Life in Shadows. A set of short stories by Elliot Kay. It comes with the label: Warning: Life in Shadows contains explicit violence, extended explicit sex scenes, explicit karaoke, profanity, rampant nudity, assault, murder, breaking and entering, belligerent urban wildlife, premeditated sexual promiscuity, vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, attempted kidnapping, attempted robbery, attempted ritual demonic possession, blatant violation of state regulations of adult entertainment, punching, kicking, cutting, stabbing, shooting, hair-pulling, name-calling, ****-shaming, cheap Halloween costumes, strippers, hipsters, poseurs, police, personal calls while on duty, arson, destruction of private property, lingerie, war criminals, break-up text messaging, lesbian demon seduction, accusations of Mary Suedom, poor workplace morale, premarital sex, nude calisthenics, immolation, false identification, ruthless exploitation of personal beauty, unsafe crowd control standards, vertigo, destruction of evidence, elitism, racism (don’t worry, he dies), open relationships, workplace scapegoating, adult use of plumbing implements, fantasy depictions of witchcraft and paganism, at least one reincarnated ancient European warlord, and a girl-on-girl grenade fight. All characters are over the age of 18, except the aforementioned reincarnation of an ancient European warlord. That gets sketchy.

The first Watch Dogs was pretty awesome, shame it was so underrated, for having the downgraded graphics and awful driving mechanics, it sure made up for it with its great story and hacking/tech mechanics. I think partly it was that while the hacking was an interesting experimental twist on the open world gaming concept, it didn't really have the weight to carry the whole game. That and the protagonist was a fairly unlikeable jerk. Watch Dog 2 is a bit more entertaining, pushes the humour side of things out more. But it has a certain fuzzy opening and shallow start to the story. It doesn't really kick in for story depth until you've already done about half the game. I'm not actually sure what the point of grabbing/earning cash is in the game. Apart from a couple of clothes, and picking up the quadcopter drone, I pretty much have no reason to spend it. The protagonist is a slightly geeky, caught in the works and turned hacker character who isn't a hardened and practiced killer. So it makes much more sense to use the stun gun if you do screw up the hacking side of things and can't ghost/trick your way through the majority of missions. So it's not as if you need to buy guns and ammo.

Saw that Uplay has Watch_Dogs 2 on sale for 50% and decided to splurge and pick up a copy. Going to start playing it after a bit of lunch and a fresh cup of tea.

Pathfinder CRPG with Avellone and without Obsidian announced

You might not, but I do. I barely tolerate RTwP, but I adore turn-based. I'm also curious how RTwP has gotten better. What, fundamentally, has changed about it over the years? Very much this. Also, if I were to pay for it, I would show them that there is a market for RTwP RPG's, they wouldn't know or care that I immensly dislike those mechanics; They still recieved my money. I would like to put up for example, the turn based conflicts in Torment: Numenera. I would be perfectly happy with RTwP compared to the horror feeling of facing yet another Torment Numenera combat. -
Tomb Raider (2013) followed by Rise of the Tomb Raider. And of course, they went the multimedia route, because Tomb Raider (2013) does Lara's first reveal that the weirdly supernatural mythological/archaeology thing exists, but does a touch of the torture porn and showcases what a hardened killer she can become.. Then they tell the story of what happens in the immediate aftermath, the recovery, plus the initial introduction of the bad guys in Rise of the Tomb Raider in a novel set between the games. I do keep meaning to pick up the Baba Yaga dlc when it's on sale at some point, but so far haven't gotten around to it.

I actually just started a replay of Rise of the Tomb Raider. Not sure what drove that mood.

Hm, doesn't look too bad for a reboot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUDV0CUzG0k&feature=youtu.be Although apparently Sutherland will be putting in an appearance. So not sure if it's meant to be a loose follow-on or just him as a cameo.

I knew they'd established that for the Dark Universe that they would be doing The Invisible Man and Frankenstein, but I hadn't realised they had already cast Johnny Depp as The Invisible Man, Javier Bardem as Frankenstein's Monster, and that they'll have Annabelle Wallis' archaeologist making an appearance in all of them.

Had one of those days where every 5 minute job spiralled out due to complications, the back room where we've been storing a lot of mom's stuff as we've been sorting it and getting rid has been discovered to be swarming with carpet moths, one of the Enchantica dragons I was given years ago got knocked off the side and shattered into half a dozen pieces, and I had to fill out and send off various application forms. Fun. Now I am debating whether to pick up the Cyberpunk 2020 set that Bundle of Holding are offering at the moment...

Hm, so who noticed this bit and what do you think it's effect will actually be? The 9th circuit decreed that Trump's twitter feed must be taken seriously -

Well I'm turning the leftover roast lamb from yesterday into a lamb balti for tonight... Unfortunately, no peshwari naan bread, but I'll make do with some lime and coriander rice.

I had a lot of fun with SR3 in general. It cranked up the siliness yes, and I think in some ways it did lose out some of the more emotionally serious parts of SR2, but it was in general a fun blast to play.

Welcome to the depths of the Obsidian forums... Whether it's practical knowledge is another matter.

Stumbled on a show from 2000 - Queen of Swords. Basically, if Zorro were a woman - it has a bunch of the cast from the old Highlander tv shows in it. Stylish, glossy, some nicely handled swordfights, and with that slightly cheesy over-the-top edge of campness with the villains that suit the pulp adventure of a Zorro story.

Picked up the dvd set of Highlander the Raven, the spin-off show from Highlander the tv series. The interviews of what brought it together, the stresses, the background politics, and the relationships that were all wrong are all explained. It's interesting just how upfront everyone is about the issues that ran through shooting the series.

Pathfinder CRPG with Avellone and without Obsidian announced
Raithe replied to Doppelschwert's topic in Computer and Console
Well Kingmaker has been one of the best adventure path's Paizo have produced for Pathfinder, so I have to admit, I'm curious to see how well it gets translated into a crpg format. The fact that the design team are playing it over and over again means at least they'll have some awareness of it rather than purely coming at it from a nodding acquaintance. Although as they pointed out, within the adventure path the practical aspects of the Kingdom tend to be more statistical rather than story, so having more elements of that become a choice & consequence thing has my gaming antenna waving in potential excitement. Then again, I always had a fond spot in my heart for the old Birthright campaign setting that TSR produced back in the 90's.
