  1. SR had both actually. I was talking about the cyberpunk theme setting more so then the fantasy (magick, trolls, elves, etc) elements.
  2. Stand corrected... the TRAILER was deved and released by blur.com NOT the actual game. My mistake. However they ARE making it less tactical. From what the post said they are making the combat more 'fast paced' and seemed to imply bioware is going in a more action game with RPG elements direction. They still talk about budget cuts and the game on a fast track which generally never bodes well.
  3. Such a great cyberpunk, shadowrun feel... looking forward to it!
  4. Can't wait for this game... while I liked FO3 clearly wasn't the same writing team of the first 2. They didn't hit the nail on the head when it came to the dark humor and the related writing style of the first 2. A for effort but about a C+ (B in some areas) on execution. None the less looking forward to what JE and the team can do at the helm of the writing.
  5. From what they were saying on blues news, DA2 is being subcontracted to a 3rd party developer, has suffered budget cuts and on the fast track for release. As we all know from experience those are all the elements of a solid title... yes.. that was sarcasm.. Subcontracting? Huh, never heard anything about that if true. Couldn't possibly understand the reasoning for it as iirc bioware has two dev teams; dedicated to ME and DA respectively. yes some company I never heard of (which does not mean a lot) is deving DA2.. bioware is in effect acting as a exec producer level but the actual dev is this other studio. If I come across the name of the studio again ill post it.
  6. And this man wins this round of nerd rage fight... discussion over...
  7. No.. the sarcasm is the last statement.. the points I brought up were stated on blues.

  9. You took a lot of heat because you used a ton of words when 20 would have worked fine. You also took a lot of heat for inferring a conclusion that 50% should be a median score. But you can come on and toot your horn all you want if you need that type of self-affirmation. It doesn't dispute that your original article was both boring and unimaginative. You said nothing that wasn't already apparent. Might as well have stated the sky was blue. In your opinion. Some people like to you know.. read... and not dumb down a article unlike what you prefer, or capable of processing perhaps. You also have selective memory or again processing issues with lots of words.. I was using a personal scale of where 50% is AVERAGE. Menaing I felt most of there games getting a B- or higher rating should be getting closer to a C- or so. My point being its silly to give all those games ABOVE average scores. (~85 average on their scale is above average) hence clearly some of them didn't deserve such. Clearly if all the games in 30 days are averaging such rating were were in some kind of gaming golden are which I found hard to beleive (as did most others who read it. For the record I had just as mnay folks agree with me). Especially when some of said games were paint by the numbers shooters or RTS being reviewed. I dont need 'self-affirmation' at all.. however it puts a smile on my face to be proved right from people like you there was back room dealings going on which my article strongly implied. Cute how you can sit here and say it was 'apparent' when you have hindsight. You are so astute... Speking of boring and unimaginative your short sighted critque could easily be considered the same. Then again your apparetly not that bright to pick up the deeper points I was making in that article. *shrugs*
  10. Same reason ferret was let go I am sure. Personality conflict with fergus and the other powers that be. May have to be with his ability (or lack of) but considering the titles Chris has worked on I find that less likely. However if that was the case hes certainly beefed up his resume since so perhaps fergus would reconsider. However if it was due to personality clashes odds less that would be fixable. Some folks just cant work together due to vastly different mind sets.
  11. Funny. I did a write up commentary of how gameing sites and how biased they are back when I ran nwn2news in 2005 or so. I went to 4 of the top gaming sites and over the last 30 days of that time averaged the score of all the reviews within that period. 3 of the 4 sites were all averaging mid 80s ratings. IIRC gamespy had the lowest average of the mid 70s of the 4 sites. (The other 3 being ign, gamespot and 1up). I took a lot of heat back then for the article, people flaming me saying that didn't prove anything, its a abnormality, my math was wrong, etc. But over the years after I posted that these kind of tidbits like the one above keep popping up IMO validating my findings back then.
  12. I am not sure how I feel about the new no more then 1 military unit per hex rule... seems odd and counter to launching a ww2 type war. But like some of the other changes we will have to see it in action before making a firm opinion.
