  1. I don't remember Fallout being very buggy frankly, although I obviously played it patched. Arcanum on the other hand...
  2. Been playing Alice: Madness Returns, The Binding of Isaac and Bit.TRIP.RUNNER lately. Kind of put Cave Story aside because I'm way too bad at that game and I'm stuck in a bad spot, and Batman: Arkham City because I ran into the stuttering cutscenes bug and I haven't found a fix yet.
  3. Actually, something that disappointed me of the plot is that very few explanations are given about the Radiant Youth. I don't mind a little mystery on what exactly he (or it?) is, but there were points were it felt like an unexplained Deus Ex Machina, going into people's dreams to move the plot. Might be just me though.
  4. When you get the ability that makes Quen reflect damage you've basically won the game.
  5. Uh, are you guys joking? Skyrim on PlayStation 3 goes to 0 FPS. 0. Check Digital Foundry. That's simply not acceptable, especially coming from a developer as big as Bethesda. I'm not talking about the occasional oddity, I'm talking about game-breaking performance. Furthermore, justifying a developer for not fixing their title because they're not going to get any money out of it (which uh, is kind of a complicated issue since it doesn't take into account people who won't buy another Bethesda title full-price because of the state the title was released in) simply strikes me as dumb. I mean, I could understand if that logic was coming from a Zenimax higher up, but as a customer it screams of Stockholm syndrome. And yeah, Bethesda shouldn't be singled out, but neither they should come out scot-free. I've always criticized Obsidian for the poor state they released their titles out of the gate (with the only exception of Dungeon Siege III), so I really don't see why I shouldn't do it with Beth.
  6. "Programming" is like "science". It would be a mistake to assume a scientist knows all science I was using developer as a stand-in for studio. Granted, I don't know how well-trained are Bethesda programmers, but I doubt that's the real problem, it's the studio's culture that doesn't seem to be good enough when it comes to managing scope and bugs. Granted, they're taking baby steps, but it's still too little. They certainly can't claim they have a money problem, especially after shipping 10 million copies with Skyrim.
  7. While hardly complete, Funcroc posted the links to some tracks from the composer's official website (and it was much appreciated). I'll see if I can find his post (or maybe he'll post it himself again, I dunno).
  8. "Programming" is something every developer should learn to do well.
  9. Uh? Nope. Completely different type of approach to level design/problem solution. Deus Ex actually has good gameplay too, so that's a plus.
  10. I only wish the combat was really Devil May Cry-ish EDIT: I haven't really played them by the way, but I suspect the primary influences were actually games such as Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and the recent Marvel licensed console action-RPGs.
  11. To be honest I don't see Neverwinter Nights 2, Vampire: Bloodlines, Icewind Dale as particularly influential titles, and it's way to early to see whether Fallout: New Vegas or Dragon Age: Origins will have any kind of impact (I'm inclined to say they won't, and I'd say there are at least reasons to believe the second didn't, since BioWare themselves changed direction with its sequel). I'll give Skyrim a pass because with 10 million copies shipped, it's having a big impact on the industry right now.
  12. Grimoire. Age of Decadence. Needed to exclude indies as well as MMOs. Well, yeah, but those two are never coming out!
  13. I would really like to hear what RPGs take 5-10 years to develop that are not MMORPG. Only one that comes to mind is Dragon Age: Origins and that project was rebooted more than twice and changed engine. Granted, 2 years is not a lot, but I suppose the development schedule for a title that is completely 2d and has a Paper Mario-like combat system would be different than a 3d title with more complex mechanics and more exploration.
  14. Can't say I even know what episode Feargus was citing but MacLean and Chris Parker have good tastes, both episodes cited are hilarious.
  15. Still haven't managed to finish it, the core gameplay isn't really captivating enough and the spoon-feeding of new abilities seemed more tedious than an something that would urge me to keep going. I found the core gameplay and the way the gadget are slowly given to you through the game, giving you a "uh, maybe I should go back to that area and check if I can catch that Riddler trophy now" feeling two of the best features of the game. What can I say, sorry you didn't enjoy it.
  16. Recently finished Batman: Arkham Asylum. Felt too short, I wanted to play more of it.. but I have Batman: Arkham City waiting for me.
  17. It's pretty obviously a joke (and they're probably changing the site a little bit). Will be very surprised if it turns out to be true considered that, as others commented in the topic where it first came out, it's basically the letter GOG used for their publicity stunt.
  18. It is, but mostly because it's difficult to reach 60 fps with that hardware. It's a bit disappointing to hear that it was the target for Obsidian, although it was because of animation issues with that framerate.
  19. PC port is terrible, get it on consoles.
  20. So, uhm, they're going for 30 fps? A little disappointing considering the Paper Mario combat style implies that a certain degree of responsiveness in the controls will be needed for the combat widgets (I suppose they'll go easy on the timing?), but at the same time it will probably be the first Obsidian game to have a stable framerate (well, I suppose it would be the second after Dungeon Siege III, but I have heard that on consoles it still had problems of that kind). Also, the fact that the show has a clearly defined animation style and that South Park studios oversees the project and is working closely with them, plus the nature of the project itself, means that we won't get Obsidian's trademark wonky animation. Cool!
  21. Finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution and its DLC. Loved them. Sure, the boss fights kind of sucked (they mostly fixed that in The Missing Link, although I found myself unable to stealth through it due to my incompetence as a stealth player) and the mission areas were smaller than the equivalent ones in the original (but hardly constrictive like, say, Alpha Protocol) and sure, augs are kind of crappily balanced with an emphasis on hacking and non-lethal stealth, but the game is a blast to play. Can wait to see what Eidos Montreal puts out next, especially the team that worked on the title. EDIT: Oh, and so many callbacks to the original too. To the point that you could think they've overdone it.
  22. Man, I wouldn't wish for Obsidian to go back on working on D&D stuff again. We have more than enough of that.
  23. Not really seeing the point of the Game Informer feature, seems like the game is simply not far enough in development that they can offer useful info with this hub-thing.
