Plenty listen to them, which is the sad and funny thing. People don't need them, can't really think of anything they've uniquely provided other than social justice outrage (woo RPS) or just funny drama.

Game devs starting to call out some of the *crazy* vitriol
Malcador replied to alanschu's topic in Computer and Console
Well, seems he's not above being snarky and trollish to people so him whining about this is pretty rich. Top it off telling the guy that called you an **** to 'compare your life to mine and then kill yourself' is even a better lead to crying. Hah, figures he's a Quebecer too. -

More Mount and Blade, think I signed up with the wrong kingdom the Vaegyir are getting stomped after taking on pretty much everyone. The ersatz Mongols in the game are beyond annoying to fight.

WoW's declining steadily, not entirely a surprise after all these years. http://www.statista.com/statistics/208146/number-of-subscribers-of-world-of-warcraft/ I guess Cataclysm was the start where things started going down ? (Q4 2010)

Well, entertainment is a waste of time if you're talking about constructive activity, maybe. But a good guess on your part. It does depends what that junk is though - can be abusive posts, off topic talk, bantering rather than any post on "Patch 2.3 introduced these bad things...", etc. I guess this is looking for feedback in an official sense, which I'd imagine one wouldn't quit from and just slog onward, rather than quit if you're just looking at it on your own time - in that case leaving threads like that stuff in the PE forum is perfectly fine. But then again, I suppose this is a waste of time -

It's entertaining for me, I don't really see a forum as much more than that. Fair enough for feedback, but how long do they have to spend looking at 'filth' to determine that it's not necessary and move on to the next comment. Becomes even easier if you have volunteer moderators to handle that stuff and remove it. Of course they still get useless feedback that isn't abusive, but can't hope for none of that. Moderation is what achieves something, as it's an action. Jawing about it is just useless. -

I disagree. Objectifying those with whom we disagree--and subsequently feeling entitled to mistreat them--are human, not first world, issues. Even when it's just words, "grow a thicker skin" translates into a community where we're putting energy into deflecting ugliness that could be put to more constructive purposes--like QA or better gun balance. As for threats of real world violence, obvious jokes aside, there need to be consequences, because if there aren't folks think they're OK. You know, because it's the Internet. Trolling is a human rights issue, that's pretty funny. As for constructive purposes, meh, a bunch of people armchair developing on a forum is a waste of time regardless so that's not a problem. Would hope developers don't actually lose work time due to some random person posting stuff on a forum. -
Have to remember to keep faking urgency when problems arise at work. General level of apathy is rising steadily It is funny though when the client doesn't care all that much about their problem, so if they don't care, I don't care as, well, they leave me alone.

And maintenance programmers won't want your head on a stake if you keep it simple, as well. And hey, he could have started out with Turing like me -

Can't see a situation when you'd need to leave to silence a person, most things have ignore support and there's always the will to just ignore chat. -

Trenches stories are somewhat amusing, of late a lot seem to be "LOL my job in QA sucks!". http://trenchescomic.com/tales/post/one-of-those-people this one is funny, probably because I doubt it actually happened.
