  1. How does that work though? I think I tried dominating/charming an already dominated/charmed ally and they just stood around idle.
  2. That's without the Community Patch. But if you're playing without it Psion focus regen also breaks on damage.
  3. But why on earth would you go with Psion on a melee character that already does a lot of attacking anyways?
  4. Coincidentally I believe the same abilities refund lots of phrases and empower points on a Chanter with Sasha's Singing Scimitar. Must be the same mechanic at work.
  5. That happens because you used it against someone with the wizard's spell reflection ability. Never use it against wizards unless you want to wipe your own team.
  6. If your rep is too high you can't drop it to negative levels. For example if you max out your Principi reputation you can kill both Furrante and Aeldys in combat and you'll still have neutral reputation with them.
  7. Would rather go with a hunting bow as Devoted helps with both the accuracy penalty and low base penetration. It worked OK for me but was super boring.
  8. I think it's OK. Regarding Distraction Training: it currently feels kind of bad. It is very hard to get your pet's Deflection to reasonable levels since they can't use equipment. It is the same issue as unmodded game's Riposte: on PotD misses are very rare unless you are fighting very easy enemies. Suggest lowering the duration but also make it trigger on grazes. Also might want to check whether it has the same issues with friendly fire as Blessing of Wael which you just fixed.
  9. It is also frankly insane with Swift Flurry/Heartbeat Drumming now that there's not a limited number of triggers. Also a reliable source of crits even vs. megabosses if you want to stay spiritshifted with wildstrike frenzy, as long as you drink potion of enlightenment, bring SC chanter with His Heart Did Fill with the Light of Dawn, have Brilliant, etc.
  10. The librarians get tier 9 abilities, so of course it's going to be rough. I remember being shocked at one of the librarians one-shotting my fairly tanky Watcher from full hp. Turned out he had Inner Death.
  11. If there's one thing I think Deadfire is lacking in, it's the ability to target anyone with single target spells. Such as using Champion's Boon on an enemy, or Silent Scream on an ally. I can see why Withdraw or Beetle Shell could be broken, but why not other spells?
  12. It's stupid because it's only relevant for that one particular quest where you have the option to steal Tawenu's contract by sneaking into the building. Because of this you can't directly fast travel into the building and it's always closed at night.
  13. I suspect it may be the same bug that gives you a crapton of phrases from Avenging Storm/Her Tears Fell Like Rain from Refreshing Encore.
  14. For me it's usually only a factor with chanters. Pretty much all chanter invocations are extremely loud so they tend to draw in enemies from adjacent rooms. Ironically Thunderous Report on Kitchen Stove is quiet.
  15. Yeah it's an amazing buffer versus fire. It's also why I love having Tekehu chant Aefyllath Ues Mith Fyr: it lets you use Crushing Wave recklessly. Also suggest eating Shark Fin Soup/Captain's Banquet as the Oracle's Wall of Many Colors is highly dangerous.
  16. I'm using his balance polishing mod which has a foe only damage AOE. Only deals 12-20 damage (40%), so even in conjunction with my SC beckoner's Animated Weapons, it's not too amazing unless you're actually fighting vessels and spirits. Compare it with Spark the Souls of the Righteous.
  17. Eccea's Arcane Blaster also has a petrify effect via upgrade.. Also useful since it doesn't have penetration issues versus Dorudugan.
  18. I believe you can even use two copies of the same pet by copying them with the machine in the Dark Cupboard.
  19. Was pleasantly surprised to find that Take the Hit works with Damage over Time, since Unbending doesn't. Good in conjunction with a single class Paladin as the half damage that the fighter takes can be instantly healed back through the immolation ability's healing effect.
  20. Having played Deadfire first, I found wizards unbearable in the first game. I hated having to actually aim my spells, e.g. leading the target. There's no CC called "shocking" by the way. Rolling Flame prones like Knock Down, and certain spells may stun or paralyze. Many spells interrupt on crit.
  21. The problem is that Malignant Cloud damage is inherently not that great. Base 13 dmg/3 sec for 10 sec is not good compared to, say, Venombloom, which only does 10 dmg/3 sec but also weakens and frightens and lasts twice as long.
  22. Some jankiness I noticed with summons. I am playing as a level 14 single class beckoner. On a shipboard battle en route to Dunnage, I summon the floating weapons, and they have a PL of 7, and accordingly only 9 power pool. Note that at level 13, they were always PL8. After I reached Dunnage, I fought Torkar, where they reverted back to PL8 again. It might have something to do with shipboard battles, or that I had Acute from Xoti while fighting Torkar but not during the shipboard battle, or it may just be some buggy interaction with community patch/balance polishing mod.
  23. Not sure if it interacts correctly, but pumping Arcana and using scrolls might also be useful. In particular Gaze of the Adragan and Pillar of Holy Fire might be quite good. Scroll of Tornado is relatively easy to craft, and suffers less from not benefiting from intellect as it already has a huge area.
