  1. Against liches, a reflect spell was much more useful. THe point of spell absorption was to never run out of mana when you repeatedly cast spells at walls to level up. Morrowind removed advantages/disadvantages, but strangely enough removed the limit on training so that munchkining was even more effortless than in Daggerfall.
  2. I managed to get Battlespire to run, but even with tweaked Dosbox configuration I get only 10-20 fps. It's playable, but not exactly fun this way. Pity, since it's a great game.
  3. Daggerfall already had broken character creation. You could create a level 1 god, basically, by dumping Personality and Luck and picking Spell Absorption as advantage + Weakness to Magic as disadvantage.
  4. Do they also believe in gravity?
  5. If we're going full hyperbole... Arena looked better than Skyrim.
  6. Interpreting the Bible literally leads to believing in geocentrism and a flat earth, I can't believe even creationists would stoop that low. On the other hand, a Muslim colleague of mine (otherwise a very intelligent man) takes the Qu'ran literally. Not to mention in general muslim children around here are encouraged by the imam to reject the "nonsense" they learn at school, because everything there is to know is in the Qu'ran. At least the Roman Catholic Church has officially accepted the theory of evolution; I'm pretty sure the various protestant churches have as well.
  7. Androgynous characters in a medieval world aside, it's like they took every possible element from western fantasy and European mythologies and threw them into a melting pot without any thought whatsoever. Anyway, if it comes to PC I'll play it anyway. R00fles!

  9. Max finally grew some balls.
  10. Looks like the Pitt.
  11. It looks great to me, and unlike Twitcher 2 I'll be able to run it on my 4-year-old computer with a decent framerates.
  12. Are you using DOSBOX? Or something else? I tried to get dagger.exe running in DOSBOX some years ago but it was hopeless. I would love to play the game again if I could get it running. Get the Ready-to-play version and additional content from the wiki. You also need to tweak DOSBox a bit.
  13. Finished Arena. Now on to Battlespire if I can get it to run. Otherwise, Daggerfall.
  14. That's the point. It's not about recreating the book experience, they'd just make use of the setting to make an open-world game, like Cyanide is now using the setting to make a strategy game. There has been a FPS made in the Wheel of Time setting, and action games set in Middle-Earth. Not to mention there's tons of adventure games using sci-fi/fantasy settings from books, e.g. Discworld, Shannara, Companions of Xanth, Death Gate, etc. It's not like it hasn't been done before.
  15. Ulysses is such a bore.
  16. In before mandatory Uranus joke.
  17. I hope they make Daedric weapons and armour rare again.
  18. How can Jensen use Typhoon without ruining his clothes?
  19. Crafting in BG2 was a pain due to having to deal with that annoying **** Cespenar each time.
  20. Ex-Twitcher 2 producer Tomasz Gop working on RPG with Deck 13 set for release in 2013 Hopefully, it will be Venetica 2.
  21. Strange, Ultima IV, Ultima VII: Black Gate, Ultima VII: Serpent Isle and Ultima VIII are all (still) abandonware, but Ultima V and VI aren't.
  22. I'm playing TES I: Arena which I last played about 15 years ago. It's an amazingly fun dungeon crawler, and interestingly it uses an experience based system and has a level cap of 20. Not to mention like in D&D there are weapon and armour limits for the various classes, e.g. a mage cannot wear any armour at all and only use daggers and staves. This is a stark contrast with the retarted learn-by-doing system introduced in Daggerfall, which essentially made your character invincible after 6 levels (if you knew what you were doing). I really am wondering who in Bethesda came up with the learn-by-doing system... I'm thinking it was Todd Howard, considering he came in to work on Daggerfall.
