Well that sounds fairly lame and certainly does not tie up nearly what bioware implied it would. I am glad I saved my $7! Thanks for the info however.

And whats the ending diff, if any, if you go though the mirror or not with her? Sorry not going to black this out if you open a thread clearly marked 'spoilers' then your asking to be spoiled.

After reading the reviews I simply can't part with my money for so little play time and new content. So anyone who has bought this DLC please spoil me and tell me what little morrg clears up in her storyline, or any other storyline details that are worth mentioning thank you.

Interesting how you managed that. Looking forward to playing this without a doubt. I generally don't play the kill everything im a psycho character but good to know either case. I generally play a LN merc type of character.

Maybe they wanted to check whether there were any "essential" NPCs around. Is it possible to break the main quest in the game? I find that hard to accept they would allow that. I am sure the core NPCs for the main story line are flagged as invulnerable or at the very least their stats are so god like killing them would be near impossible even with the best equipment. Thats pretty standard in most CRPGs. You can frak up side quest NPCs im sure however There's only 1 unkillable NPC in the game excluding children actually and they've confirmed that months ago. Odd... so if you accidentally frak up a main NPC time to reload a save as you broke the main stroyline?.. interesting.. we'll see how that plays out.. Thanks for the info.

You people do know there are other levels between off and get a prompt for every little action? I have mine set as the default which is one tick below 'make noise for everything'. Its not that intrusive and only alerts me when a app is going to install or make changes to core windows files. Unless im installing something I never notice it. Theres a total of 4 levels of the UAC you can config the sensitivity to how you like. As a IT guy id STRONGLY suggest you not disable it.

I am sure they are using the same assets in FO3 plus new/modified. Great thing about a sequel or semi-sequel like FONV is they have all the original assets plus new zots to spend on fresh ones. So in game you got a better variety of art then the initial game. As they needed to spend so many zots just building the engine and related parts of the first game variety generally gets pushed to the back burner.

Wouldn't be a Harlequin post without an insult, eh? ahh so he can call people who like morrg 'butthurt fanboys' and thats ok.. but when I point out a obvious observation im being a big meanie... Nice double standard.

wow.. bitter over others enjoyment much? lol Jesting aside its human nature not to want to be left hanging, virtual world or otherwise. And as posted above this was a major thread of a major character and being as popular as she was this was a no brainer for a DLC or expansion. Clearly you didn't like the char and you are entitled to such, however you are in the minority on this level. Obviously a lot of people want this loose end tied up. Sorry if you can't grasp that fact or your opinion of her story is the loosing side of the debate

No one is saying there was no humor that I read. We are discussing beths ability to deliver the same quality subtle black humor in fo 1 and 2. They did TRY for that, however it seems most ppl here felt they fell short simply because they don't have the writing chops for the same level as fo1 and 2. Like I said before, A for effort.. about a C- on execution.

I actually like the fact that each Fallout has a clearly different take on the universe, though for the most part, similar enough that they're not... you know, they're more like different angles that accentuate different things, rather than violating each other's canon. FO1 was the most 'sombre' of them all, FO2 went zany and pop, FO3 decided to put the 50's aspect into very sharp relief. I mean, there are problems in the sense that the FO3 world could have avoided making so many small lore-contradictions, and that they butchered the BOS for no reason other than to make "cool wasteland jedi knights yarr", but I think it did a good job in giving FO3 a strong and consistent identity. It depends on your priorities. As Starwars says, if you were there at the time and/or read up on the developer comments and such, it's quite very clear what the original devs' vision was, and it's quite clear that FO2 diverged a fair bit from that, and FO3 very much from it. I just think that with a game franchise, and a long-lived one like this, you'll never really get a consistent auteur vision even if you get Tim Cain back on the project, and I like seeing the different take each game does, as well as it's well done and is sensitive to what came before. The issue which is the root if the problem is the fact beth and BIS/OE have very contrasting writing styles, skill levels and view points. Its the same reason the tv show the west wing went downhill after the 4th season. The main writer left the show, some other people took over and the 5th season the characters took a totally different tone as did the story lines. Same different here while some of the staff from fo1 were still around for fo2 thus the tone didn't change a huge amount but beth started with all new crew so the changes in tone and style certainly are more in your face and obvious. I stand by my opinion the style of fo far exceeds the writing skill of the beth ppl which seem more at home writing their 49th fed ex quest for morrowind then a dark humor post apoc setting. I will however in fairness disagree and defend their BOS of DC. Really they couldn't keep the isolationist mentality of the west coast BOS and survive. So to me it made logical sense for them to open up their ranks. While they might have taken the protect the DC area a bit too far even under those conditions I could see them naturally moving in that direction as their ranks got filled up more and more with DC recruits and the old school west coast ppl died and were replaced. Thats old school way of thinking would slowly get replaced over time.

True.. however it does not take a major plot re-write to add in the black humor elements which was my point... anyone with skill can do that after the fact. ie putting in a snarky, grim description for a gun or location is main plot/story/dialog independent.

*shrug* Anything elvis has been done to death, but yeah, if they can do it well the content might have legs. Game developers trying desperately to be funny is a pretty awkward and uncomfortable though. If they were really funny they would be either stand-up comedians or game show hosts. If anyone can pull it off MCA can... Yes beth tried too hard with the humor and over reached more times then not.. I think thats clear as day in fo3 to anyone but a die hard fanboy. No offense to beth but they IMO simply dont have the writing chops to pull off the subtle dark humor of the fo franchise. Why I am so excited MCA and gang are doing it. hhhmmm depends on execution but I COULD see a mad max thunderdome kind of arena area spoof with said game show host... that would fit fairly well I think.

