New Vegas lacks the core gameplay of the series ~as per the Bethesda leash they were on while making it. New Vegas is a superb FO3 spinoff; and built on FO3 ~because (I expect) it had to be, to get approval. NV was a wonderful ½ step back towards Fallout 2, but it was still FO3 under the hood.

I think that WL2 is the best [ersatz] Fallout game since Fallout 2, and that they know it; and planned it that way. (But it isn't one, not really.) No future Fallout title would need (or likely use) a 2D engine. It would be 3D; (3D doesn't mean first person for those that assume it does). All of the graphical issues that Fallout had would be forgotten with the use of a 3D engine. Personally, I think that a Fallout title done using Obsidian's Pillars of Eternity framework could really shine. ___ I thought (and still think) of Fallout Tactics' Turn based combat as the best combat the IP has to offer ~so far. (Though I might have thought differently had Zenimax acquired 'Super Hot', and based the combat mechanics of FO4 on it.)

I wish someone would do that [again] for Fallout.

I'm not sure that I know that that is. (For those that don't know, what does 'overwatch' technically mean?)

I've seen bad reviews of the combat (with users suggesting they study J/A, X-Com, and Fallout)... Is there any merit to these? (The game looks interesting)

But there should be. -

Once the transfer became final, and Interplay could not sell Fallout, the Fallout games disappeared from the open catalog. Existing owners kept them in their accounts, but no new purchases were possible. *They've done this with other titles as well. XIII is gone ~unless you had it in your account. GoG was really awesome too, they made the Fallout games free for a time.

This is a great game, but ....
Gizmo replied to Otis0310's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Myth had a 3D landscape (that was put to good use), but the character graphics were all 2D sprites. Pillars is kind of the exact opposite; where the character graphics are 3D and the landscape is a 2D plane; though with some 3D effects on (and in front of) it. -
So that was terrible...

So long as they get their parting shot from the fighter ~for disengaging, I don't see what the problem is. -
You know... Each of those Gold Box games originally sold for about $50. That means that even Hillsfar cost quite a bit more than Skyrim did when it released.

This ending? I was wondering the same thing; and trying to post it on the GoG forums.

For myself... I've got all the maps burned into the brain; even stuff that wasn't in the clue book. *It'd be nice if this sparked a wave of popular retro-clones... Give some competition to Jeff Vogel for once.

Fan-$#^%-tastic news! (Though... I already have all of them in that kit on CD.) I wonder.... The original release accidentally (I assume) included the C source code for the Tigre engine, used to make Blood & Magic. (But that was in the Blood & Magic demo folder on the disc... That won't be among the games.)

NON-Obsidian South Park RPG Sequel Announced!
Gizmo replied to Infinitron's topic in Computer and Console
Whenever I mention this of any developers; [usually Obsidian though], people are incredulous of that, and it seems absurd to them. I've never understood why something so obvious is deemed so unlikely, by so many... aside from the fact that they are usually trying to discredit an argument by flinging contrary developer statements at it. -
Most likely uses a different database.

If anyone has a Stalker serial number from their CD version, GoG will accept that as proof of purchase, and add Stalker to their account. (This is honored for a very limited selection of other games as well.) https://www.gog.com/reclaim

Do you say that just for the hell of it, or do you truthfully not see the point? Your quotes are malformed, so one can't tell if that's said towards someone else... If it's said to me, I'm not sure why; but I am sure that it's meant to whomever ~as an insult, and accusation.

The purpose now is wholly to support the company early. This only makes sense for an 'indie' developer that you trust. *There is also the limited collectors editions though, and those do sell out.

Odd chance... This is both related to heaven & hell, and indicative of all that's wrong with FO3 & FO4 and Bethesda games in general... and it's from the 1950's. http://www.hulu.com/watch/440861 Or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBlMl-JAFXw

I'm not amazed that it's so many... just disappointed that it is. *It shows one that Bethesda truly knows their audience. When you want James Burke from them, you get Stern and Mandel.
