  1. Well, I don't think many will take them seriously. Betas are supposed to be a little bit buggy. Tried playing it last night and it locked up and then crashed once so, that meets that
  2. It is their job, why is it bull to point that out ? Good for them doing what they're trained up and kitted out for. Good for you that you really like police and probably are of the line that they are heroes for putting on the badge each morning. I do suppose they warrant respect the same way you view the employee at the DMV, both are public servants (don't tell the police that though) and do their job. Just the article having an ex-cop with a one sided lecture with lip service to points on his own side was rather amusing. I'd say cop salaries, at least here locally, are pretty good - 100K+ with benefits and they tend to die infrequently (last one died as the hero forgot to buckle his seatbelt and was speeding..) and show up with overwhelming force (e.g. 8 cops for a drunk, 4 cops for an old lady shouting in her home). I think in the US last year 50 cops or so were killed in duty, from a search, rather than a car accident or a heart attack. Still, you'd think the police organizations near uniform mafia like behaviour or disdain for civilians (someone hasn't told them they are that) or militarization would be enough to cause a loss of respect for them.
  3. Hm, had forgotten about Wasteland 2. Was a bit surprised a scene group would care, but then again, gotta crack them all, etc.
  4. Someone brought up Eastern Europe as a bastion of good policing ? This is also in line http://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2014/08/19/im-a-cop-if-you-dont-want-to-get-hurt-dont-challenge-me/ Even if the tone seems to be more on lecturing the public to give respect rather than indicating the police have to earn it or actually serve the public.
  5. Amazing, the Pillars of Eternity beta was pirated.
  6. How does it worsen the situation to have communities that automatically assume the worst about law enforcement? Heh. Well it is a fair question. In terms of public relations I doubt cops care much about what little people think of them. And the public will defer to cops out of fear rather than anything else but will defer. So not making much worse
  7. Yeah, there'll be more hand wringing SJW clickbait blogs and scolding articles. Other than that, things will change independently of this.
  8. Not relevant when you're looking at abuses of police and in this situation. I don't think the video was really meant as a slant at all police, in the first place, rather than the soldier-cop they should send to a warzone to see how he'd cut it. Even if you do the worst as a citizen and see the cops as Blue Mafia so ditch the 10% and the 90%, what do you lose ? You'll treat them the same way, just out of fear of them racking you up for some reason rather than, heh, respecting them for their noble work.
  9. Dealing with a client that is sending me screencaptures of emails rather than just forwarding me them. Strange people, we deal with. Planning to skip off work early to get started on my cleaning.
  10. Hm...no, I don't see why we should. Who cares if they deal with harsh crap that they sign up for ? If they can't hack it without becoming power tripping bullies, then they should find another line of work. Or perhaps look into joining up with OC groups. If they do good things, well again, that's their job, but not really relevant when talking about their abuses of authority or lusting for escalation. And how does that relate to this particular idiot showing brilliant control by aiming a rifle at someone to the point another officer had to be the adult and lead him away ?
  11. Managing director at Ubisoft Toronto, so is doing pretty well for herself.
  12. Actually, I had thought he meant the players would have real feelings about that, seems that he meant it was realistic. Then again, the former might hold.
  13. So Geralt just needs to be better looking then ? In the games he seems to be a lot more jaded than he is in the books that I've read. It would be nice to modify his personality a bit more.
  14. So, more party member reactions to things, well, nice to have more detail like that. "A real thing". Strange.
  15. That actually would be a rather neat way of crowd control, not aggressive and not -too- harmful.
  16. "Die but make it happen", good saying - ah, heard it before in "Dance with Death", I think. Also, what a bizarre question to ask, about Lenin and Stalin.
  17. Telling them to not permanently impede people is a lot different from strike breaking, though. Most picket lines hold you up for a while, at least in my experience.
  18. Nope. Rights of the workers to associate and strike, the state shouldn't interfere. Government interference will almost always come on one side, which isn't really good in the end. Look at Air Canada.
  19. Yep, the revamp of old world content made the questing a lot more straighforward. Vanilla had a problem there, early on it was easy, say for humans you went Elwynn-Westfall-Redrige-Duskwood-STV, but around 30ish up until 50ish it's fairly all over the place. Which is kind of nice as you travel, but you'd occasionally find yourself too high for most zones and locked out quests in others, which was awful.
  20. Got into the Warlords of Draenor beta, so am tooling around with that for a bit.
  21. Answer to the question is to not be harassed by police or have the cops act like the "hate the pinko press" stereotype. Also, 'free fire zone' ? How bad exactly is it in Ferguson ?
  22. Hm, perhaps, if it were a joke I'd expect it to be more verbose and with flowery SJ language. Or have a reference to Zionist Cabals.
  23. Come on the post at the Codex is a joke
