  1. So you don't use arbitrary classifications just between games, but also to place yourself above other people?
  2. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. That was a joke.
  3. Stop hungarian around and just tell me who Drizzt is. I'm not jesting. Or, actually, don't tell me. I don't care, moron. Edit: Oh, some D&D character. Okay, keep fighting the good fight, nerds. Said the man with 8300 posts in an crpg forum, while slowly suffocating in irony.
  4. And where did that happen? In California, I presume. Sounded like he was talking about Edmonton to me, but you're probably closer to the mark.
  5. ^^ what he said. The man's a hack, the icewind trilogy was pretty good (but I was like 12 at the time I read it, so YMMV), but even my teenage nerd self was unable to tell his later efforts apart. Eh, like once and dined off it for, what, two decades?
  6. What's this, I thought I was the one who ruined this forum for everybody! More seriously, though, am enjoying this a lot, I've always personally found that the thought of playing bg1 is actually a lot more appealing than actually playing it, so this kind of gets me the best of both worlds. Thinking of digging my old bg1 saves up and giving 2 a spin, soonish. Keep up the good work, Tigranes.
  7. I agree, but I also think that his next choice of employment cast enough light on his comments in general to make them rather suspect. There's still an impressive amount of people who worked on BG1 still in the company who've not seen fit to move on after ~15 years there... Hell, if you were similarly inclined you could twist this to similar, rather nasty results. Edit: after a quick look at Mobygames, it looks like 2-3 of the the 7-8 guys who were still there from the Shattered Steel team did leave after Origins. Leaving the two docs, James Ohlen and John Winski, afaict.
  8. I have highly unpleasant memories from Durlag's Tower and the werewolf shipwreck. Let's hope I won't have to live them vicariously.
  9. I remember one guy who was widely quoted before da2 came out. I think he went to work at some online gambling site, unless I'm mistaken.
  10. Agreed, also why I do basically no online gaming at all.
  11. Taerom was one of the (many) people in BG that was used from existing Forgotten Realms material. That would kinda be missing the point, if the Ankheg armor is still statwise a +2 Plate Mail.... BGs were kind of bendy with those rules, anyway, even in 2 at least the shadow dragon mail passed for leather/"organic".
  12. Boo, you really shouldn't blame Bioware for "that one time in gym class" you had. Perhaps Morgoth can hook you up with his shrink, he seems a lot better-adjusted, these days...
  13. Mmh, over-specifity in legislation almost guarantees loopholes for the clever (and the fabulously wealthy who can hire clever people to find loopholes for them) to exploit. K.I.S.S.
  14. I'm not bothered by weapons and armor. My main concern would be missing out on any NPC party members or sidequests that are only available in the CE. If that's not the case, then I won't buy the CE. Never been done before, and the "bonus mission and character" mentioned in the CE blurb lacks the magic word "exclusive". Would be out of character for them anyway, can make more money this way.
  15. AFAIK, Ray runs the whole shebang, while Greg is in charge of SWTOR. Aaryn Flynn is in charge of the Edmonton studio (he's been in Bioware since BG2). I suspect they all still have fairly significant creative control, even if it's on a higher level than the project/"creative" directors. Nope. But the exclusive bit will be weapons and armor of some kind, and in ME2 they were both virtually useless. Past performance also suggests that whatever is preorder exclusive at gamestop won't be available down the line (nor the Origin exclusive item, I'd wager), but everything else will be. Any actual content in the CE will be also available as Day1 DLC (like with DA2).
  16. Empirical? I knew I should have done [whatever it is you are doing]
  17. And this was such a fun thread before you guys had to start measuring handbags. This is going to be fun. What weapon do you have me spec'd for? But how do you have a paladin in the group and NOT have him set up for two handed swords? That just seems so wrong! Deraldin, you can be my wingman any time. I would, but I think that jerk my friend Nepenthe stole is using the hammer. It looks like I'm using a flail. Come on Nepenthe, you've got a fighter's THAC0! What do you need the best cleric weapon in the game for? This is obviously not an optimal solution. Also, I think greylord should give up that wonderful Ankheg armour. It's not like he'll be anywhere near melee combatants where he would need every precious point of AC, he is an archer afterall. But... it's like someone else put it in my hand! Besides, aren't I preachy enough to qualify for a cleric weapon, at least?!
  18. Yeah I asked a few of the neighbours if they seen anything, which they hadn't, police weren't that interested since nothing was stolen. Strangely when I was at the post office this afternoon the woman there was saying there had been a lot of brake ins around here, where nothing was stolen, but intruders assault/attack the residents for fun. Ended up buying an alarm, just one that monitored door movement, more than anything to ensure I'm not caught with my pants down. That's a really stupid attitude for the cops have, breaking into an apartment/inhabited building is a lot more problematic than the off-chance they carry your tv off.
  19. I didn't realise the two games had anything in common. Wait, I still don't. Nothing? Seems a fair bit to me - crappy tactical shooter mechanics tacked onto an RPG with your stat based upgrade system that tries to do everything but isn't great in anything, and oh yeah, embarrassing boss battles. Alpha Protocol does do one thing pretty great though, the dialogue system, including it's decent characters. Deus Ex looks like a similiar experience with weaker character interaction, the sole thing that makes Alpha Protocol enjoyable. I dunno, I disagree with everything you say here. The two certainly play completely differently. And I actually like them both. If gaming's become such a chore, maybe you should pick up knitting or zumba. Or I could pick up you and body slam you. I don't even need to think of a witty answer to this, you've already ridiculed yourself. :D

  21. ^^ I sense a hardware upgrade coming at casa Nepenthe.
  22. I don't know what you said but it sounds dirty. A bulwarker is basically just a big spring in a piston arrangement. You push the two ends together.
