  1. Agreed, nothing lasts forever. Fortunately Im not worried about forever. Im worried about the here and now that I live in and currently theres nobody that can take the US down. If we wait long enough, approximately 7.6 billion years, the sun will become a red giant and engulf the Earth. Hahahaha, suck it China. Think it's 4 or 5. Saw a show once detailing what might happen, was rather neat when it got to the planetary firestorm that results from a resurgence of oxygen into the atmosphere.
  2. Snow all over the place here, so as a result the city has stopped working. Pretty lousy day today, have to go the office Christmas dinner tonight, free food is the only good point. Tomorrow off work though, huzzah!
  3. So what do you expect then, as you apparently have the read of this ? Ah, never mind, late refresh. Am not too sure that the US doing shady stuff as every nation has done is a damning indictment of the high level government ideology it follows, though.
  4. US played a different role before it as well. But if you do, then you'll have multiple agencies (even more than now, currently), which is inefficient.
  5. Well his point was basically that nothing lasts forever, so he's right. But even so, the US has done a good job of playing the game post WW2. Testament to power in that the reaction to this will be mainly words from other nations.
  6. Funnily the scuttlebutt is that this is nothing like actual gameplay. Terrible music too.
  7. Well, with Cheney's comments, I suppose it's just moronic management. As for the uses of the prisoners, well I don't imagine they really have much use after everything
  8. The intelligence agency that takes its place would be just as bad - well, unless you think a power like the US has no need of a foreign-targeted intelligence agency
  9. Damn CCP making me resub for a while
  10. Jews, Muslims and Athiests have Good Friday off here as well.
  11. Malc don't you think they should make it mandatory for everyone who doesn't drink that they have to work on the 1st after NY because you guys wouldn't be nursing a hangover ? New Year's Day is a day off here, I assume for that reason.
  12. Sleep and play games, am off from 29-31 and have 25 & 26 off too. Never did get the appeal of NYE, I guess people will take any excuse to party and booze it up.
  13. Game delayed to May 2015 http://thewitcher.com/news/view/906
  14. Got a chuckle out of this old advert
  15. Going with non-smokers is probably more economical in a long term view - cigarettes are expensive and if the relationship progresses to a stage where mutual maintenance is required that can add up.
  16. Sounds like your students are too stupid to pick it up.
  17. Work email archiving is becoming an epic task, with my craptastic PC here. Rather boggling how large my .pst files are, the smallest is 4 gigs. 95% of it is irrelevant too.

  19. Human beings are indeed disgusting things
  20. They aren't running around harassing, assaulting, or killing people and getting away with it on a daily basis.... It's hard to have a reasonable conversation when you throw out hyperbole like this. I support law enforcement reform, I want to see way more accountability, I want a dramatic shift in the way police interact with their communities. Do you support these things? How do you expect to achieve any of them if you treat every police officer as some thug who goes around harassing, assaulting, and killing people on a daily basis? Do you recognize how hostile (and frankly unrealistic) that sounds? It's weird to me that the same people that want to yell at the police for not respecting the ideals of innocent until proven guilty are so fast to condemn an entire police force without evidence. Hurlshot is 100 % correct, you guys are generalizing and making sweeping and unproven statements and making them sound like "facts " Its very hypocritical and sounds silly Is it ? If the cops need to reform their ways or be nicer with the community then...a lot of them would have to be a bad sort, else why need reform? I find the police whining about being demonized rather amusing in all this.
  21. Considering these are the types of crowds gathering: 200+ sounds like your standard round up. Only 5 of those are actually being charged with anything of substance. Overall it seems like this is going exactly the way it should, for both the protesters and the police. The message is clearly getting across and isn't being sullied by outbreaks of violence. Surprised there hasn't been any, would have thought some people would cook off or cop agents would get to work. Wonder what they are being charged with in instances like this.
  22. Hopefully they explain that
  23. I hate Christmas shopping, wish the family would just tell me what they want so I can get this over with, myself. But nope, always doing the "oh nothing" routine. Fah.
  24. Skeptical of any reform forced on the cops will be very successful, if anyone finds enough guts to do it, but a nice dream. Cops don't really have any respect or fondness for 'civilians' anyway, regardless if they are being hostile, so not sure why you want people to not see them as thugs or what have you. Assuming the police are bad based on the ever present "bad apples" does lead to the entire force being seen as bad once they cover for each other and so on - those that cling together, swing together, and all.
  25. Sleeping at my desk at work, will try to avoid snoring
