  1. Not worth the absurd amount of whining, either.
  2. My 74 yo dad has an ipad. Since he also has a mac, icloud takes care of all "file transfers" he has need for. Which is more than I do, if you want to move files to a tablet, you're better off buying something else, anyway. I rarely notice the lack of flash, if ever.
  3. This. A thousand times this. The prequals were an abomination. This is what I was thinking, too. With Spielberg's producing partner taking the branch over, we might see him helming the new movie...
  4. I found the villain lady ultimately unsatisfying Nepenthe, mainly because she's just a slave for the mcguffin rather than having any kind of realistic human motivation, apart from the the massively overused and simplified, "mages are dangerous," backstory. The mcguffin invalidated any motivation or logical impetus. Obviuously there was was not much of a logical reason in the conflict anyway, with the mages fighting for freedom and equality in feudal kingdoms (so they can go back to the nobilities bondage rather than the templars.) Even so I expected far better from the makers of Master Li in Jade Empire, who was quite impressively well reasoned. I'd rather have an antagonist like him, Irenicus, Kreia or any of many others, who are shown interacting with the protagonist throughout the game rather than one introduced when it's mostly over. Whose motivations are human and logical rather than nothing more than mcguffin born madness. I did not feel I had accomplished anything when approaching the last battle, other than pity for the lady and a fair amount of disgust for the entire conflict and its staging ground, as well as having the patience of a saint for putting up with the waves. Still as I say, it passed the time for sixty hours or so which is I suppose its raison d'etre fulfilled, so i'm not as passionately derisive as others. You're right, of course, and the reason I mentioned the caveats - I just think that it's another one of those things that is conceptually good in DA2 (and somewhat ME2) yet fails in execution, as opposed to things that were already conceptually bad in, say, DAO and ME3. Nowhere near the examples you mentioned, of course.
  5. I've been enjoying Gorth's comments on his DA2 playthrough, since he seems to have approached it with a genuinely open mind, something most (including probably myself in spite of my best wishes) have been unable to do. I think it's highlighted that the game actually has quite a few redeeming qualities, even if it fails to gel. In fact, I'd take a villain (I'd put some caveats here, but they're a bit spoilerish) over DAO and ME3 type introduced at last second faceless opponents any day. I hope that's something we're going to see more from. I still think the Boss from Pool of Radiance was a wonderful concept.
  6. That's actually a great idea. *pops blade runner*
  7. Unfortunately, that's true. Organic product chains lack the ultra-controlled nature of non-organic (often vertically integrated) ones and tend to be a lot more vulnerable to bugs entering the stuff on the way to you. Also, feeling depressed. I wish I could have that paranoid fear of being left alone so many friends of mine use as an excuse of shacking up with the first girl they meet, instead of the current situation, where I meet someone I connect with on an intellectual level ever 2-4 years and it goes catastrophically wrong every time.
  8. Heh, looks like another project I'll have to back. Have quite a few good memories of Shadowgate.
  9. Thanks for the comments, guys. We established long ago that she loved two men and had to pick one, I came second. I know it wasn't exactly easy on her, but I'd still prefer being in her position than in mine - namely loving two women and not getting either one of them. ;P
  10. Skyfall was genius. Or more like it straddled that fine line between genius and insanity (I like to think I'm familiar with it) and tipped more on the side of genius (I'm less sure about that in my case).
  11. I watched some of your video, but there is only stomach so much of Russia Today. Seriously, it is like the Fox News of Russia, only even more biased. I do not even consider it a legitimate news source. I agree. Russian TV is the most biased and propaganda fulled News Channel I have ever had the unfortunate pleasure of being afflicted to watch. RT is a global English-speaking news network. "Russia Today is a government-funded Russian television network". Doesn't mean what they say is necessarily untrue, it'll just have that spin on it. Edit: Ninja'd... I went for a cuppa in the middle of that post ;P
  12. heh. I've actually had something similar said from my Le Grande Ex. It does not make it easier. The fact that she'd starved herself for a month to fit into a stunning strapless green pre-pregnancy gown for my Special Day to say that to me really makes it sting. I mean, it's not like it was too far from my mind either.
  13. On that note, the (I mean THE, the one that got away) ex told me last week that she'd really like to stick her tongue into my mouth if she weren't still married to the guy she left me for. I also have a splitting headache. I have an urge to connect the two.
  14. Of course, when there are no new users, we're still retreading the old ground.
  15. Also, splurged a bit on a nicer suit, actually quite enjoying wearing one now. Wish I lived in one of those countries where lawyers are actually overpaid so I could get some tailored.
  16. The most feminine sport in existence ;P Tell that to the person I packed today with a power spike! \m/ Sure, big tough leggy amazons, but still feminine. The best kind, really.
  17. Got back to work after defending dissertation in public and five days in London. I have a splitting headache, 627 unread emails and I'd cut my credit cards if it weren't already too late - and I never even made it to Jermyn Street. All in all, an awesome time was had.
  18. I'm thinking of moving to Sweden and finding a gym called "FIT TAN". You're all invited!
  19. Got pre-premiere tickets to skyfall on thursday... Thanks american express platinum! ;P
  20. The most feminine sport in existence ;P
  21. How are your (in-game ) siblings doing?
  22. Okay thanks, but 28% is still a huge difference for the same job. Is this something that is known about and accepted or is this behavior that is actually illegal? AFAIK that statistic hasn't been normalised for "same job", at least the one I see most commonly tossed around doesn't have that taken into account. Kind of reminds me of a statistic we had here. How only the children of the wealthiest men get into the university. They compared the father's income of law and medical students to the national average, noting how a large portion of them where in the highest earning brackets. Ignoring the fact that employed people in their 50s tend to be the highest earners, on average.
  23. TWO HANDS AND ONE MOUTH! Anyway, too bad I missed the party, but I'm a nervous wreck this week and have to sleep when I can. Looking forward to the end product.
  24. I've also been hoping I could upgrade to 500 in a month or so, but I can also see the point of taking it down earlier to keep it more "unique".
  25. Obviously, I have an above-average interest in the EEs, as the Mac version of BG has never worked on OS X, and BG2 not on Intel. I have both the games on the win partitions of all computers I own, and frankly, I get tired of the amount of compulsory mods I have to install every time. Worth it for the time saving, alone, not sure to what degree all the compulsory bg2 mods will deprecated, but we'll see.
