  1. There is no lack of contempt by the gaming media when it comes to dealing with their audience, they have been dismissing criticism for years. I'll grant that some of the angrier voices have little merit but that was no excuse to ignore genuine concern just because the believe that controversy generates clicks. They are right of course but now those clicks seem to be going somewhere else. I think I will play Tina Turner while I browse the Escapist, I don't know why.
  2. That may be true for melee and ranged classes but mages/paladins do get spells/miracles that are big game changers. A knight fights the same low level as high level with better stats (Although, DS2 nerfed the heck out of every weapon) A mage with a good selection of spell will 2-3 hit bosses. Hardly the same.
  3. Wouldn't had expected that post from you since judging by your taste you only have feelings for well toned women.
  4. That's the price you pay for having magic be actually usable for boss-fights.You can't expect a strong ranged attack without a drawback. Kiting is just way too easy. Agree with this post, but Cristina makes a good point (although is not about the magic system) that spells are spaced too far apart at the beginning. But the beginning of DS is difficult for all classes and then it gets better. Except for DPS Dual wielding Dex fighter, being DPS is always suffering.
  5. Post modernism really is the eternal well of bull****.
  6. "How Internet behavior will influence social dynamics post Singularity." There, now go do your home work.
  7. Blast that stinking dragon temple or whatever it is in DS2. I wiped so many times on the boss that the enemies stopped respawning. I get the sense that mechanic was a added at the last minute to make up for improper design. DS2 was poorly thought out.
  8. Magic uses the Vancian system, which is a good way to limit what are increasingly overpowered spells. For the most part it scales well and you have very little trouble wiping areas with basic spells. Archery has good critical damage. I like that enemies respawn, that adds to the challenge but I understand that sometimes becomes a grindfest when you're engaged on a difficult BossFigth. Although DS is a lot more forgiving with the distance between bonfire to bonfire and bonfire to boss than its predecessor and successor. I think that the DS mechanics are due for a re working.
  9. They're not, but the Imperial City manages to sort of feel like a city. Also, as stated by Qistina (I'm just going to start calling you Cristina) there are more things to do within cities than in Skyrim. Local chapters of Guilds, and what not. Plus, despite their lack of character and dialogue the Oblivion NPC have a schedule that actually feels sort of realistic. Rather than the Skyrim ones that are either locked into a job or wander around aimlessly asking you about the Cloud District. It took me a while to learn that guy actually had a farm, specially since he's never on it.
  10. I wish I could say that it was because of optimization but considering the scale of BlackReach, there is no excuse for any town or cave to be small and linear. They were probably saving man hours, or they had problem with direction.
  11. Then move to Los Angeles (i.e., the beaches, westside, studio district or artist district.) Hot women here are a dime a dozen. Obviously Hollywood is here, but Hollywood itself is actually a dumpy area. The women (i.e., the hot ones) are collected at the beaches, westside, studio district and artist district - i.e., the "white" neighborhoods, which also attract hot Latinas, hot Asian women, hot Armenian women, Women come from all over the country - and world - and want to be stars. Unfortunately white girls (or any non-Asian girls in general) are mostly out of the league of Asian men like myself - i.e., white girls do not date Asian men. So for us the women here are more like "look, but no touch" kinda deal. Yet many Jewish and white men here are married to Asian women. As we Asian men like to say, the so-called "cross-racial" interracial dating is actually the most racist of all. But hey, that's life. It's not meant to be fair. What are you gonna do about it? Improve your game.
  12. "above average" I would love to be in a place where this is true.
  13. I would think that due to how popular Schlinder's list was people would know that the Nazis supported private entities.
  14. I really like the position picker.
  15. What are they now?
  16. I get the feeling that there was a quest that I either miss or wasn't finished before release. I have the blacklist and I can't tell anyone about it, also there's a dead guy on the library at the Rail camp. Are those things easter eggs or something?
  17. Welcome to the human race. You forgot pic
  18. The power dynamics on those types of relationship are skewed yes, just because they are susceptible to become abusive doesn't mean that they inherently are. If I hold public office and award contracts to a company I have significant shares in ... that may not be corrupt. It may be the best contractor. But you can't seriously suggest it should be accepted. That's not a good example since that's pretty much the common practice around here, and it doesn't seem to bother no one except militants with cattle.
  19. Volo, you wouldn't know organic even if you learnt how to spell it.
  20. From an unemployed 3D artist standpoint, are you hiring? People like them, is really just that. Bethesda and Rockstar have made them popular and it feels more organic than a linear game.
  21. Yeah, CI is king. You can have (reasonably) low AP/turn but you don't want to sacrifice CI for any other stat. On Supreme Jerk you practically have to have 20 CI on every team member thus totally gimping your party in everything non-combat. Which is the main reason why I play on Ranger. Is a bit unbalanced and more of that good old school RPG crap where you and your party seem to be the ones living on the world. Everyone else somehow manages to exist without interaction. Like how your party of adventurers somehow always manages to find a bunch enemies that made into the same dungeon level but are somehow fresh and ready to fight. We are obviously playing by different rules the enemies and I.
  22. One of the big ****ing flaws in the game seem to be with the enemy's stats. Everyone and their mother have more initiative than you and can walk from one end of the map to the other just to be next to you. Not hyperbole, I've seen enemies do that.
  23. Laconia sends its regards and says: "TL;DR"
  24. The power dynamics on those types of relationship are skewed yes, just because they are susceptible to become abusive doesn't mean that they inherently are.
  25. It opens all kinds of question and doubts about preferential treatment, which exists but can't be proven. However a sexual relation can be proof of it, so the company may be vulnerable to legal actions due to it. EG: disgruntled worker cites boss employee relationships as cause of their lack of promotion and seeks reparations.
