because the phrase "I was not trashing it for beeing .... " kinda implies that you trashed the game for another reason.
  15. Oh, really Volourn. Thanks for poiniting that out. But really. I want to see were it was marketed as ME2 then. Especially since that was a game that was just released this year. Actually, wait I'm arguing with Volourn here again. Silly me. Edit: Naturally you are totally right and I submit to all your superior reasoning. Volourn.
  16. And fantastically you never gave me an example. Seriously? Where was it marketed as a shooter. The entire marketing campaign was CHOICE, CHOICE, CHOICE. The whole level design part of it was misleading but I don't remember one add that said. HEY LOOK HERE GREAT SHOOTER. And also. What are you here complaining about? He accepts your opinion. But don't think for a second that your opinion is the only one in the world. Yes, Gameplay was broken. Did it hinder the other parts of the game too much? IMO, no.
  17. Who said that? AP's gameplay is less than stellar YES.It's largly unbalanced. But to expect people to figure out that you have to wait a bit before shooting ISN'T. I have to adjust to the gameplay in nearly every game I have played. I had to adjust to the gameplay when I first played a cover shooter. I had to adjust to the gameplay when I first played a stealth game. Also you do the same. You ignore posts, don't remark points others made to continue your rambling etc.etc. Also, according to your rant every game ever has a bad tutorial. Because I don't really remember a shooter/action game that teached me tactics and while AP's tutorial wasn't stellar it should have teached you enough to get relativly good through the game. P.S Just too add. After I figured everything out the game was way too easy except for bosses in all weapon categories. Hell, you can get easily through most of the levels by just punching all dudes.
  18. It would be. But I fear that this is the official patch, since it is from Sega. 19. Did you not see the entire ****ing advertising campaign for the game? It was very clear they were attempting to attract mainstream shooter fans. To be honest what I remember from the marketing campaign was Choice,Choice,Choice. That includes a misleading campaign with Choice in Level Design which wasn't really much there. But I never remember them cartering to something that is unique to a shooter. Can you please give an example?
  20. I'm wondering how anyone ever figured out D&D computer games without prior experience..... Yes, I think if you can't figure out that a crit has higher accuracy especially since it's not really that new a element to wait for the recticle to close.... Well,...
  21. You pull the words out of my mouth man! About what I said about illegal game downloads, I would say, for my defense (because I'm a REAL REAL BADASS PIRATE LOL), that it's the only logical answer to companies who constantly see us as morons who are willing to pay for unfinished and defected products, YOU poor humans continue to pay a large amount of money for things that won't work, or very bad. Of course, there's always be people seduced by extremely enticing speeches about their needs and their expectations about their (not yours...) incertain future. But with illegal downloads, the answer is clear : if you want us to help you, then at least produce WORKING things and at fair price please. By the way, the "cracked" exe screwed my game, as many people here, and as expected as well. People like you are the reason companies like Troika went under.
  22. Also just to add. Why is there such a negativity towards AP's bugs? I mean they are way, way, way less than NWN2 release or KOTOR2. Of course, the mouse stuttering is game breaking on pc though and really an example of a bug that should not happen.
