That one weird moment where I actually agree with Morgoth. Plus the idea of having just one alien is the idea Obsidian should have had for their Aliens RPG instead of going for aliens as a normal RPG monster like they did before the project was canceled.

Happy birthday.

Look, I'm not a huge fan of Fallout 3, but I hope you're not seriously comparing a mainstream game to insitutionalised sexism and fascism.

Despite having a very problematic (and long) development cycle, XCOM still probably costed less than Tomb Raider.

Realistically speaking, this is one of the Kickstarters that updates more often among the ones I backed, so I'm not sure if much more could be asked in terms of regular (and meaty) updates. There have been faux passes, including this very thread and the handling of the fulfillment website, but on the other hand, I get the impression you're expecting a tad too much Monte Carlo.- 261 replies

I'm just hoping "near future" isn't used as loosely as "soon" was used for the backers fulfillment website.- 261 replies

Good. Now they should port Heavenly Sword as well. Never gonna happen, Sony owns the IP. Same reason Demon's Souls is never getting a PC (or Xbox 360) port.

Update #65: Ciphers
WorstUsernameEver replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Psyche is one of the four defenses which also include deflection, reflexes and fortitude. As far as I can tell "psyche" isn't used from a lore perspective in the update.- 201 replies

Update #65: Ciphers
WorstUsernameEver replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Well, the Spiderdude is an interesting take on the traditional mind flayer archetype, but I'd hope a race of alien proto-cipher would have a slightly more incomprehensible fashion sense than flowing robes with spider symbols. Perhaps, if you wanted to keep the same silhouette, they could wear a tattered web that vaguely looks like a robe at a distance? To add a sense of grandeur and nobility to it they could also wear jewels and ornaments on it, I don't think it'd detract from the alienness of the design. That said, I draw like a (very talented, mind you!) six year old and I never studied character design in any great detail, so that suggestion should be probably taken with that in mind. EDIT: Yeah, I know there's a web pattern on the robe in the concept art already, but it looks just like that, a pattern, something you could see on a tacky halloween costume.- 201 replies

Surprised C2B hasn't posted it yet, but the game's release date has been announced: December 10 for the US and December 13 for Europe. The game is also getting a "Grand Wizard Edition" with some in-game bonuses, a map, and a Cartman statuette. There's also a new trailer available. EDIT: Before I forget, the release date is only for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. No release date announced for PC yet. EDIT 2: In the UK at least, the NA PR doesn't mention that. For comparison, UK PR.

C2B's Next-Gen Obsidian RPG Speculation thread
WorstUsernameEver replied to C2B's topic in Obsidian General
Steampunk Superman vs. Batman where you play a third party involved, with the final mission involving a Jules Verne-style voyage to Krypton. The chances of that being the game are exactly 0, but since everyone is posting wacky concepts I thought I could contribute with mine. -
Potraits
WorstUsernameEver replied to decado's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I honestly didn't really care for the "visual discontinuity", and thought that the art of both Icewind Dale titles was a lot more evocative than the art of Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. The fact that faces were painted loosely and were often covered in shadows actually made it easier for me to apply the same portrait to different character concepts. Anyway, I guess I'll just have to use a picture of Dolph Lundgren for my character. -
Potraits
WorstUsernameEver replied to decado's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
We want to support custom portraits and make it very easy for players to drop in whatever they want. We're still playing around with portrait sizes but right now they're around 660x850 on the character/inventory screen and get downsampled for use on other parts of the GUI. Ouch. I was hoping you'd avoid the downscaling solution. Having to make thumbnails might be slightly less user friendly for people wanting to put their custom portraits in, but it allows for stuff like full body portraits that focus only on the face in the thumbnails, etc. -
The beta is. They'll decide on the release date once people are playing the beta and they get their feedback.

It's not unique to BioWare no, though I can't say I ever find it good design. That said, Kai Leng just felt like it was dropped in the game because it was one writer's darling, even though it didn't fit at all and his presence hijacked the narrative. While Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 narratives had many problems, I don't remember something like that happening, and Kai Leng received some pretty negative feedback (only partially overshadowed by the ending debacle), so I'm confident BioWare won't make that mistake again. Also, given I haven't really commented on the gameplay shown yet.. surprisingly it looks okay? I'll need to see a lot more and possibly get to play the title before judging, but at the very least it looks like they've taken the feedback to heart. On the other hand, there are also signs that they might be trying to please all crowds at once: I'm still not sure how dodge rolls and the overhead camera will mix together.

The crafting system is pretty fun, though it sometimes trivializes the game's challenges. The game is short and doesn't feel (too) padded, and the combat isn't too bad (though it isn't too good either, think of an easier The Witcher 2). That's really all I could think of.
-
As long as they don't have a ninja among their ranks that keeps beating you up in cutscenes. Yeah, I'm not over Kai Leng yet.
-
Yeah, no. I haven't played it after the localization patch that supposedly fixed the awful translation, but even not taking that into account, the story is nothing to write home about. It's a pity, because the setting is interesting in an 80s sci-fi kind of way.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt [2014]
WorstUsernameEver replied to Messier-31's topic in Computer and Console
There is a trend for this ? Sure. This isn't the first time I've seen people complaining about *gasp* devs spending time on Twitter WHEN THEY COULD BE WORKING ON THE GAME, or commenting about stuff like, I don't know, having enjoyed a videogame on social media. Either implicitly or explicitly, the underlying question is always "why didn't you spend that time WORKING?!". -
Can I pet it if I put points in the right abilities?
