If my word isn't good enough for you, what can I say. Doubt away. And it's 6 games since I mixed Lords of the Fallen with Bound by Flame. Oh dear, two of that still makes 33%. But I'm not planning on buying anything, I said those two games have a chance. Them selling is no concern of mine. I vote plenty with my wallet, but me not buying **** games doesn't make better and more varied ones appear.

This is all the industry is capable of anymore (this game, Witcher 3, DA:I, Two Worlds developers pirate game, Spider's new game, Risen 3, and likely plenty more that I haven't even heard of -- all carved basically from the same wood). How profoundly boring. This is Spiders' new game. Hah. This only goes to prove my point, I mixed it with Lords of the Fallen.... Nah. Risen 3 and Witcher 3 have a chance (depending on several things), but the rest... nope.

Drop your heretic thoughts on CRPGs and RPG systems here
Undecaf replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Computer and Console
I'm having more fun with the gameplay of Wasteland than I ever did with Fallout 3 or New Vegas (though still less so than back in early 90's). I'd guess that could be considered somewhat heretical by todays standards. -
I'm going to be watching out for this one. I've been waiting for Lemmings to arrive in GoG for quite a while and this looks sufficiently similiar.

Forced sympathy is the worst kind of sympathy because it's implanted rather than acquired. I'm kind of shocked you'd support such artificial and medieval methods.

That explains a lot, actually.

Yes it is. Very far; and gladly so. I'm not particularly keen on AAA titles anyway; they always seem too scattered around with their focus. Of course, though, that comes with it's own set of hopes and expectations -- DS3, for eg., was a mid budget game (yes?), but I wouldn't consider it a home run from any angle. Anyways, we'll see where this train goes eventually; it's not in the sunniest of places right now and there's no predicting if it will stop next, but... eventually.

Not asking for miracles; just hoping for something decent. I know how the market is (or seems to be for the most part -- Ubisoft did publish MMX). I'm not arguing. I've no desire to change your mind about anything, just trying get my point of view through whether or not you agree with it.

Meaning more so than before. KOTORII has/had half the game missing, NWN2 OC was a bad/mediocre game in general, Alpha Protocol was a complete mess from a gaming and development standpoint with one really big saving grace. DSIII was a solid, good fun game (Sawyer agrees). F:NV was great and South Park is well liked and a big success. Nope, unless we are counting expansion packs. As games they are a lot more solid. They're just not D&D, Star Wars D&D or Fallout (well except Fallout ) and their attached benefits (also in the gameplay department) Which is certainly a thing to be disappointed about, but saying the games themselves are worse is a bit tinted. I'm talking about what games they've made and are making, and how they could be identified; not so much about their problems at making those games. DS3, South Park, AW, Russian MMO... Compare that to Kotor and NWN, and even New Vegas as what kind of games they were. Certainly you see where this is going. There's a clear path in how this has been evolving. Anyway, like I said, it's not the end of the world, just a bit disappointing to see.

Of course they will. What can be expected from now on is a bit more complicated question, though. Good, detailed Games made with effort. That, if not completly rpg's still feature some interesting systems. Have no idea how AW will fare in that regard, but that is what I'm expecting from Obsidian since becoming a fan. Sure. However, the road has been a bit uneven recently to say the least and to trust a company logo on the box to deliver, is all. Unfortunate events, bad luck and everything, but nonetheless - it's a bit disheartening to look at where they are and know what they're capable of. I'm not overly worried about this, though, projects come and go, just saying what things look like currently.

You take the role of a lone M1A1 Abrams with a world in turmoil and learn that you're destined to make a difference; along the way you meet interesting characters like T-72 and Leopard 2 (old models - low level) who will provide you with deep philosophy in armored warfare and have ambiguous agendas in the grand plotline about finding your place in the stage of global war. What can change the nature of a tank?

Can't say I ain't a bit disappointed. I was hoping the announcement to be at least something to speculate and have an eye out for. Oh well...
-
Well this certainly wasn't an exciting bit of news... **** happens, I guess.

What's in the pic? Can't seem to be able to view it with a phone?
-
Have you started harrassing him about when the announcement might happen via twatter and other dedicated socialist media yet?

Same here (for a similiar amount of time). Today few hours ago it worked seemingly fine (other than telling me my HD is busy and halting a patch dl for a moment), now it tells me my connections are down. edit - ehm, it seems I can't even connect to their website...

You'd be surprised how seemingly small things can be actually quite large. I've not played a Bioware game since ME and DA:O in which this romance thing was already pretty damn jarring and awkward; a glued over teenage sex fantasy. And things only got worse after that (as I learned lurking in BSN back then; and seeing some in game videos later on that seriously left me slackjawed at what I had just witnessed). Lost all interest, and never regained it - not only because of the blatant fanservice coupling, but it being one of the reasons. In general, romance is such a large element to actually be done right in an interactive medium like cRPG's, that when ever I see such being asked for and/or specifically advertised as a feature, I always find myself hoping it's a joke (like the shotgun wedding in Fallout 2, or an actual joke "haha, had ya there didn't I"). Now, I don't know why I even contributed in this thread as I've no interest in DA:I (it just doesn't look or sound very appealing overall). But I blame boredom and caffeine withdrawals.

what is your worst rpg game ever played?
Undecaf replied to darthdraken's topic in Computer and Console
Well, yeah that's about it, what Humanoid said. I guess one of the big reasons it feels so utterly bad is because it actually starts out fairly interesting (and for me, one mark of potential - back in the day it was new - was that it didn't use D&D rules which I've never been a fan of); then, after the entrée, it proceeds to offer a full plate of tedium spiced with boredom and decorated with leaves of futility and no drinks to flush it all down. -

Fallout 3, Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader and Oblivion are the only ones that come to mind right now as serious contenders. I usually try not to memorize ****; I'll remember them when I see them again and that should be enough. -
This is definitely not the game Obsidian is announcing, but I wonder if they are in good terms with Ubisoft now, after South Park, that they could probably consider a mid budget sequel to the B.A.T. series (Ubi published the first 2 games in '90 and '92, so they may own the lisence). Seeing that MMX did at least moderately well, another old school revival could be an interesting prospect (and not least because the concept of the B.A.T. games was ripe with potential for interesting gameplay interactivity, reactivity and storytelling possibilities - while still remaining faithful to the original gameplay and design, of course).

Betting my money on they will still release Enhanced Edtion patch later after the release Maybe they realised they have bitten over a mouthful (judging from their pompous statements) and need now backtrack a bit to fix and adjust the game so that it works while they finish up the EE patch for post February release. Wouldn't surprise me should that be the case; but nonetheless, it's good that they take their time.

The Case for Romance II
Undecaf replied to Gfted1's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Nah, I don't think it's worth my time starting one. People realised that no such thing as TB would happen with this game (and when I asked Sawyer about a late inclusion with the expansion pack; it was a close to zero chance), so the discussion drowned. Just saying it would be more interesting.
