What are you playing now?
I just find it a bit sad, that I am kind of "working" towards specific skill values in the game for specific scenes. That means, I am managing the way I spend my skill points in a way that I get the best outcome in a specific sitation of the game, always. Especially in the beginning it is very clear: Goodsprings gets my lockpick and repair points, Primm gets more repair points (ED-E), speech on the way to the Mojave Outpost and then Nipton, for Novac, I put lots of points in science for the Repconn questline and when I move on to Camp Forlorn Hope, I put all my points to get the doctor skill to ~45 or 50. Helios One is repair / science again, etc. So I am not really creating my character based on how I want to play him, I am creating my character based on the quests I have to face. After Boulder City I become much less strict in it, because then I continue with whatever my current mood is up for. I don't know if it's the way the game is buildup that makes me "play" it like this, or if it's just the big amount of skillpoints and that I know I am able to max out at least two weapon skills at later point anyway, so I see no reason to spend any skill points certain skills in the beginning of the game.

Yea, but I found it faster to repair him via skill than searching for the parts. Especially because the needed parts had been adjusted with one of the patches, so it wasn't as easy anymore. And as I have repair very high all the time anyway (want to get jurry rigging perk as fast as possible), it's no big deal for me. Heh, in fact, speech, repair, science and lockpick are my priority skills, always. The weapon skills are what I touch at a later point in the game, because even with a low combat skill you aren't that weak and I just hate it not to be able to open a lock or hack a terminal or win in dialogue.

With one of the new traits from one of the DLCs I had been able to get +5 skill points to every skill for -10% less xp. Due to the +5 bonus of this trait and some other crap, I was able to get repair to 55 very fast. Then using a repair mag and you'll get ED-E when you enter Primm the very first time in the beginning of the game. :> Boone is the next possible candidate on the list then, pretty fast to get as well if you are in Novac. I've always got a hard time with chosing my companions. I mean, I can rule out at least Lily (just too unsympathic), Raul (wasn't as cool as I've expected), Veronica (not a fan of melee-companions) and Rex (I like ED-E more), but the rest isn't so easy. Especially because with every companion, except Cass, it is useful to get them as early as possible, due to their dialogue and terrain triggers for their personal quests... Oh well, I started a new game today, by the way. Got to level 13 already and just visited the Crimson Caravan. As soon as I hit the 15, I will have a go at Honest Hearts again.

That's really interesting. Especially the wall of text about Ulysses. I had a similar feeling about it, but not as clear as this.

/Edit: Btw. I wish the riot armor would have been without a duster or with a very short duster / making it a jacket. Now it feels very strange to me, because apparently the NCR made up that design, but now some anti-riot boss dudes (from before the war?) had the same setup too. I know, I know, it's pretty abstract in the game, but it still feels meh to me. The bigger armor stuff on the new armor is nice and all, it's just the duster that isn't doing it for me. Besides, who will wear a duster in a job as riot control anyway... seems to be heavily impractical.

Once again, I've updated my no-dialog-tags mod. It's up to version 1.5 now, with a few fixes for the main game file and additionally the new file for DLC#4, Lonesome Road. Didn't had to check many NPCs this time around, so it was created pretty fast. :>

I find it strange that always when I like a DLC, reviews are somewhat trashing it to some extend.

Heh, nice. Anyway, finished it too now. I'll guess it's the FNV DLC I like the most now, simply because of it's atmosphere and all. The enviroment is pretty cool looking, Ulysses is cool, I am fine with the new armors and weapons and all. Needed ~3 to 4 hours, so it's the shortest of all four DLCs, most likely due to it's linearity and because there are no fluff-quests. Still it's worth the 10 euro, especially if one has bought the other DLCs as well. I am soooo happy that there is no The Road reference in LR. Got worried when the news about "the Dad" and "the Kid" came up, but even if this is a reference to The Road, it's very, very, very subtle and most people probably would never notice it. At least there are no such NPCs in the gameworld or a quest related to it, etc.

I am level 41 and I've died a few times and had to reload a few more times. Especially deathclaws are very dangerous now-- they kill me with one hit. Also that new tunnel critter stuff is very dangerous for me, even in smaller groups.

From cinematic kind of view... best FNV DLC so far, imo. The landscape looks nice and the generic effects are better than I've expected. A few new armors and weapons with ammo types, etc. Enemies are pretty tough, imo. But it's very linear. Okay, not a big surprise if the DLC title already hints towards "road." As far as I can see, there are no real side quests. You are moving from one area to the next, to the next, etc. and explore the surrounding while this. After every step you have finished, there is a short break where you talk with your companion npc. It is also very much a shooter-DLC, more than in the other DLCs. At least it feels like that. Lots of explosions and stuff to kill with explosions and explosions in the sky, etc. I am approx halfway through it, I'll guess. Will continue tomorrow and then probably finish it. Have to say, if I'll ignore the non-existing quests and stuff in LR, it is probably my most liked FNV DLC already. /Edit: Ah yes. LR also doesn't start with a intro slideshow. Due to this, it feels very connected to the Mojave area. You go to the car barricades in the main game, and start the DLC right behind them (switching to the DLC territory). This way, it really feels like you are walking the road to your target and don't get teleported first, to start your roaming after, etc. This fits.

You can play them all in whatever way you want to. They are all independent from each other.

The funny things thread part 3
They probably made their own mc mod for this. Looks pretty cool.

Just finished the Space Marines game. It was an ok-ish game. Good for a while, but if you play it for too long, it makes ye dumb. People said it's too short, but in fact, I wouldn't want it to be any longer. It's just not varied enough for more hours.

Deus Ex 3
Bleh. While I can understand the move, I still wish it would be hooked into the main games flow.

Heh, I once tried to get negative karma in Fallout 3, so I can get Jericho as companion. It just didn't worked. Always when I've gained some negative karma, I got a shizzleload of positive karma again for killing random Raiders. In the end, the only more or less fast way to gain negative karma - as far as I could see - was to bomb Megaton... and then Jericho was dead too, of course.

Interview with Chris Avellone
I am really wondering why he got an unique face, though. At least I can find out in like 3 days.

I really hope that this is possible. I want to bomb away the shizzle.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
Character inspired by John Woo films is poster child of all action heroes. Also Max killing small army worth of enemies in previous 2 games should make it bit easier to accept. Rockstar + RAGE + Euphoria + Max Payne should be fun. Well, but he acts different in the trailer. It feels to me as if he changed from "fast, jump around the corner and kill dudes!" to "IN YOUR FACE I KEEL YOU WITH JUMPING OVER ALL STUFF, PUMPING SHOTGUNS!" The only thing that reminds me of Max Payne in the video is the music from the second game, with which they probably try to sell it to the fans. :> Not that I really care, though. Will probably not play it anyway, as I am not really interested.

I never saw Max as an action hero so much as he shown in that trailer. Dunno. Don't really like what I saw so far.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Keep in mind, that the Oblivion pr screenshots had been pimped up. Also the LOD in the distance is very ugly, wonder if that will be the case in Skyrim as well. So.. until I don't see Skyrim in motion on my own, I am not believing anything.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Is it just me or is the camera in third person view still 100% strictly fixed behind your character? I always hated it that the camera view wasn't panning a bit when looking left or right. It just doesn't feel "free" to me, but stiff and ugly... and they are doing this since Morrowind.

Playing some Space Marines in the moment. A fun game, but I can understand if people find the combat a bit tiresome after some time.
