  1. Don't. Really, don't.
  2. Are we sure that is absolutely true, that " any major gaming news site either tried to ignore or actively silence this case" ? Well Reddit had one where threads on it were purged (rumours a Reddit admin was in with Quinn as well). NeoGAF also shut stuff down there, but I've not much detail on it. Were some others as well, generally was a no-no on some sites like RPS where you'd get banned for mentioning it once SJWalker determined it was about Quinn's private life and nothing else. Well people cared about those as well, the Streisand effect at work here is why this is what it is now
  3. Who else will provide proper boob physics ? (that was a joke)
  4. A whole sentence, woo. Does at least point out that women will bring in more women, which is needed apparently, looking at Sierra.
  5. Hm, the people making the "gender equality movement" look bad in this are the ones that usually vocally support it it seems at least on Twitter. Not seeing a lot of stuff bashing feminist ideology versus ones bashing Kotaku, Grayson, Quinn, if it is the former I'm not really buying it and it is a decent mask that serves Quinn.
  6. When the byline mentioned pioneers I was expecting something about the old Sierra crew or Romero. Also....why must video games be accepted as art ?
  7. Well, you aim for a mix - I think there was a post by an ex WoW dev about this - of making things fun and not frustrating for casual players but making things deep and meaty for the hardcore ones to get tangled in. Focus either way and you'll end up in failure. Just my interpretation of his point, anyway.
  8. It is ? Thought it was just a campaign against one woman.
  9. If you mean act like a 8 year old, sure. Also, what's wrong with the Codex ? Well, not that I'd expect the likes of TrueNeutral to like it, but I doubt the site's organized so much as to have stratagems Hilarious amount of e-stalking now as people are cross referencing people's twitters and FB pages.
  10. http://m.pcgamer.com/au/2014/08/26/diablo-3-reaper-of-souls-patch-2-1-releases-tomorrow/ Patch tomorrow
  11. Hm, interesting approach - to just accept it like it is and shrug when it is pointed out. Does that apply to the abusive Internet ? The suppression of it just makes this keep on going, and it is rather amusing in of itself. So far Fish's life has been ruined, or so he claims (that hack may have been a fake), so that's one good thing.
  12. Hooray for you, then. One would need to define what is a significant amount and what one would consider a non-casual gamer, before you considering if it is ridiculous to think other than you do.
  13. Never said it made much sense, it fits though. As for the companies, well there's more money in the casual ones and they are less insane than hardcore ones.
  14. It's not a distinction between a sports fan and a gamer. In football, for example, there are fans that get into the team - know the songs, the players, history and they always sneer at fans that don't or that casually watch (prawn sandwich brigade is a common moniker for these people). So it's a similar deal.
  15. Huh ? Thought the freakout by the SJW gaming folk like Walker, Kuchera and Sessler happened after the leak by her ex and the storm created by the guy faking Jesse Ventura's voice, not the other way around. Hard to say what you could call a SJW other than that, who are fedoras ?
  16. That is true, he may have been a bit of an asshat but at least he was a hardcore coder from the start.
  17. Expected as much. But seems some people think it's an issue - else sites wouldn't be all up in arms over people discussing it. And I assume Kotaku and RPS and whoeever might think it's an issue if people think their staff are actual whores. Sadly the "poor woman oppressed by Internet" is the takeaway.
  18. Figure of speech, I assume. Though Fish lost vital details in a "hack" like his SIN, financial details - so that might be it. It's a rather entertaining flame war basically, produces some funny gems.
  19. What's hard to understand that people here might do differently to you and not rack up a lot of gamer female acquaintances ? It is rather unremarkable though, as the quote indicated, to meet people in an environment where you'd expect them to show as opposed to surveying a subway car.
  20. Well, it's like being a sports fan that watches a match occasionally or one that knows every player in the squad and watches every match. Rather meaningless distinction, for sure, but it is what it is - a level of involvement.
  21. Well, from some things I read about id Romero was a bit of a drama queen. Fittingly one could compare Quinn and what she's alleged to have done with Case and what people say about her. Should look up and see what Smart is up to, these days.
  22. I'm just curious. Where on earth did TrueNeutral say any of that? Is that some Anti-SJW knee-jerk reaction you just added to vent? Or did I miss a really interesting discussion by not reading this entire thread? I never wrote he said that, though, hope that satisfies your 'curiosity'. Plenty of places I've read commenting on this article have been pretty deluded enough to assume what I wrote above though, strange people these days. But was just a general sense of everyone else shrugging at this. Not seeing why he would be 'concerned' about something as trivial as women playing games, though. Game market is way larger than when I was younger and more accessible, heh, so follows there'll be a lot of women playing these days than before, at least in PC anyway - I imagine were more console ones back then and now.
  23. Waiting for the Glorious 2.1 patch before I return to (read:play for a bit then get bored again) D3. Crusader is pretty fun, feels quite tanky to play.
  24. So your anecdotal evidence trumps theirs ? Most are just not seeing this is heralding a new age of social justice aware games with female protagonists that check all the boxes to not be sexist, etc. I suppose if the majority of developers were women this might be a consideration, but consumers, eh..
