  1. I don't think that would fly in this case mkreku, since it's Star Wars, and that's intellectual property right there. If it was an independant IP on the other hand.... I mean, look at what Brad Wardell over at Stardock is doing with the distribution of their games. That freaking rocks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, I guess you're right. But once Obsidian starts doing their own IP's they could offer downloadable games through their own FTP.. I'd love that. Down with racist (against us Europeans) publishers!
  2. My history books tell me that Allende was a socialist leader that wanted to take back the land of Chile from huge American corporations that used the Chilean people practically as slaves on their farms. He was going to take back the land and divide it evenly to the farmers. Where did you read about him being a communist (if that's what you mean by "Soviet-style regime")? And please don't confuse an ideology with a madman. Stalin was a madman and no system in the world could have stopped him. Blaming it on communism is too easy and shallow.
  3. I wonder if it would be legal to download the game and send 50$ directly to Obsidian? I read about some guy in Sweden who bought a CD, tried to transfer the songs to his MP3-player but couldn't (because of copy protection systems), returned the CD to the store, downloaded the songs from the internet and then sent 20$ directly to the music company. He got away with it.
  4. One more thing: When the skyscrapers were both burning heavily the people in my dorm were screaming, "They're gonna collapse!", and I tried to calm them down by saying, "No, they won't! Skyscrapers are built to withstand the impact of a Boeing!". Of course, minutes later the towers did collapse and four years of studying construction and mechanics of materials went down the drain.
  5. Not necessary.
  6. Flawed logic. If the game does get crappy reviews, they'd want it to be on the market at the same time in the US and Europe so noone has time to read reviews before running off to the game stores.
  7. I hate the feeling of being second rate just because I use my PC as my gaming platform. It actually made me happy when they said that both versions were going to be released at the same time. Then it felt like Obsidian, at least, would hold the PC banner high. It's that disappointment that hurts me the most. On the other hand, pirating this game to "punish" the developers is absolutely moronic. No matter the release dates, you should always support the quality developers who spend their working days making games for us. Unfortunately, this gap between the US and the European release dates is bound to take its toll om the sales over here. It's sad that LucasArts doesn't understand how much they hurt themselves by this decision.
  8. Oh, and by the way, I think they pay you way too much money over at Midway.. What does Romero drive?
  9. Read more about the Chile coup here: http://www.krysstal.com/democracy/display_...icle=1973_chile One huge black dot in the history of american foreign politics.
  10. The front on the new Audi is so damn nice looking! I love how they've made the grill almost touch the ground (is grill an english word?)
  11. I remember playing an online game at the time (a MUD called Medievia) and someone yelled on one of the channels in the game "A plane has crashed into WTC!" and I didn't believe him. So I checked one of the big news sites in Sweden and it had just crashed from the enormous amount of pressure when everyone in Sweden had tried the same thing as me at the same time. Then I understood this was for real. So I went home and everyone in my dorm (I was living in a dorm at the time) were glued in front of the public TV. Then came the other plane..
  12. Is that Ume
  13. IGN posted an interview with D.W. Bradley recently, which can be found here: http://pc.ign.com/articles/546/546260p1.html Strange that the promised demo hasn't arrived yet. The text on the homepage says "Coming in September!" now.
  14. I drive a bike. But I used to own a 1974 VW Rabbit (Golf in Europe)! Mint green. Lovely.
  15. Spellmar vs. Volourn.
  16. The picture used in my presentation on NordicGamers can be seen here.
  17. Sweden of course! I even have tickets to the Finland - Sweden game in Hartwall Arena, Helsinki, Finland next weekend (September 4)! It's going to be awesome! Even though the tickets cost more than 100$ each..
  18. What the.. SHUT UP! Go, Leafs, go!!! Anyhow.. Sweden will win the world cup of hockey and Leafs captain Mats Sundin will carry the cup home!
  19. I guess you must have missed the anti-Bush threads in Off Topic then.. Even developers can get pissy sometimes.
  20. White or very light grey in Firefox 0.9
  21. Yes, and you can find it here : http://www.theprodukkt.com/
  22. Obsidian vs. Bioware? or Neverwinter Nights 2 vs. Dragon Age?
  23. Yes, I mean fps-style mouse look. When I reviewed KotOR, I "took away" points because of the controls. It felt too much like a hasty console port because of the horizontal mouse look. I would love if you at least made it a choice. Perhaps put the feature of full mouse look in, but put the default to the old KotOR style?
  24. There's a program called G-Spot that tells you which codec a video file needs. But if you want to get rid of the problem with codecs, I would suggest the VLC player to you. It is free, compatible with almost all video formats and you can find it here: http://www.videolan.org/
  25. They once had a contest in a swedish computer magazine in the eighties (Datormagazinet) where you were supposed to write the game Centipede/Snake (a small, constantly moving worm that eats apples and becomes longer and longer for every fruit he eats, and the game ends if he hits a wall or his own body) for the Commodore 64. The shortest entry would be the winner. The guy who won the contest wrote that game in like 3-5 lines of Basic code! I wish I could find that piece of code because it's still the most impressive piece of programming I've ever seen. You just typed it in (took perhaps 2 minutes) and you had a fully functioning game, with a score and everything. Amazing.
