  1. I think any character should learn Ice Lance spell. It makes liberating cities (and melee combat) much much easier... especially that city way in the north with the 4 or 5 Orc shamans. The best spells in the game like summon golem/demon take 200+ ancient knowledge, IIRC. What I really like about the game is the beginning. One is immediately thrown in a pretty tough fight, instead of being forced to trudge through an insipid 1 hour tutorial or "origin" story. It reminded me of Beyond good & evil... I have fond memories of wiping out the Orcs, then heading to the beach and getting owned by wolves in two or three hits.
  2. In FO3 one could launch nukes from one of the SatCOM arrays, no? One could even (try to) launch a ballistic missile in Fort Constantine. It will probably be something similar in New Vegas.
  3. Gothic 3 is awesome, but I screwed up the main quest by wiping out Cape Dun shortly after the beginning of the game and forgetting to pick up a fire chalice from an Orc merchant. Whoops. Not sure if it can be cheated back into my inventory... I quit playing doing things in Mora Sul when I realized what I had done. I found it easiest to use ranged against wilderness animals. Melee against a pack of wolves is just hell. And it's too much work trying to beat an ogre or troll in melee. Like in Risen, it's ridiculous how animals can dodge blows and even block (mine crawlers), and generally fight better than humans or Orcs. But ranged combat is teh win... taking out the demon in the paladin fortress is very easy with ranged as well. To boost ancient knowledge, it's best to visit Varant as soon as possible. There's a lot of tablets & pillars to be read there. Best sword I forged was the ruby sword, I think. I never found the flaming sword blueprint that can supposedly bought somewhere very early. Heck, I should probably reinstall the game sometime.
  4. In Mothership Zeta there was an orbital laser as well. Maybe it will somehow be connected. But what I'd really like is a Giddyup Buttercup superweapon that shoots laser beams from its eyes (also seen in Mothership Zeta). It could serve both as vehicle
  5. Adventure games are the best games for kids. It teaches them to think and they can enjoy a good story at the same time. There's already enough violent crap on television.
  6. The only MMO I ever tried was Age of Conan... it's the only one with interesting lore & setting. But I quit as soon as I had to download a few gigabytes of patches & updates. My internet doesn't have the powah for crap like that.
  7. I found that FO3 is very easy, until two Deathclaws suddenly pop up out of nowhere and rape my level 30 character (with all but two skills maxed out) in seconds before I know what's going on. Or even worse, albino radscorpions. That said, giving a perk every three levels + making perks harder to achieve would make the game more challenging for a while. Especially perks like Sniper or Better criticals... those perks effectively end the game combat-wise. And maybe the Grim Reaper Sprint perk (aka Win Button) should be removed from the game altogether.
  8. Melee combat never really became easy in Risen. Lizards could kill you in two hits if you screwed up no matter what, and considering one fought groups in small quarters in the final chapters this happened all the time. Just like in Gothic 3 where groups of wilderness animals could rape your character in seconds even when you were level 50. Easiest way to win the game in Risen is maxing out Ice crystal & swords. That way you can simply freeze & shatter everything. In a way Gothic 3 was more challenging since it took much longer before one became strong in magic... and first time one played the game one had absolutely no idea how to boost Ancient Knowledge quickly.
  9. Why was Zaeed free and not Kasumi? Isn't Zaeed's mission about the same length, if not longer?
  10. Toughest squirrel ever
  11. Can't anyone just finish Dune Nukem Forever?
  12. Even a wannabe mage is forced to take sword training since staves suck bigtime in comparison. I learnt this the hard way when I had to beat some scoundrel to get out of Harbour Town. Took half an hour to slowly chip away his health bar while he could 'kill' Lincoln Burrows in two hits. Melee combat is simply horrible without at least 5 ranks in swords.
  13. So from what I've read, this game is similar to Total Overdose? Insane stunts & numbers on the screen and all that?
  14. I'll just point out that Guido Henkel had nothing to do with the development & release of Drakensang. He left the gaming industry in 2000. He's known for the Realms of Arkania trilogy.
  15. Have you played the game? I do not really understand this comment. The only thing that felt lower budget about Drakensang compared to a stateside release, was the incomplete voice-over. Unlike the Witcher, there weren't any major issues with performance, bugs & crashes at all... because the game was foremost made for a German audience (and won German RPG of the year).
  16. of DA:Awakenings.
  17. Interestingly in the Qu'ran, Satan did have free will since he was not an angel, but a djinn. Maybe in the Christian Bible, God created Satan to test humanity. And of course, humanity kept failing these tests all the time.
  18. Heh. Sounds like secondary schools in Antwerp or Brussels here. Brussels may be the capital of Europe, it's an even bigger cesspool than Paris. I loathe having to travel to that stinking city for hours each day for work. O tempora, o mores.
  19. I'm surprised people abroad even drink Stella. It's hardly considered more than sewer water here. I've never been much a fan of Belgian beers. They tend to be too sweet for me. I want more bitter hops and/or richly toasted barley, not something that tastes like some apricots have been rotting in it. Duvel Most Belgian abbey beers have a bitter, blond variant too, as opposed to the dark, sweeter kind. Best beers though are the 'trappist', that are only brewed in abbeys. There are only 7 of those: Orval, La Trappe, Westmalle, Westvleteren, Chimay, Rochefort & Achel. Westvleteren, IIRC, can only be bought directly from the abbey.
  20. And yet we'll still play it for laughs if it's a guy being raped.
  21. German language fail.
  22. Funny that her surname happens to be "Chavez".
  23. Was Putin a KGB field agent, or did he just have desk job?
