I like that beginners miss a lot. It's sort of realistic (and at the same time, not), and some game systems I've played (Dark Age Vampire; a local RPG mixed (badly) with DnD) easily ended up having one hit kill battles (usually with our victory - my BFF is a natural at making one man slaughterhouses). Not much more fun either. After a while. OTOH, constantly missing while the GM rolls devastating criticals...ugh..bane of my existence.
