Pre-Order Bonus Item - but not for PC?
Orogun01 replied to Agent X's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
I haven't encountered a good many people willing to pay $360 for the privilege of playing Heavy Rain. I'd say that's a minority even in the people who actually know what the game is. That's fallacious reasoning. People generally don't buy the PS3 for a single game. They often do buy it so they can play a game knowing they'll be able to play many others as well, however. Three words for you my friend GOD OF WAR. -

Not to mention, very little emotional value. Contrast that with Morrigan. I hated her with a vengeance. Not because she sucked, but because he was a heartless bitch that was true to form. Which actually ends up making her a good character. The same applies to Mordin even though a loved the Salarian to bits. Give me love, give me hate, just don't give me indifference. Sten; coming from a warrior culture wouldn't be overtly emotional, so in that aspect he is well written. He is also the only character whose comments while exploring can unlock conversation. Maybe I'm just a sucker for laconic conversations but I still think that the character garners more than indifference.

Here is an attempt to save the thread from extinction. Does anyone has any opinion on the subject matter?

There is only one reason as to why the given choices weren't as definitive and hard as advertised; the gamer's sense of complacency. Talking straight; games are an ego stroking apparatus, the gamers is always experiencing things from a secure view because in the in the end he will win (that's what he payed for). So killing everyone on the team or making the final mission incredibly hard would have been off-putting to a lot of gamers. Or is at least a risk that the devs are not willing to take. Given the advertisement and the whole buildup to the game I was expecting something more severe, but I guess that there are no experimental games is the same that could explain this: No major developer want's to risk alienating their audience. At the same time I think that there was no good writing around the companions deaths, it felt generic and forced. It simply didn't belong there and the game didn't even acknowledge the losses properly. There was no reaction; even if the deceased was close to Shepard, only a coffin at the end. -
And still he is better than Alistair.

Is that a plot to discredit the Holy Land, making sure that everybody leaves it and then take it for yourself? But seriously, you have to ask how much credibility is needed to make such thing work. Not only that but an unification of thought amongst all of the Christian religions and even then you still are left with a message that can't find it's recipient.

Interesting read, I have to agree with the notion that game autherism is present within games; even more than on film because of the author being a team rather than an individual in most cases. So we make names into brands and know what to expect when we see them on a game.

He probably means that NWN2 sucked until MotB was added. But again that's like an opinion.

I go away for a while and this derails to a veggie convention @Walsingham: Apparently, you can carry a Kirpan on England; as long as it doesn't overextend the limit for a bladed. It is also permitted under section 139 the defense under the ground of religion purposes. On the States it is also permitted, as long as they are secured with adhesive to their sheaths. The issue's conclusions boil down to reforming legislation to allow a type Kirpan or work around it by modifying it to fit the legal parameters. Now back to the veggies: I could had a V8

If what I know of the Sikh is right, they do training with weapons. So it's not a stretch to say that a wooden dagger is an effective weapon on their hand while still being a non-lethal mean of defense. It seems to me that dagger is worn less because functionality and more because of symbolism. I would need to check the legislation surrounding this case before making a definite conclusion, since its not clear to me what their legislation on carrying weapons and what it constitutes a weapon.

Okay, yep, Wrex and Garrus, not much of a stretch for them to become what they are in ME2. Liara? Two years to an asari isn't going from early twenties to hitting the thirties. It's going from twenty to twenty and a half. I dunno, maybe all the stuff they went through in ME changed Liara's viewpoint on the galaxy. Maybe Shepard finding out more about the Protheans in a few weeks than she could in fifty years jaded her a bit... but to go from the bookworm with no social skills whatsoever (by her own admission), to badass killer bitch with knowledge of everything that's happening on Ilium -- not to mention taking on the shadowbroker in a more blatant way than anyone else dared to do -- in just two years? Nah.... but then maybe I just didn't like her anymore, heh. I don't know going through a whole comic of batarians trying to rape you can mess anyone's mind. Depending on the length of the comic and how many rape attempts happen I may agree that Liara's change is appropriate. If it turns into one of those asari-hanar games then is perfectly understandable that she wants to kill the shadow broker. -
Good point which strangely enough occurred to me last night. I am, after all, arguing that a religion be accorded special positive status. But accepting that precedent it becomes logically inescapable that other religions are suitable for special inferior status. This is of course anti-liberal, and probably illegal. But at the same time, running on a bit further, we odften discuss some religions as inferior. Scientology, Aum Shinrikyo, Heaven's Gate. These all spring to mind. Thoughts? You know most orthodox religions have changed with the times, just compare catholicism now to 13th century's. It seems to me that this particular practice needs to be amended; perhaps by the wooden dagger option. The problem here is between religion and the times.

You can look up Gulag death rates in any reputable (i.e. not "100 million deaths") you like and find that the death toll was quite subdued outside of 1942-1944 and one outlier in 1933. Here's one graph: Maybe they ran out of people during the subdued years? BTW, you keep Russian death toll graphs?

The cloak works better for gaining ground or getting away from trouble. Just hide and get your enemies caught between your cross fire or disengage and get away. PS:the widowmaker broke my arm!! -
Just don't watch the sequel. I did it, just out of obligation. Better visual effects but the damn story is just something out of a children's tale.

I am perfectly content to direct forum readers to make their own minds up on this point with reference to any reputable historian of their choice. Okay, which part of my statement do you disagree with? You'd have to be pretty silly to disagree with any, since every one is true (unless, I guess, you think that Stalin purposely orchestrated the death of huge numbers of Soviet nationals in its breadbaskets for no reason before he'd even done the Great Purge). I am perfectly content to direct forum readers to make their own minds up on this point with reference to any reputable historian of their choice. laughing.gif May you recommend one?

The Nazis committed genocide against ethnic Russians in occupied territories. Should we not do the same? They did.