  13. I prefer impulse to steam myself. From what I have seen impulse is much more flexable when you want to run runs your bought from it. (ie dont have to have it running to play a game)
  14. REALLY looking forward to this. While beth did a reasonable job with FO3 there was certainly a air of them trying TOO hard with the black humor. In FO1 and 2 it just came off naturally and flowed, in FO3 is seemed forced and too obvious. Not surprising however as that happens a lot when a new team takes over a established product from another. I am hoping MCA and the rest will get back in the groove with vegas and the fo 1/2 style of writing. My hopes are high.
  15. Chris is a awesome guy. We still talk from time to time I'd love to see obsidian pick him up if this falls though and he ends up on the market. He was actually the lead dev on LotR:O before the publisher/dev house swtich mid way though its development. He could certainly help with the next FO title after vegas IMO as he knows the material well.
  16. Some people did not like the fact the RPG stats played into your aiming skill. No matter how good YOUR (players) aiming was the skill points played a part into your hitting. Similar to the whining about bloodlines firearms skill/shooting. For exmaple if you only have 1 skill point in the rifle skill and was using a sniper rifle the rifle would randomly sway left/right and up/down as you aimed even if you were not moving, also you would reload slow. More points into the skill the sway became less and less and your reload speed increased for every point. I personally liked the system. If one wants to play a FPS then go play mordern warfare or call of duty where the game mimics YOUR skill. In a CRPG you ROLE PLAYING a character so of course the RPG stats should and do play a part in the characters ability ingame. CoD isn't claiming to be a CRPG, DE is however.
  17. IIRC herve had 20mil put towards the project between the FO sale to beth and some investors I read about a yr+ ago to work on it. So if they don't go crazy they should be able to put some kind of working mmorpg out. However how much of that is getting burned up in legal fees and mis-management is anyones guess.
  18. While he and I never got along and I thought he was mostly a arse clown, and still do, any death is unfortuniate. I am not going to sit here and type how great he was and how much I will miss him as that is just blowing smoke to make myself feel better. Fact is I don't think he was nor will I, while not popular the truth is what it is. That said he'll be back in one form or another sooner or later walking amoung us so it's all good.
  19. IIRC, that happened to me back in Civilization I. The enemy had a spearman fortified in a town, i on the other hand, had feckin' NUKE. The spearman won. I read a interview when civ4 came out they changed the combat formula to specificly reduce this issue.
  20. On max the graphics still look pretty dated if you ask me. Deff time for a overhaul if for nothing else that.
  21. The AI only cheats if your difficulty is above the 2/3 level or so. Its only the last handful of top levels it cheats. The low and mid levels it follows the same ruleset as the player.
  22. More information about Fallout: New Vegas from the PSM3 article:
  23. From CVG: In an exclusive first look at Fallout New Vegas, CVG sister mag PSM3 reveals that developer Obsidian has taken dialogue and scripting up a notch in the sequel to Fallout 3. Lead producer of Fallout New Vegas, Larry Liberty said: "We had to modify the dialogue engine from Fallout 3 to include the types of dialogue and options that we wanted. "We want real, memorable characters. I think it helps you to remember parts of the world you'd otherwise forget." As part of its world-exclusive cover feature, PSM3 played an extensive demo of New Vegas. The mag reported that it was 'apparent that Obsidian are much more comfortable behind the keyboard than the team that made Fallout 3 and, before that, Oblivion. The scripting is wittier, the characters more distinct.' We brought you the official trailer for Fallout New Vegas on Thursday. You can read PSM3's full first look in issue 124, which goes on sale on Thursday 4 February.
  24. This is a cut/paste from the official forums of someone in the UK who wrote the bullet points about the game from the article. Similar to what I did then I got ahold of the PC Gamer and wrote the bullet points about the NWN2 cover story. As for mr. 3 days ago arse clown, a. no one else posted it here that I saw and b. clearly not eveyone here goes to the official forums to know about this. So get that stick out of your arse and relax.
