As someone that has an outside perspective living in the US I can tell that having separate cultures within a same nation is a detriment. That's within a nation that has a shared history; which they ignore, so I will have to say that it would most likely fail with different nations that all have separate cultures that have little to do with one another. The only way to keep them together is through imperialism but that seems to be taboo nowadays. Even though it is practiced in some measure.

I put my game on hold since my genocidal, xenophobic, militaristic empire can't control more core planets and the technology can only be researched randomly and only after you research the one that increases sectors. Luckily we are beloved by everyone in the galaxy except for the energy beings but they aren't meant to be friendly. Empire building is so boring when you have a planet limit. You just have to put them in sectors until you can control more directly I'm not a big fan of the sector shuffle either but it allows you to keep expanding I try to keep my ethics divergence down and not to have so many re-education campaigns. Right now I'm just buffing my core planet tech so that I can gain the upper hand in the war race against my neighbors. Plus I already have enough problems from other races that have made their way into my empire.

Can't play them either. The beginning with jumping from bad cutscene to bad cutscene was such a hard turn-off for me already. I forgot entirely about them...maybe I should try to play them.

I found the combat unoffensive and the class system to be endearing. It could definitively had been better but it retained some of the promise of what could had been. Right now I feel that you are comparing apples to oranges, they are different games with different genres and different goals.

I tried We are Dwarves.... it might be a good game for the needle in **** hole crowd (that's what I call game masochist who think that every grating design flaw is a virtue) but I generally don't like playing games where the developer decided that there is only one specific way to progress and unless you do those arbitrary thing you not advancing. So **** them and their particular way to play their low key game.
