  1. I personally didn't find particularly funny or well-done, but at least we had a look on some of the factions. ....Mr. House seemed like a much better attempt at humour to me.
  2. Playing it right now. Don't feel particularly ashamed to be honest.
  3. 'Bought' (doesn't really feel like it since it's free) Portal and playing it right now.
  4. I'm warming up to the level design, it looks like there's quite a bit of freedom in how you approach your objectives, from a pure gameplay pov and not just 'you have this/and this/and this choices, now go through all that linear level to reach them'. That makes me happy. Also the comment on the shooting mechanics feels pretty positive, after all, I doubted Obsidian would have got it completely right on their first action-rpg but the combat looks A LOT better than Mass Effect's, and... I had fun with it. Anyway... why didn't they just turn the brightness up?! The guy has a lot of problems because he can't see anything... ANOTHER EDIT YAY : It looks like what they were saying (was it Matthew Rorie?) about checkpoint being abundant is quite true : it's almost impossible to notice that they're actually reloading from checkpoints, and this will probably limit the classic 'save scumming' quite a bit.
  5. That's exactly why it sounds so appealing : the 13-years old that's in me wants to brag about how I beat the game 'OMG!!11!! WITUT KILLIN ANY1!!!11'
  6. I'm watching the 1up 'game night' thingy. I'd have hoped a little bit more polish was put in the game, but it's looking pretty good. I also got the impression that the pistol wasn't that precise (I'm curious if you can begin the game with tranquilizer and stuff like that or if I'll have to resort to non-lethal takedowns.. I might think about taking a few ranks in martial arts).
  7. Well Mark Meer has an incredibly lifeless and bland voice acting from the little pieces I heard. The italian voice actor felt much better to me, and usually video game VA is crappy here.
  8. Which is italian for 'Copyright buddy, and you're SO SCREWED'.
  9. To be honest, when Gaider is at his best he write quite funny dialogues. It's when BioWare tries to be melodramatic that fails incredibly badly IMHO. Let's hope that kind of scene is executed better in Alpha Protocol.
  10. Ok, that's definitely something you WON'T read on RPGWatch, but again, it's a quite widespread opinion. I remember a poster on Bethesda's forum complaining that yeah, Obsidian working on Fallout is good, but really, Bioware's dialogue are just higher-tier. Quite a few laughs there, but hey, you know the saying.. opinions are like...
  11. LOL. That's pretty much all I have to say on the matter for now.
  12. I think this looks totally sweet! And it's just a trailer on my crappy computer! Personally, if these graphics are considered crappy, then I guess I got to just admit that I have some low standards (edit for spelling flubz) These graphics are only considered crappy by people who post comments on GTTV videos. Hardly representative of the gaming population as a whole. Trust me I've read thing like 'Alpha Protocol graphics are terrible/crappy/****ty/ugly&dated' even on forums like RPGWatch (and of course, good ol' Codex). Trust me, graphic whorism is quite widespread (because, let's be honest, AP's graphics aren't top-notch.. but crappy??! really?!?).
  13. To be pretty honest, looking back in this topic, I've been guilty of judging too early too (the whole orbital laser thingy) so maybe I shouldn't throw the first stone.
  14. I understand your concern Slowtrain, but it's something I've heard a lot, not just here, and since I personally am not THAT concerned (maybe it's because it's Vegas, and.. you know... over-the-topness is the whole point of the city) I wanted to understand how some would be able to make a judgement so quickly. EDIT : Just to be clear, I'm not talking about you hear. You've already clarified your position on the issue. ANOTHER EDIT : http://bethblog.com/index.php/2010/05/12/s...cebook-twitter/ Fallout New Vegas Q&A organized by Bethesda. I'm pretty sure the questions asked on Twitter or Facebook will have a higher priority, but since I have neither I just went with the comment section.
  15. Though, is what we've seen right now really SO over-the-top? A supermutant with a wig - is it any worse than the straps on their faces? Fantastic (the guy of Helios One) - is he any worse than Tandi? (I don't know, actually, since we didn't even have a quote from his dialogue). I agree that too over-the-top humor, and especially over-the-top humor that doesn't fit the setting can ruin a game, but for now, everything I've seen seems to fit. Maybe I'm just blinded by the fact that I like almost everything I've seen about the game though.
  16. Harold had Bob only from 2 onwards though. Forgot about that; My mistake. I think my point still stands, though. Yup, your point still stands, true. I actually believe that Fallout 2 got a lot of things right, but also a lot wrong, though with a figure, I don't know, we could call him/her a 'cohesion lead' that controlled that all the content fit the same tone, it could have been much better. I could go on about how I would change the game, but probably (and rightfully so) no one is interested, so let's just settle discussing New Vegas. .... On this subject, I'd like to point out that Super Mutants have indeed lips. And straps on their faces. Thank God (well, actually no, I'm agnostic).
  17. Harold had Bob only from 2 onwards though.
  18. I don't quite care even if 'Mr.House' is his name. Then again, my native language isn't english (as if it's not obvious enough by how I write ) and I didn't even know about 'The House always wins' 'til a couple of days ago.
  19. The footage on the GameTrailers preview was pretty good and I didn't notice any awful AI. I really like the character designs of some of the NPCs, I must say.
  20. My 2 cents about the whole storytelling/gameplay thing. Two of the games Calax mentioned 'Shadow of the Colossus' and 'Ico' are actually a lot different from what people think when they hear 'lots of storytelling and no gameplay'. First of all, their gameplay is rather good (almost excellent at points in 'Shadow of the Colossus'). Second, their storytelling isn't done through the obnoxious 'stop the game! I've got a story to tell and you can't interact in any way!' but rather through environmental storytelling (a buzzword, especially considering how many developer get this wrong) and with little to no dialogue. So, the way to make the story more interesting for me is to make it more interactive, to make it a real element of the game and not just a script that has taken over the game like a tumor. There are very few exception to the rule 'cutscene-heavy game == major suckage' and I don't feel they belong to the category 'bad gameplay' anyway. If anything, I'd still find Metal Gear Solid 2 fun when skipping all the cutscenes... no, WAIT. I find it MUCH MORE FUN.
  21. Maybe he was busy? Also Avellone has already experience with writing comic's scripts.
  22. Just four words : LOW. INTELLIGENCE. DIALOGUE. OPTIONS. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH YEAH. And a bunch of other things too.
