The dude who tried to SJW after saying some ****ed up stuff on the RPGCodex? Yep, and the dude who was trying to take money for posts on Reddit. If i'm getting this straight, Cheong who was notorious on the SA forums was also within the Codex?

Somehow I don't see her as a fanatic, specially since she can't seem to come up with an example of good female characters. Her discourse is starting at the conclusion that games are sexist and researching proof of it. Is not what I would call a supportive view, I think is a downright hostile approach to the medium. Her work is the politics of a different group of manchildren that want the other manchildren to be polite and share. She hasn't done anything that's worthy of praise or to be lauded. She just made a bunch of videos demonizing games and when she got angry responses because of it she used it for publicity. The fact is that she has never opened a line of discourse and she seems incapable of accepting an industry that's inclusive of what she considers to be misogyny. How is a one sided promotion of a political stance supposed to be considered as discourse? Also, I get from your post that it seems like you don't want people to play games as they are childish. I guess I will just go watch my manly action movies, they are certainly more mature than Gears of War. I agree with the sentiment that games have stagnated, it is what really has happened but distorting the facts and politicizing games is not productive. She is not treating gamers as adults, no adult would stand for the patronizing view that if I like sexualized characters I must be either hate women or be completely ignorant of how fiction affects real women. I actually give women more credit than that and don't seem them as fragile things that have to be shielded from the harmful stereotypes in media. If I can be adult enough to know the difference between reality and fiction so can women. I want games made for adult audience with mature themes and engaging levels of interaction. I don't want House on the Prairie with a multicultural cast of diverse bodytypes. If that's what they want they are free to fund it and buy it and leave everyone else alone. But don't try to sell me her shtick when her actions and her supporters' dictate otherwise

I call it Bill Maher syndrome.

He's been unfairly thrown in with their lot because of playing the Devil's Advocate with his persona that is really difficult to differentiate from a real; albeit eccentric, one. @TrueNeutral: It used be that /v/(RIP) had taken a stance against Sterling because he took Anita's side when the Women vs Tropes thing began. I maintain my stance that all of his problems stem from the fact that he's unlikable.

To be fair, I don't think anyone expected for this to be taking seriously by anyone. Milo and Baldwin have been among the first legitimate voices that have spoken in favor of GamerGate and that has gained them a tremendous amount of goodwill. Is kind of like a first Girfriend/Boyfriend kind of thing.

You're not wrong, apparently the escapist had only been included because we really don't like Jim Sterling. Also one of the co founders is part of the tinfoil hat community.

https://twitter.com/Nero/status/512592859439333376 It doesn't mean much, but a simple "I was wrong" is more than anything we've gotten from a game journalist at this point. I had been looking for that tweet.

I'm getting spoiled with numerous CRPGs and I love it!

I'll try to make sure to bring it up, thanks for the link.

I fail to see how someone giving a lower score to a game they find racist is bad and unprofessional, but whatever. I am, however, a bit sad that it took sacrificing a woman's right to privacy to kick off a movement looking into journalistic ethics, when actually well-argued articles like this have been available for all to read since 2012. I agree, /v/ (RIP) loved Erik Kain. At the beginning he was being used as an example of good journalism, the fact is that just like the strikes in Brazil brought about issues with public transportation weren't about it but other issues that have been piling up. This is is the straw that broke the camel's back.

And what shall I do if I believe that this whole gamergate business has an admirable goal but an ass-backwards way of trying to accomplish it, and in the end, it will only hurt the integrity and independence of games journalism more than it contributes to it? You're speculating about the conclusion when the situation seems nowhere finished. In the end the consumer will have the choice, it is the gamer demographics that is more likely to be interested in gamer culture. It is niche journalism, and it is up to the consumer with all the available facts to make a choice. If you're ok with Dead Rising 3 getting a lower score on PC than on Xbox because of a SJW that was offended by the characters in the game, then by all means continue to support them. If you want a higher standard and people with actual journalism degrees then do as GamerGate is doing and demand it. This whole thing might have started with Literary Who but it has grown into a discussion of game journalism and ethics. If it goes beyond that and into their relationship with publishers is yet to bee seen.

I'm just weirded out at people acting as if this was the straw that broke the camel's back when there is nothing in there that proves anything being organized. I agree with your sentiment but the fact is that now there is cause to doubt and further investigate where yesterday there was nothing. It is weird that people on that mailing list managed to create "Gamers are dead" articles within the same day and sometimes within hours of each other. Yes, it could be a coincidence but is a very convenient one and there is also the fact that they have reacted in unison to GamerGate by spouting the same platform and maintaining that this is about harassment when is very clear that they are the targets. That this is indeed about journalistic ethics and not about Literary Who. Please, if you're going to either play devil's advocate or you actually believe in the SJW side you can do a much better job defending it than this. It is circumstantial proof but it is enough to answer some questions.

Massive censorship of GamerGate on all boards and bans for posting or talking about it. Although people go out of their way to camouflage their discussion, like a Skyrim thread with gamergate content and links. Apparently Moot has gone to the same expo that Anita did (because he did a speech on it) so far is unknown if this is a rogue mod taking advantage of his absence or whether this whole thing is approved by Moot. But people are prone to hyperbole, so Moot has gone full SJW. Anyways we moved to 8chan. The hyperlinks are to the sources and references. Yes the timeline isn't perfect and some are approximations as the creator couldn't find an exact date, I still believe that is a good summary and a counter point to what the SJW media is spouting.

A timeline of events for people joining the discussion. http://cdn.knightlab.com/libs/timeline/latest/embed/index.html?source=0AluMP_VX-eehdFV1X2JxQXNzZ3gzaE45VG85WDl3R0E Also: day 1 of my ban, why the hell has moot abandoned us?! why did he had to go an turn into a SJW?!

All of this is irrelevant since we will soon be moving towards a non-scarcity based economical model. As soon as our new overlords get here....any day now.

Ban social media. Might work out. But we wouldn't have places to spread our nude pictures. -

We all part of a government experiment where they cloned the same person and distributed them across different countries and backgrounds to see how they would develop. Is the first stages on predicting human behavior in order to better predict and control the masses. We actually all look the same. -
The story so far: Mods at 4chan are banning and censoring any GamerGate thread on the site, WikiLeaks and Asange have commented on the subject by criticizing the censorship, there is a heavily biased wikipedia article that was obviously put there by SJWs, Christina Sommers puts a video talking about the subject. On a personal note; I still want to kick ass an chew bubblegum.
