  1. IWD3 from Obisidian? WOW! I hope this is true. (w00t)
  2. I'm still hoping that either Bioware or Obsidian will be the developer. Thankfully, E3 is around the corner so we should hopefully know very soon!
  3. I justed started playing this game and am in Chapter 2. So far, the game is excellent. Wonderful setting, excellent voice-acting, intriguing plot, and fun combat , and I must say, as a whole very original as a result. I hope there is a sequel, as I would love to see the wuxia elements further developed (e.g., more styles, greater emphasis on clans/schools, running on trees, etc.) Although early, I am giving the game a thumbs up!
  4. I'm thinking that the odds are good we will learn more about BG3 at E3. The more difficult question I think is who is making it. What's truly surprising is how well this secret has been kept after so long of a period. As a Jefferson fan, I also wonder if there is any possibility that BG3 might incorporate some of the ideas from the Black Hound. I was very intrigued by the personality traits concept that JE described during his time at BlackIsle. Well, I guess time will tell what BG3 will bring us.
  5. Many months have gone by since the gaming magazines first reported that BG3 was in production by some unknown studio. Since E3 is right around the corner, it would seem like that would be the ideal time to provide more details regarding one of the most popular RPG series in recent memory. I'm hoping that Bioware will be the studio. If not, Obsidian would be okay by me. (w00t) Anyone heard anything more on the BG3 front?
  6. Huh? I dont' get it. The forum may have to close because there isn't a community manager? Let see: 1. Answering questions -- yes, we ask questions, but I don't think that there is an expectation that Obsidian has to answer them. 2. Handling disruptive members -- we have very able moderators and for the most part, I think this is a very behaved community. So please Feargus, keep these boards open.
  7. IWD3? I didn't know that this was a possibility. If Chris A. is willing to helm this project, this could be a very, very promising title! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If I'm not mistaken, Chris A. designed the prologue section of IWD2, which I thought was among the best areas of the entire game. If only the other areas (like Fell Woods) was as good.
  8. IWD3? I didn't know that this was a possibility. If Chris A. is willing to helm this project, this could be a very, very promising title!
  9. Well, Feargus has hinted in the past that he would like to get their own IP, so maybe now's the time?
  10. I too have a sinking feeling that BIO might be the developer of BG3. Dragon Age AND BG3 from Bioware.... that sounds nice!
  11. A more relevant question might be: Is Obsidian the developer of the BG3 game announced by Atari? Interesting question now that Troika appears to be out of the picture...
  12. If I understand correctly, Take Two's deal with baseball is not as good as EA's deal with football. Take Two's deal only applies to third party publishers (locking out EA), but first party publishers like Microsoft are exempt. This would allow EA to do something sneaky like co-publish with Microsoft for an X-box baseball game. All-in-all, this is a bad trend for sports games. ESPN 2k5 is the finest football I've ever played. I was so looking for the next update which will now never come. sigh.
  13. Best adventure game ever. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agreed/ That was an AMAZING game. A better "sequel" to the original movie than the acutal movie sequels.
  14. Sigh, another one bites the dust. I was hoping to see a TOEE sequel. Yes the original game had its problems and was buggy, but the combat system showed promise. I guess that also means that the fallout-esque game that was being considered is dead as well.
  15. We have been saying this argument for the last 5 years, and I still haven
  16. Thanks for the update guys. So I guess we can say that at this point, a developer (whoever that may be) is on board and they are in the early stages of pre-production. If so, I guess the estimated release date is in the 2006-2007 timeframe?
  17. Only Freedom Force from the list is of interest to me. This is sad, as the trend continues where PC game development is being moved over to the consoles. I like consoles, but I just wish it didn't have such a negative impact on PC gaming. As for suikoden, I liked both 1 and 2 -- the games had a certain charm and memorable characters to boot.
  18. Hmmm... Either its really GOOD (in that they have a great developer with strong development thus far) and want to have maximum hype when details are released, or its really BAD (in that have a a questionable developer and/or poor development thus far) and don't want to release the bad news yet until they had the time to fix it up. As for Jefferson, as much as I was a fan of what J.E. and crew were doing, it seems unlikely that any company will want the game now, when the developers of the engine, game design, and game programming teams are now no longer intact -- and that the engine is getting more and more outdated each day. I suspect Atari was only interested in the game story/design of Jefferson which might have reduced their design development cycle time for the new BG3. Time will tell I guess.
  19. I've been away for awhile so I'm not sure if there has been any more info about Atari's plan for BG3. There were some magazines saying that it was in the works, but no additional details. Do we even know who the developer is yet?
  20. Depends... if you a multi-genre gamer, go for PS2 -- most titles of any console. If you are a sports fan, go for the XBOX, their titles are usually enhanced over the PS2 and the network capabilities are better. I have a Game Cube but find the title selection very, very limited. Next generation machines probably won't be available until Christmas (that's about a one year wait) and the title selection at initial launch will be small. Gaming now is better than gaming later I say.
  21. Interplay was a great company, even before the great Black Isle Division. Now its just a shadow of its former glory. Perhaps it would be best for the company to say a final goodbye before all goodwill is lost.
  22. A D&D game by CA and co? Given how I loved the CA designed prologue of IWD2, this possibility would be: FAN-TAS-TIC!!! :D
  23. Hey Eldar, good to see you. I too followed Jefferson's development and was extremely excited about J.E.'s direction and hints about the game and subsequently extremely saddened by the project's sudden permanent "hold" status. Certainly, I would love to see Jefferson come out, as I too greatly enjoyed the whole IWD series. However, I just don't see much hope of Jefferson being released in any sort of fashion as originally envisioned by J.E. As such, I am hopeful that CA and company can create a new BG3 in place of Jefferson. Such a game would undoubtably be quite different from Jefferson, but I think that the quality would still be high. As to which which version of BG3 would be better, well, I don't think that is a question than can ever be answered.
  24. I think that Obisidian is indeed working on KoToR2, which we should hear confirmation soon given the close arrival of E3. The more interesting question is BG3. Atari is rumored to have something in the works for BG3 with a "major developer". Bioware, the obvious choice, is taking an IP strategy (e.g., Jade Empire) and has *it seems* passed on licensed games (e.g., KoToR) by "partnering" with other developers such as Obsidian. If this is true, then could Obsidian, in partnership with Bioware, be working on BG3? BG3 would be another golden, established franchise, that should prove financially successful due to a built-in audience with greatly reduced development risk, particularly important for a startup like Obisidian. I would personally love to see Obsidian work on BG3, particular with CA, the brilliant lead designer of Torment, on board. One can only hope!
  25. Interesting that the developer is listed as Lucasarts. Given that KoToR1 was developed by Bioware, I don't think that KoToR2 would be developed inhouse by Lucasarts -- Which leads me to believe that Project Deleware is indeed KoToR2, developed by Obsidian, with a sub-license from Lucasarts.
