  1. I had a lot of fun with SR3 in general. It cranked up the siliness yes, and I think in some ways it did lose out some of the more emotionally serious parts of SR2, but it was in general a fun blast to play.
  2. Welcome to the depths of the Obsidian forums... Whether it's practical knowledge is another matter.
  3. Stumbled on a show from 2000 - Queen of Swords. Basically, if Zorro were a woman - it has a bunch of the cast from the old Highlander tv shows in it. Stylish, glossy, some nicely handled swordfights, and with that slightly cheesy over-the-top edge of campness with the villains that suit the pulp adventure of a Zorro story.
  4. Picked up the dvd set of Highlander the Raven, the spin-off show from Highlander the tv series. The interviews of what brought it together, the stresses, the background politics, and the relationships that were all wrong are all explained. It's interesting just how upfront everyone is about the issues that ran through shooting the series.
  5. Condolences Hurl, may the pain not linger too long.
  6. Well Kingmaker has been one of the best adventure path's Paizo have produced for Pathfinder, so I have to admit, I'm curious to see how well it gets translated into a crpg format. The fact that the design team are playing it over and over again means at least they'll have some awareness of it rather than purely coming at it from a nodding acquaintance. Although as they pointed out, within the adventure path the practical aspects of the Kingdom tend to be more statistical rather than story, so having more elements of that become a choice & consequence thing has my gaming antenna waving in potential excitement. Then again, I always had a fond spot in my heart for the old Birthright campaign setting that TSR produced back in the 90's.
  7. The key important part of Sleeping Dogs... was the joy of the story, the atmosphere of the city, and the amusing martial arts system along with how you could use it with the environment. The gunplay was always a minor element. Maybe the teaser trailer plays it up to do a "see, we're balancing it out this time around...."
  8. Catching up on the last few episodes of season 4's Blacklist. Seems to have all the secrets coming out, and I have to say, Requiem and all the flashbacks from Mr Kaplan revealing the depth of history there was a bit of a surprise twist.
  9. Offhand, it's hard to say. At the moment there's a lot of things up in the air. The Northern Ireland assembly is in suspension because the DUP and SInn Fein can't reach a power-sharing agreement. Having one party having the potential to heavily influence the administration could have a lot of awkward fallout. Sinn Fein while technically having seats in Westminster have always followed a policy of absenteeism because they're big on Northern Ireland re-joining the rest of Ireland, regardless of what people said in the referendums. If the DUP does head into coalition with the Tories, Sinn Fein might feel they would need to actually use their seats properly rather than have them as a PR element. The Good Friday agreements were meant in some way to balance out the unionists with the nationalists, and then have a sort of limited oversight via a supposedly non-partisan British administration. But there was also a lot of vague wording in the agreement, it was originally meant to have a certain ambiguity to help bring all the varying groups together rather than try to jam specific hard lines down everyones throats, but I suppose that could be used to bend and twist it in all sorts of fun ways.

  16. "In sporting terms, this (UK) election is like May hiding in the locker rooms, whilst Corbyn and Abbott trip over their own laces and fail to score in the open goal."
  17. Voted. The grand UK election, where votes come down via a process of elimination rather then having someone I actually wanted to vote for. "I can't vote for them because their policies are ****. I can't vote for these guys because the leadership is dodgy. I can't vote for these because they're intolerant jackasses. I can't vote for the others because they're so damn wishy washy and have no connection to real life. Oh, that leaves this political party who are just meh."
  18. One thing to take into consideration, it's basically the launch film for the "Dark Monster Universe" franchise, or whatever they're calling it. So they'll be doing updated reboots of Frankenstein, Werewolf, etc and they'll all be part and parcel of the same world and connected together. One of the reasons they have the "secret monster/evil hunting society" is to help establish it all.
