  1. The price will probably too high but I'll think about it. I don't care about items and such things but the Avellone-penned graphic novel...
  2. I meant 'Alpha Protocol's visual presentation'. Though, when we talk about sales or reception it certainly won't be on par with the 'blockbusters'.
  3. I won't watch it for this reason. Meh.
  4. No one said that Alpha Protocol is on par with AAA title.. it isn't, to put it simply, and it clearly is a bit dated, especially when it comes to animations and textures. The only thing I'm saying is that the visual presentation seem atmospheric enough to support the game and considering it runs on UE3 it will probably run very well on my rig which is.. welcome.
  5. I personally used the 'alternative soundtrack' since I couldn't stand the Oblivion-ish themes of Zur. Even if I try to detach them from the game they're so ... soulless... I hope he does a better job on New Vegas. How was his work on Tactics?
  6. Aehm no, Gomorrah is apparently a place where you have to expect sex themes, drugs and vices etc... and I though I didn't have to explain the joke lol. As for the evil Frank Sinatras, I don't really know. I'm not exactly an expert on american culture. EDIT : Sawyer's reading. For some reason I imagine him cackling ominously on all the wrong information inaccurate speculation in this thread. With latin chanting on the background.
  7. While X's plot too had some rather incomprehensible pieces (made worse by my fuzzy memory) I found the gameplay genuinely fun, the setting was really good too, the visual presentation and music were perfect and even the mini games were great fun. I heard a lot of people complaining about it, but can't really see why.
  8. A couple of new informations from the same preview on the same topic on the same ol' Beth's boards: - Mr. House (that's the name of the fella who controls the city) doesn't deal personally with the Casinos. There are apparently various faction that control the different Casinos and one of them is the Chairman, mentioned as powerful enough you don't really wanna mess with. - Of course, even this factions have to respect Mr. House's rule. They still have their own rule though, as with the fact that you can't bring guns in some Casinos, unless you hide them with a very high sneak skill. - There is also a place (not sure if it's a city or just another Vegas' casino) called Gomorrah. Guess you know what to expect given the name.
  9. That's interesting though I don't like the metagaming implications of what he mentioned. EDIT : Though I've been harsh on his previous comments I think it's important to point out that the fact that he thinks the game is apparently 'fun with a capital F' it's refreshing. That's what matters to me. I want to have a great time with this game. And I feel sometimes, discussing design, consistency and all of that it tends to be forgotten on gaming forums (by me too, of course).
  10. To be honest I still haven't played Final Fantasy 7 (read a Let's Play some times ago, but that's not exactly 'playing' the game), so going with the whole 'Final Fantasy VII is the reason people think FFVIII sucked' is a bit unfair. Yeah, there's no doubt some people went into the new game with that kind of perception but a lot of people actually have legitimate issues with the game.
  11. It was probably more of a concern due to the range of the attack. If he really got as close as he said he did, it probably wouldn't require any pistol skill (i.e. me) to effectively shoot the guy in the back of the head. It may be just me but I smell an hyperbole. You also have to consider that in this game while putting skill points helps A LOT the reticule ALWAYS goes down to the minimum, you just have to wait more time. Seems perfect for stealthy character, doesn't it?
  12. The fact that he complains about pistols being inaccurate when he puts 3 points there.... really, since when character development became just an interface in which you put funny points but you don't expect your perfomance in the game to depend on those?
  13. The dragon age screen is on low settings, though. Not that it matters, I played DA:O on max settings and I still think AP looks better than it did. It actually doesn't seem to be on low setting to me, but it's a pre-release screenshot since the interface was tweaked a little bit before release. It's a good indicator on Dragon Age graphics quality in combat though since it hasn't really changed much.
  14. There's also a new, very small, screen on The Vault (it's actually from April's news about the Game Informer mag preview on Game Informer's website but it just slipped) : http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/File:FNV_scr...R_vs_Mutant.jpg Are those... lips? Please tell me I'm not just imagining things.
  15. I'm in the process of writing down (finally, sorry but my mind wasn't quite as focues as it should lately so it just slipped) the background and I'll probably send it either later or tommorow.
  16. Final Fantasy 8 has actually quite a large hatedom and for good reasons : the combat system is broken (IMHO ofc), the plot feels confused and I think throw too many unneeded twists instead of building a good villain and the relationship between the two leads (Squall and Rinoa) is incredibly forced and cheesy. It had quite high production values for the time though and was fun to play.
  17. IIRC they confirmed that the game will have the same skills. And to be honest, Outsdoorsman doesn't work very well in a 1st/3rd person game. They could do with toning down the spawn in the wasteland a bit and making monsters less intent on fighting just you when there are a lot of worse threats nearby.
  18. Aaand... got it! Thanks dude, nice find. Thank the folks at No Mutants Allowed, I just took it from there
  19. Fallout's soundtrack remastered by Mark Morgan himself. Download before Bethesda C&D!!!
  20. To be honest I'm just getting used to low-res textures : there were plenty in Mass Effect (don't know for Mass Effect 2), plenty for Dragon Age (pretty much everything except people's skins, eyes and a couple of other things), Fallout 3 (do I really need to mention it?). As for the shadowing I believe it actually looks good, some locations look pretty atmospheric going by the screenshots.
  21. Actually you read a lot of positive comments on Bioware's games compared to other 'hardcore' RPG forums, and it seems that the crowd is very fair-minded here, with the occasional 'banal, boring, ****' comment overexaggeration. The only comments against Bioware fans I've seen it's for the excessive focus on romances of the community.
  22. This is Howard Hughes IRL. Since the characters has been inspired by this guy I think posting this may help clarify a few things (didn't even know this guy existed 'til a couple of minutes ago, so don't blame for the errors in the summary ).
  23. Now I feel like I need everything there is to know about the game from previews. It also looks like some gaming mags/sites are really close to releasing reviews too, so I guess we'll see what the general receptions will be (my guess is pretty positive, though I'm not sure it will be positive enough to garner Alpha protocol that 90+ on Metacritic and the likes that seems so crucial for some people to buy a game).
  24. I've to correct myself again, since this WASN'T posted by the same guy who posted the preview take it with a grain of salt. Probably the only currencies available are just the three mentioned, which are really more than enough anyway.
  25. Highly civilized people was present in Fallout 1 & 2 actually, if anything, it was the dreaded Fallout 2 that introduced theme like the de-evolution of wastelanders into tribe, so I don't really see a problem with that. As oppressing as Fallout 1 & 2 felt, though, you always had the impression that people were struggling to survive, while in Fallout 3 the impression is that people are letting themselve die, with all that disrepair and the fact that there's been virtually no evolution in the Capital Wasteland after the Great War. Hopefully (and apparently) New Vegas will correct these flaws.
