Hmm, I disagree to a degree. Yes, there's some cheap Epic Save The World Fantasy elements that keep popping up every now and then, plus some characters are pretty amateurishly handled (Braham's tantrum, Livia's "personality") or scenes fall a bit flat (was unimpressed with Kralk's death scene, personally), but I'd say the overall quality of the writing has gone up, especially compared to the base game, but that's a low hurdle to clear. There's decent twists, some scenes hit the emotional levers just right, actual payoff to earlier setup, the elder dragons (or Kralk at least) have *gasp* personalities, and I find more than 2 companions likable now. I enjoyed the HoT story for what it was, but at the same time wasn't wowed. All that said, the story has enough individual parts one can like or dislike that every person you ask would have a different opinion on what works and what doesn't, I think.

That's disappointing to hear and the lack of any news about the game already stopped me from expecting anything in the first place. Their website claims Necromunda's "iconic gangs" will be in the game. As someone who never played the board game, are those gangs in any way interesting? The two they showed in the cinematic trailer looked so boring it turned me off the game even more. Plus I was hoping to play Arbitrators. Or settle for the Enforcers(?) as discount Arbitrators. Now I'm not sure even they'll be in the game.

Guild Wars 2 has a decent story once you reach the first expansion and the subsequent living story episodes. FF14 is praised for the story of the first, but especially the second xpac. Friends of mine have been praising Blade and Soul's story, though I haven't played it. I've heard good things about LOTRO too from the forumites here. But yeah, there's not a lot to pick from if you want an MMO with worthwhile storytelling, I'm still convinced that any story you do in an MMO, no matter how good, would be a lot better as a singleplayer game.

Finally did a playthrough of Subnautica, now that I didn't feel crippling fear at anything below 50 meters anymore. Now on to Star Traders: Frontiers and booooooooy that's a lot of interface.
