  1. CiV never gripped me the way CIV did. I should replay that, have fun making my fake history for my games as insane as that makes me sound. Forgot about D3, that ate up a lot of my time.
  2. DXHR's ending was compensated for the good laugh I got out of the elevator ride down, was a nice fake out
  3. Don't drink. I guess I will remember it for being the state with the horses. Or is that Wyoming.
  4. Very obscure reference there Mal It is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Montana.
  5. Not ending anonymity, just ending anonymity for people who don't want to use Tor or something. I am hard pressed to think why his opinion is of any weight. But overall the "be nice!" message isn't all that bad, though online gaming being filled with raging **** is part of its charm. Good plug for his show, I guess.
  6. And ex-Soviet submariners raising rabbits.
  7. It's not really that big a deal if you forget it. With the "terror" attacks recently, this Remembrance day is getting a bit out of proportion, but oh well, is a political thing.
  8. Things change and movements move, not much of an issue. Though what it became is rather interesting to think of, as there's many people willing to tell you that bit of info
  9. Yes, for shame, you didn't go out and pay lip service to veterans.
  10. Well, it's not that they don't matter, but you shouldn't be hurt by it. Additionally, it doesn't really say you should not strike back, either. But as you believe they do matter, aren't these GG people you're referring to correct in your view ?
  11. I suppose it does invalidate their emotion in that they shouldn't feel upset, but it does get the point across that they shouldn't. Best life skill to have is to not let others upset you, after all. Any way to build up fortitude is going to be about the same, but I guess it'll be in a more round about way ?
  12. Remembrance Day so it is a quiet day as our clients have the day off, lucky bastards. I believe it may be a holiday next year for us, but some oppose it as kids need to be in school in order to be forced to attend ceremonies (not sure why the rest of us don't get the day off because of that )
  13. So learning to laugh off insults is a sign of sociopathy ? Aim of that statement is to encourage one to not crumple like paper because some guy called you an **** or something. Or to advise you to perhaps break his bones in response, depending on how one looks at it (while effective, it's too much trouble in the end).
  14. Somewhat related to the topic, but another sign that the average football fan is garbage - http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/row-zed/lukas-podolski-comments-huge-historical-4602510
  15. The Internet is not a workplace though, it's like being on the street - someone can call you an **** there and they are free to and you need to deal with it. Sites already moderate themselves and that is fine, external moderation is just going down a bad road.
  16. So not many names then, I am surprised. As for GG, I am not seeing how it ties in well with this, but can see why you'd want it to, heh. For the most part I've not really seen it carrying on as a White Power movement. Although I suppose there are some Nazis involved, thinking through all the flames I've read over.
  17. There was a reason I put that in quotes. But, several websites do like attracting people that are harsher than most or people that don't mind bad things being said, I guess 4chan is a decent example. But are you ok with 4chan ? You don't have a freedom from abuse or vitriol from speaking in the real world, either, so why have one online ?
  18. Hm, and of course these sites should only be allowed to attract like minded people if they are of the "Right Kind" of mind, naturally. People worry about hurting others' feelings too much online (given how those are made of tissue sometimes)
  19. Need more RAM to enjoy Planetside 2. They should never allow skins, trying to tell NC from Vanu in a night fight is ridiculous. I did rather enjoy my squad storming a building with grenades and dynamic entry only to find we wasted a friendly squad. Whoops.
  20. I'm going to need evidence for either of those claims. I came to a very sad realization today. In the distant annuls of a few months ago, something truly despicable happened. And I hope we can all agree that's what happened. Several women were harrased and sent death threats. It was a big thing, I think we all remember it. The talk dominated much of the game discussion. There were very loud people who even sought to justify it. A few people decided that things should not really be going down that path. That being a gamer doesn't have to be about that. That we all have a responsibility to put an end to it. That developers, the tech industry, and we the consumers should not tolerate a voice of hate being the loudest in the room and allowing them to tarnish the reputation we have as a whole. And instead of trying to be better, which is what we should have all moved to do, some people double downed on that behavior. They were offended that anyone call into questions the culture or ask them to do anything. They tried to marginalize people who asked us to be better. There were accused of immorally conspiring to ask us to have better standards. It's just so disappointing. Yes, because the people telling others to be "better" really went about it in a way that had any realistic chances of success. Who could have known that snark, condescension and the usual Twitter echo chamber dogpiling would not actually be persuasive. Interesting that you see it that way, but oh well. It's all been rather entertaining, people wringing their hands and actually being upset that the industry is affected by this and that anything of value was lost (Brice ? Frank ? anyone?). But it looks like it has ended. About the only thing that may change is that people may learn Twitter is useless for discussion. Well, and Quinn, Alexander and Wu's Patreon accounts, perhaps.
