The company gave everybody the friday off, which essentially doubled the days off I get on account of christmas. Next week is going to be interesting, mostly because everybody at work has basically started during the past year, so it's me and 10 recent uni graduate girls. Kind of wish I hadn't learned to keep my paws of girls I have to work with, there's basically just the one who meets the "I only have to see her at the cafeteria if this goes south" test. Wish I could just unwind with a few really close people, but have to go to my cousin's for the eve. They'd qualify otherwise, but the material and gastronomic hysteria is just too much for me.

Yeah, can't imagine wth they were thinking. I managed to get it done pretty smoothly, even if I got hit by the absurd website queue in the beginning. Still seems like a totally unnecessary annoyance in general, I'm probably getting a new credit card first thing next year, so I'll just have to go through it again before it actually kicks off. Apart from that, actually having a lot more fun than I had in the beta (either they've rebalanced things or the jedi knight is just a ton more fun to play than the consular was), but still so exhausted from work only manage 1-2 hours before need to hit the hay

Mmh. And for the record, it was a joke. I'm confused. Oh, that's all right then. I've met my targets for the day. Bedtime. (I was talking about my off-hand comment that was met with extensive analysis.)

Laugh, you somehow managed to stay ignorant of this crap for years, you lucky bastard. ^^ Or do all three simultaneously.

My strongest hangover recollection is from the night I'd turned in my master's thesis. I had a couple of friends who'd been RIF'd from an IT company and had just gotten their golden parachutes. I still vividly remember every part of the night, as well as the feeling the next morning. The old joke about holding onto the bed with both hands so that you don't fall off? It was that morning and a better part of the day. My mother brought me some local finnish orange soda widely known for it's hangover curative powers... at around 5pm, after she'd left work. These days, I mostly have a finger or two of single malt, like today with my parents. Instead of getting analysis paralysis or going into unrequited love mode with the economist, I'm just gonna ask for a drink next week, so I can get immediately shot down and keep my mind on the work. The amount of which is starting to pick up rapidly, but I've worked a lot more for considerably less, so can't really complain. Still pretty far from my comfort zone, to say the least.

Is there another ME3 apart from the one that's coming out in early March?
-
And finished it with kind of speaks volumes. :D You've consumed a small pouch of speed? Just bipolar, I'm afraid. :D

It was a nice touch in DXHR, too. Haven't had the time to play since Sunday. Next chance, Thursday, then maybe a little bit Friday, then probably not until Tuesday: (
-
But wouldn't imploding the country be the best possible outcome?
-
The youngest one, not the one who wanted to see Disneyland Tokyo.
-
I essentially played through DXHR twice in one sitting - so I hope you have the rest of the week off!

Why neocon? It's not uncommon to hire people on a contract/project basis. Sometimes they get extended beyond the original scope, sometimes continuation depends on milestones being met (and may terminate prematurely). Yes, but I'm talking about the whole team here. + it was 7 AM when I wrote that. Trust me, I'm familiar with the concept of contracting, I've never had a "steady" job in my life.
-
Sure, it helps, but apart from Valve and Blizzard, who are rolling in it, who can do it these days? I guess DXHR did, too, but they could afford it because they didn't have to support an entire team the whole time, but hire people as they went. Well, I guess that would be the neocon way of doing it, sack everybody after completing the game, then hire them back as needed. No, you were the first whiner in this thread - since I was arguing viewpoints and not people. For the rest, I'll just echo what Vol said. Generally discussions allow for more than a single point of view, but that's never been the strong suit of Internet in general, nor this forum in particular. I read a study the other day that said only ~20 % of gamers participate in discussions re: games. I wonder which came first?

Yeah, recycling 3 areas was absolutely AMAZING when they did it in Mass Effect 1, but it totally ruined DA2.

I think the fact that I started the weekend with this: And finished it with kind of speaks volumes. :D

Suspect securom, since the "black screen freeze" issue used to be paired with no-disc patches. Of course since it's you guys, I'm gonna assume win7 just broke compatibility
-
There was a box? It was DVD case from the start here (KOTOR1 too). Also 4 Discs instead of 1 DVD even if it was totally the rule here in Europe. :/ O_o Pretty sure the version I have is 1 dvd. Now I'm gonna stay up all night cursing that I'm not at home and thus unable to check it.

Especially if you can do basic math. Bioware Edmonton runs two teams. Due to fubaring the DAO schedule, both teams wound up releasing games two months apart. Situation had to be fixed so that shared QA resources (which, apart from administration, is shared between the teams to a degree) wouldn't be taxed at the same time (and publisher wouldn't shoot itself in the let by releasing two RPGs from their top RPG studio essentially simultaneously), so we got the rushed DA2 and the extended development ME3 (which admittedly was further extended by delays to SWTOR). I think anyone can accept that the other option, developing DA2 over 3-4 years after the DAO fiasco wasn't a viable option, especially since it still wouldn't have please the people who can't be pleased. Based on this, I'm more inclined to base my expectations on past Bioware track record without including DA2 - which I'm on record as having enjoyed in spite of its issues, anyway.

Because it's rained for two days straight, I'm a lot less excited about summer. Yeah, that makes as much sense. Huh? The latest singleplayer rpg from the developer failed to impress him so he's not so optimistic about the next game from them.. that seems perfectly fair? If I based my expectations on a new release based on how the studio's last game worked, I wouldn't still be at the obsidian board. In this case, there is basically **** all shared between the two teams working on the different franchises, so the correlation between the two games is roughly in the neighborhood of how this December's weather reflects with what I'm gonna get in July. Sure, it can suck, but it won't be because December sucked.

Wait, yes it was. And it was awesome.

Meh, would really like to do Esseles, but doesn't seem to be on the menu.