The fact that it's fixed with a mod doesn't really change the fact that it's a flaw. Especially since the consoles don't get mod. And especially since we don't know if Dragon Age 2 will be moddable. I agree with your initial comment. Its a flaw, lack of foresight in the design process however there is a 'fix' hence my point. One does not have to suffer with it. As for consoles, don't know and frankly couldn't care less. I am a PC gamer. I find it hard to believe they will rewrite the code to remove the ease of its modding functionality. In this age of PC gaming moving away from that would be akin to shooting yourself in the foot.

What do you mean? I disliked the skill allocation and that magic pwned all, but the combat was solid in Origins. Hated combat in Awakening. Lack of balance, poor enemy placement, an added layer of fake difficulty derived by the fact that you have to spend skill points just to set your companion tactics decently, misleading ability descriptions. None of that is inherent in the system, so they should all be fixable (I think at least the tactics problem was fixed) but it looks like apparently Bioware is pooling its resources into making awesome things happen when you push your buttons. A commendable goal, but that's not what I care about Dragon Age. Get the mod to give all your companions 25 tactic slots... makes the game FAR more enjoyable as you don't need to micromanage them every 5 sec and can spend points on real skills.
-
They already said they are going to 'fix' the 'slow combat' so expect less tactics more action on this level.

I kinda don't want to bring up yet another discussion about this but it is fairly clear and laid out on the interwebz what the original designers (as in the people who did Fallout 1) wanted to accomplish with the game. Furthermore, as wonderful as it is to point out NMA as the cancer of the universe, you're bound to find the same type of arguments (generally speaking) within any fan-community. Hell, as I understand it there are people complaining about how DS3 is breaking the Dungeon Siege tradition. Completely unfathomable to me personally as I think the two first games (based on what little I've played) were bad and boring, but there you are. I agree with the people who say that the 50s thing is taken a bit far. Something I liked about Fallout 1 was that you could still take it pretty seriously as a post-apoc game, even though there was obviously humor in it. But I think as the series goes on, the 50s schtick is so prevalent that it almost feels like the game is poking fun at itself a lot of the time. There's a lot of stuff I really look forward to in New Vegas, namely how roleplaying seems to very improved, especially with the factions and the player's role in them... But a lot of stuff, like the gang of Elvis impersonators for example, doesn't strike me as particularly Fallout (if I may *dare* to even suggest that) and downright strange all together. As far as mna and my view of them is concerned i'll tell you a story and leave it at that. many moons ago I emailed the admin, politely and tactfully countering a view point of some op ed they wrote about fallout. The reply I got back from him was telling me to, literally, STFU and other various f bombs as apparently if I didn't agree I didn't know my arse from my elbow. So yes that experience certainly colors the view I have on them, the kind of community they foster and their site and why I think they are bunch of arses. As for the 50s thing who took it too far? Beth? Well thats a valid argument.. not sure I agree but one thats debatable. However with BIS/OE now doing this FO I wouldn't begin to argue of their vision. They designed it they get to say what FO is or isn't. As for the BLACK humor thats been a staple of FO so how anyone can argue thats not FO is beyond me. I think beth however on this level tries too hard and over reached their ability with black humor writing. A for effort but about a C on execution. I think OE however will get the subtle black humor back on track and not over do it but also not try so hard and make it too obvious like beth did in fo3. I think you and others are too hung up on the serious side of FO.. the mad max side if you will you forgot what made FO unique.. was the dark humor.. and poking fun at itself and subtle inside jokes. I think the elvis thing fits great with the type of dry and dark humor the first 2 had. After the bombs fall what survives? A army of elvises! Thats priceless!

I see.. so one can praise NMA but can't criticize it. Nice. If you can't read between the lines.. if you are not going to allow one you shouldn't the other end of the spectrum either. Seems your just being a biased mod if that was your intent or not by only leaving the 'nma is good' posts. Also I should add I was not 'trolling' I would ask you research the term as it does not apply to my posts. Trolling <> I disagree with your view FYI
-
I also find it funny how some of the fans think THEY know what fallout 'is' vs. the ORIGINAL DESIGNERS. I mean.. really? How arrogant and self important can you be? From some of the posts here and elsewhere apparently quite a bit. IMO if OE/BIS says 'this is what fallout is' then thats it. I am entitled to my opinion but in the end the designers view is law. End of discussion. I am not even going to pretend to know better then them.
-
Kind of my view on it.. sounds like they are just making a action RPG aka dungeon siege not a deep tactical RPG like DA1.
-
Bottom line.. it costs more to hire 2 VA then one VA to play 2 different non-major characters. Its a cost vs benefit formula and the publisher will most always go with the cost saving option when it comes to the VA.

Please tell me that's sarcasm...

Name some then. I wonder what's your definition for the FedEx quest, as KotOR seem to be full of 'em. Maybe I'm wrong here, but FedEx is the "collect 20 shining bear asses" kind of quest, while your example is a Fetch quest. A fedex quest is defined as 'bring object a to location b' type quests. Hence the term... its a delivery quest not collection quest.
