Holy crap, just read about it on Eurogamer! Now THIS is good new! Edit: Might as well include the link since I mentioned it: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/fallout-new-vegas-unveiled

I found these posts on the Risen forums and they were so interesting and good that I had to repost them here. They're written by an employee at Deep Silver, the publishers of Risen, and touches on the subject of what it takes to publish an AAA title, why Gothic 3 was such a failure and why he hopes that Risen will not step on the same mines: Kind of beats "our game is going to be awesome" or Rorie's "We can't tell you anything.. about anything.." standard answers, huh?

This, an oxymoron, don't you think? Reading/playing Planescape: Torment is like going through a rough draft, before any editing has occurred. Where a good author needs ten lines of text, a great author uses one.

I realize that what the Pirate Bay stands for is not completely legitimate. But even when they are breaking the law, they are giving the small people a voice. Before the Pirate Bay, noone had a chance to oppose the music industry. Even if you wanted just one song, you had to buy an album. An album that cost something like $20-30 in Sweden. Ridiculously overprized. The music industry demanded that everyone followed their rules and paid exuberant prices for their wares. There was no alternatives, no choice, Everyone who wanted to listen to music had to play by monopolistic rules. The Pirate Bay, although illegal, made it clear what people want: if they like one song, they don't want the entire album. With the rise of torrent sites, the small individual got a voice: we don't like the monopoly that the music industry forces on us. We don't like to be forced to buy entire albums because we want one song. We want to be able to transfer the songs we bought to any MP3-player or media player we want. I honestly don't think the music industry would have even jumped on the Ipod Store if it hadn't been because they had to. Why would they? Without piracy they could have kept on demanding people to pay ridiculous prizes for stuff they didn't really want. And pay TWICE for one CD-version and one MP3-version for their MP3-player. Don't kid yourself and think that they wouldn't have done that. I'm too drunk to find the quote, but a Sony representative once said it was theft to transfer their CD collection to their MP3-player! It's theft to transfer the songs you've bought from one media to another! If that isn't wrong, then I don't know what is. In a way I'm glad that torrent sites exist. In another way I realize that they're destructive in the long run. I just wish democracy had a way of expressing itself without stealing the work of others, in a legitimate way. Torrents is the closest we've gotten so far, which is sad.

This verdict will not stand.

A suave option? I wonder if we'll be able to flirt up that old man?

Hmm, Red Wings aren't looking as dominant as they probably should. Columbus are playing good so far. Edit: Haha, 15 seconds after I posted that, Red Wings score! Edit 2: Aha! Columbus scores! Told you they're playing good! Edit 3: Holy crap, they needed like 5 seconds on the power play to score 3-1! Fantastic powerplay!

What's a superfan? A jet engine? KotOR3 fanatics? What? WHAT?? This suspense is killing me!

Lundqvist totally stole that game. Of course, I went to bed when it was 3-3 because I couldn't keep my eyes open
-
Ovechkin solved Lundqvist!! Edit: And Gomez immediately answers with one of his own! Great game so far!
-
Solid first period between Washington and the Rangers. Ovechkin is as fun to watch as usual. In between scoring chances, he's bulldozing his opponents with fantastic hits. Lundqvist has started off strong and is looking as good as he can be. No goals so far. If only I wasn't so tired..

Thanks, Funky rock! It looks great! Let's hope that they'll show off some of the conversations, town views, character sheets and combat (mostly combat animation, since that has been a concern) in the next video.

Not sure if I can give you any worthwhile advice. All I know is that you'll end up in Nordstaden (shopping mall next to the Central station). For some reason everyone ends up there sooner or later. If you want to buy alcohol outside of bars, you need to find a shop (there are plenty of them) called Systembolaget. It's still expensive, but it's around 1/3-1/4 of the price in bars at least. If you're going to bang a blonde, wear a condom. They may look like angels.. If you want to buy nice designer clothes, find a place called D.O. (Design Only). Expensive but high quality and always the latest fashion, with lots of Swedish designers. T-shirts are usually around $50-100 and sweatshirts $200-300 there. If you want to go out to party, I haven't really found any great places.. yet. But I can still recommend Excet (if you enjoy dance music and pop.. and lots of young blondes) and Sticky Fingers (more rock.. and lots of young blondes). Nefertiti is a meat market if you're desperate. If you're interested in architecture, make sure you visit the Opera house. A guided tour is recommended. If you want to see an old castle ruin and be able to throw rocks at seagulls, you can take a ferry to Elfsborgs f

I understand what he's feeling at least, even though I don't agree with his statements. When I first picked up Gothic, it was an unknown franchise and it wasn't even released in Scandinavia. Playing Gothic and talking about it on different forums felt like being part of a small, almost secret, passionate group. As the Gothic franchise's popularity grew, that feeling became vaguer and vaguer and after a while it started feeling like any mainstream game (except when playing the game itself, of course). I know it's incredibly silly to even think like that and I do of course wish Piranha Bytes all the success in the world, but sometimes I miss the "old days" of being part of the dedicated, "underground" Gothic gang.

My predictions! Western: San Jose vs. Anaheim - San Jose in 5. They're tired of being seen as play-off underachievers and they will show it against Anaheim. Detroit vs. Columbus - Detroit in 6. As usual, Detroit will underestimate their early opponents and make the series longer than needed. But they will win. Vancouver vs. St. Louis - Vancouver in 6. Have faith in Sundin! Calgary vs. Chicago - Chicago in 7. Their youth and speed will simply overwhelm Calgary and Kiprusoff over a long series. Eastern: Boston vs. Montreal - Boston in 4. Sorry, but this will be the only sweep of the first round. Chara will see to it. Washington vs. Rangers - Washington in 7. Ovechkin against Lundqvist! I will follow this series closely. It will probably be tight. New Jersey vs. Carolina - New Jersey in 6. I'm not dumb enough to bet against Brodeur. Again. Pittsburgh vs. Philadelphia - Pittsburgh in 6. Philadelphia are strong and healthy this time, but Pittsburgh's talent will prevail.

I bought this game straight from the developer! It was only a 70 MB (or so) download so it was OK. The game is excellent, if a little on the short side. I absolutely love the mapping skill! The combat is pretty fun, the small world is well thought out and detailed and the quests are obviously hand made and feel like they're made with passion instead of cut and paste. If only the game had been longer and had more content, I would have recommended it to everyone. Now I've only recommended it to old school RPG fans who enjoyed games like Utima 4-5 and the like. Obviously to noone here, damn Bioweenies.

Feel free to provide some sort of proof, unless you're making this **** up on the spot.

I would actually recommend Enemy Of the State too, if only because of the insane tempo that movie drives up. And for the spy tech. And the scene in the lingerie store :D

What we've seen so far from Obsidian are two games based on another company's framework (not counting expansion packs). Alpha Protocol is Obsidian's first attempt at their own technology (well, their own base modification of Unreal tech at least) and their own IP. Normally I would say that those two facts would bring more passion and personal sacrifice into the project than doing a sequel for someone else's IP, but after reading M. Markland's leaving comments of "Business is business", I'm not really sure how much of a work of passion there is left in computer game design. Anyhow, I have high hopes for this game. Aside from some small design decisions I'm not sure I agree with, I have high hopes for this game. It sounds like something I would greatly enjoy.

Play.. offs? What's that? Unheard of expression! /not bitter Leafs fan

Aww, you're so mainstream. I mean the Hooked version, released in 1989, not the mainstream To The Extreme version, released in 1990. BACK IN THE GAME!!

Which Conversation Option Will You Choose?

Ice Ice Baby - Vanilla Ice It's so bad it's good. And it's hugely annoying that "it's not allowed for your region" on Youtube. WTF?!
