  1. Thanks for the update. As for the pieces themselves : I've written before that I, too, wasn't a big fan of the Prelude's choral parts - but I understand it's been composed to serve a certain purpose. I like the Dirge, I'm getting definite Icewind Dale vibes from that piece. The ending to the Road is quite nice as well. All in all, it's a nice teaser, Justin P.S. Bagpipes + battle themes : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIOjEAgrNrM
  2. And what if : * You have cast many of your spells and the ones that are off cooldown are not entirely appropriate for the encounters you are now facing. * It will take you three minutes of real time to wait for those spells to be available again. It could be pointed out that, of course, the cooldowns could be lowered considerably to avoid such situatations, but that'd make them absolutely trivial.
  3. I'll just repeat what I've written many times in this topic : The goal here is not realistic, it never was. What many people, who have supported this topic, have actually voiced was their preference for believable and practical. They (and me) simply find it more appealing. Not everyone has to, naturally. I can't agree with the notion that most cRPGs feature realistic designs, however. If anything, that's an extremely rare case - I can only think of Witcher games (out of recent titles).
  4. Well, honestly I find those Kormack works rather generic; there's little point in discussing taste however, so I'll just post another of Sweet's work
  5. In a world were oversized, spiky pauldrons and greatswords the size of a house are a norm, even dull fighters make for a nice change And, as it has been pointed out by The Sharmat, it isn't exactly fair to compare any design from Planescape to PE. It'd be like comparing characters from the Wire and Twin Peaks
  6. Easy to make that mistake I like that mage portrait too, really evocative.
  7. That is actually Jason Manley's work, he made the Icewind Dale I portraits. They do have a slightly similar style though
  8. Could be a set of wallpapers or the like, if they mentioned all the backers. I'm hoping to see new stretch goals myself
  9. Indeed, just take a look at this one : Even if I don't like the Drow myself
  10. I still think that 4 mil. is well within their reach, can't wait to see new stretch goals.
  11. Last weekened was pretty slow, but hopefully the 2,2 mil. goal will be reached today.
  12. I'd love to see far-reaching quests such as the Siamese Twins from Arcanum. Now that was a load of fun; particularly because it's never fully resolved...
  13. Celli are incredibly expressive, much like the human voice. I don't think it's too far fetched to hear something with them in PE... But who knows right? To quote myself "April 2013 is a long way away" Fingers crossed! That said, I'm sure you'll soon amaze us all, Justin! With or without celli Edit : No pressure, haha
  14. Wow! That singer has quite an impressive range! I can see why you like this piece. It's gorgeous. Glad you enjoyed it. Personally, I'm hoping for some cello parts in the game's soundtrack, particularly some arco playing. One can dream right?
  15. Justin, I really liked your "Dawn" piece. In fact I wouldn't mind it being one of the PE's prominent themes. Even if it probably doesn't suit fantasy much. I think you'll enjoy Especially the later parts.
  16. That was just an example, an abstraction, Jarmo.
  17. Or have scimitars and dual-wield pet panthers. Now, THAT would be epic. What about panthers that dual wield scimitars?
  18. Very interesting. I never played ToEE... wasn't it turn based though. I can easily see how you could implemetn spears like that in a TB game but a real time with pause I thinkg would be much more difficult And here's another idea : Spear users would receive defensive boni (e.g. decreasing opponents to hit chance) - but only until first hit connects; afterwards, the defensive bonus would be removed and opponents would receive an offensive bonus. This would simulate warding off attackers with the spear. After they get close, it becomes a liability. This would make attacking them a risky move, but one that could pay off handsomely.
  19. And for combat music, something like this, please : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIOjEAgrNrM
