dual weilding with high dex and moderate con (20+) most times out survives a well armored tank like stan. In fact I have to baby sit stan to keep him from dying. With leh and zep with their med armor and duel weapons and high crits just kick as much arse as the warrior classes if not more. Simply the game mechanics favor high dex, duel weilding abilities without a doubt. I have alister as my main aggro with sword/shield and shield wall on. He and my main PC (human warrior) draws most of the aggro and as long as I can keep the aggro on them the rogues and mages normally open a 6 pack of whoop arse. So much for tactics as that formula works with 85% of the encounters boss and some elites aside. Agreed, my rogue really hasn't fallen often. Maybe 3 times in 70+ hours of play. Alastair is my main tank, and he is one tough bugger to kill! Sten... *sigh*... he only looks tough. Even Wynne can't keep him alive. On another note, I agreed with whoever said that Crushing Prison owns! However, I've discovered the joy of Wynne's Petrify and frankly it's even better! Leh and zep stay on their feet for a entire battle I'd say a good 85 to 90% of the time. and morg (respeced as a arcine warrior but even as a shifter) didnt around the 75% success rate unless I baby sat her. alister does pretty well on his own as does shale. However the dwarf and sten with their 2H wepaons are usually the first to go down first. Especially sten. I respected the dwarf to a 1H/shield guy and he survives much better as a tank. I kept sten as a 2H and just built up his con and dex to make him worth while in battle. While slow at least he hits at a reasonable % now and can take more then 5 hits. (starting con of 10? really?!)

The lack of speed vs damage with 2H when you do hit ratio vs duel weilding hit dex is a no brainer. DW with dex 28+ and duel weild abilities will out do a strong 2H any day of the week. In the same time period (say 20 sec) I have no doubt leh does vastly more damage total and hits more then stan. Unless your 2H has high str, con AND dex they are not practicle nor very robust. Again stan falls down more then he is up. Of course your bioware folk pretty much put the nail in his coffin to begin with considering his starting stats. Poor con/HP, poor dex and 2H skills. So not only is he the slowest to strike but he also misses alot AND can't take much damage. Basically out of the box, per se, stan is useless in combat as-is. Whoever designed him stat wise did not take the game mechanics into account, and if they did they did not have a grasp of them.

Now its my turn to say 'very enlightening' comment. So since floodgate screwed bioware over in the SoU expansion pack its ok for bioware to screw someone over too with that logic? Or even more basic anology if I jump off a bridge you going to follow too because I did? Bottom line I don't think finger pointing with 'well they do it too!' is a very legit excuse which is in essence your retort.

Obsidian: Not much since Sega was paying the bills for it for the most part. Its the publishers dime you are spending not the developers generally. Bioware: Nothing since Bioware is now a arm of EA, it cost EA not Bioware. True. But I wasn't really making a point about where the money was coming from. rather I was making a point that a lot of money was spent on games that were cancelled after years in development or on games that were rebooted after a substantial period of development. In other words, a lot of money, somebody's money, was spent on content that was tossed. If a company of any sort makes a habit of this sort of thing they are going to have financial issues. *cough*dukenukeforever*cough* (I think the forever is the development time actually) But as a whole I don't disagree but my point is there are exceptions. I DO disagree with the comments expansions are dead and DLC is the replacing it. If you look at the sims3 they do BOTH. xp's AND DLC. And both do quite well. Do I think thats the system we are all heading too a bit of both? Yes. But traditoonal expansions are not going anywhere. They generate way to much cash for big titles and DLC is frankly way to new and too much resistance to it for them to toss all their egss in that basket.

It's called a flag bug that didnt fire off eariler in their game that has now caused a domino effect. The deeper they go into the game the more they are going to find things broken. Their best course of action at this point is to start a new game to be 100% safe since theres no way to know when the flag that was supposed to fire didnt. Just another bug to add to the growing list is all.

Thank you for taking care of the derailers. -

CRPG. I'm surprised people think they would use the old WoD setting. Wow somehow I missed this gem. TW2000 would make a great mmorpg setting as well. Of course prob want to rename it tw2025 or such Ever play the PnP game stalking the night fantastic or witchcraft? StNF predates the secret world and xfiles. Both are similar to the idea of the SW and somewhat in common with WoD. In both game worlds there are secret orgs, some with magic or paranormal abilities fighting in the shadows below the radar of mom and pop on the street. Certainly, if done right, a mold breaking mmorpg like that would do well. We certainly don't need yet another S&S mmo. -
When we have True Blood why step down to Twilight? I mean isn't that like going from of porche 900 series to a chevy nova? But no I didn't go see it, after being talked into going to see the first one (2 hrs of my life I'll never get back ) I refuse to be suckered into that mess again

Or shortly after being released, exactly where WAR seems to be headed. Really? I heard they had a pretty bad drop off rate but not that bad. Thats pretty harsh but in all honesty they shot themselves in the foot as well. You'd think after the mess of AoC mmorpg devs would learn but seems they are destined to keep repeating the same mistakes. From what I read (in fairness WAR wasn't high on my list so only what I gathered on blues news) they stumbled into some of the exact pot holes AoC did. And with WAR released less then a year after AoC I feel theres little excuse. Of course I could be mislead on my impressions of what blues is reporting as well. -

The master? They only have EVE, the next game doesn't even have a release date. @TheHarlequin: It's an MMO, until it is actually released and proves otherwise you ALWAYS expect the worst(or get severely disappointed). Actually you could say that about PC games in general, not just MMOs, and still be accurate -

As the wiki states while there is no confirmed info its pretty much a given the setting will be NWoD not OWoD (new/old). Since WW has publicly stated the OWoD is now defunct in their eyes theres little reason to assume they are going to ressurect it. But stranger things have happened certainly. And there is the possibility we could get a hybrid MMORPG version. Its one of those situation of hope for the best (if you are a OWoD fan) but expect the worst (per se). As for changling I wouldn't hold my breath either (at least on initial release) the press who went to the studio and saw concept art for the MMO reported he only saw art of vamps and what looked like werewolves. Of course that does not mean their won't be but IMO changling seems to be too much of a sliver fan base to cater to vs the amount of work it would require to add to the game. But who knows. If I was a betting man I'd say, at best, on initial release we are getting vamps, werewolves and mages. We'll see how close I am next year. -
QFT One of the best and most insightful posts I have seen in some time. Well said and I agree with pretty much all points made. Kudos to you!

If you want all the confirmed info about the game that we know as of now its here: http://www.wodonlinenews.net/Wiki/tabid/64...Darkness+MMORPG Its not a lot by far but its something. I have my eye on secret world as well. Not sure how I feel about it. I hopped on board AoC 3 months after launch and it was still a mess and continued to be. I hear it is JUST now shaping up and all the rough edges are smooth. So while I am hoping for the best with secret world I am expecting a poor launch with funcoms track record of AA and AoC. I will wait a month or two after launch see what kind of feedback there is and decide then if I will use it to tie me over until WoD comes out or not. I will say SW LOOKS interesting and the concept is unique for a MMORPG. Twilight 2000 the PnP RPG you are refering too or did they make a CRPG of it? -

Well anyone with a ounce of maturity would have simply skipped it and moved on. You don't see me posting in every thread I have 0 interest in the fact I have 0 interest in it over and over (as some of these anti-mmo folks do in every mmo thread). What does it accomplish aside from the kid like antics of 'look at me, look at me!!!!!'? *shrugs*. So no I don't think its condecending at all. I thinks it a simple accurate observation on my part and nothing more. If they feel its inaccurate and my opinions matters so much to them perhaps they should learn tact/etiquette and stop giving me reason to envision them as 16 yr old kids on daddys PC who never were taught proper social skills? Those that are lashing out simply, IMO, are those that my comment hit a nerve with and just reaffirm my point. Thankfully my ego/pride/self worth is not based on what some unknown strangers, kids, whatever think of me on the internet even though they comment as if I do. *chuckle* Moving on to a topic of move substance... I could never get into star wars. While I am happy for the sw fans they now have a couple mmos and I think sw (just like fallout and shadowrun) lend itself as a great setting for a mmorpg. Again I never liked sw and never got into the mmos or crpgs. If EA plays its cards right, it will have a great mmo with biowares sw game. OTOH it could be all bells and whistles and fluff and little substance. With bioware and now EA in the mix you just never know which you are going to get. As for WoD, those comments are promising, especially the 'its not going to be wow with fangs' as thats been the fear by many WoD fans. And it's nice to see reafirmation that games is still in development. Since there is little other news now coming out about it since the info lock down this past summer. Since the WW folks are directly involved in the development there is no third party to put any blame if it tanks. Point being if the developers of the original game its based on can't pull it off then perhaps it was never meant to be. -

Funny or childish depending on your point of view I suppose. The kids in this thread aside, considering the amount of traffic my site gets and almost 0 info has been released about except that it is indeed in production there is a lot of interest. Here are my site stats for the past 10 months: Hits Total Hits 5,873,264 Normal Hits 5,654,762 Spider Hits 180,221 Average Hits per Day 18,071 Average Hits per Visit 45.17 Page Views Total Page Views 1,062,442 Average Page Views per Day 3,269 Average Page Views per Visit 8.17 Unique Page Views 396,885 Visits Total Visits 130,040 Normal Visits 75,699 Spider Visits 27,207 Average Visits per Day 400 Total Unique Visitors 57,537 Total Visitor Stay Length 18602:47:55 Average Visitor Stay Length 8:34 Full stats here: http://www.wodonlinenews.net/Forums/tabid/...84/Default.aspx To put it in perspective nwn2news.net when I ran that was getting 8 million page views & 18,000 unique visitors a month in its last year of operation but it went online the week of the official announcement for that game. With that in mind clearly theres a fair amount of interest considering the numbers already and it's just going to grow. -

A while back yes. However didn't feel like digging for it. Does it matter? Not really considering how may DA threads are going on or other such topics. You have anything constructive to add or just nit picking and derailing the thread? -

Here are the most relevant quotes from the White Wolf YouTube videos we posted about earlier on our site. These were videos of a White Wolf GenCon type conference they had less then a month ago. Thanks to Cahalith for transcribing the videos. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I am the senior producer for the World of Darkness MMO that we are working on. Thanks. Glad you guys are excited about it. But I'm not going to talk about that today, unfortunately. I know it's a horrible tease, right? But the fact is, before we talk about the World of Darkness MMO, we want it to be right, and we're spending millions of dollars getting it right and we want to make sure that when we are ready to show it, we are ready to show it. And the one thing I can tell you is that we absolutely will be taking the attitude of a company like Blizzard

If you are implying they are just going to pepper us with little 1hr DLC here and 1hr DLC there for the next year until the EoL for DA1 (becasue we know they are in preproduction for DA2 ATM) then I agree. Some may be worth $5. others not so much. I was disappointed like many with wardens keep and I got shale for free. Will I buy any more DLC for DA? Prob not, if they are all going to be as short and more fluff then substance like WK. Well executed fluff I will admit but fluff none the less. And WK also seems unfinished to boot. (cant re-enter, let the mage live and that plot is left dangling, etc)

As someone said in a previous thread bioware should have paid peter jackson royalty fees for all the concepts and art style they stol... ermmm.. borrowed. Some of the video of the large battles are almost movement for movement of the TT and RotK scenes. And theres the dwarf/elf architecture from the flims/LotR artwork. Not that its a bad thing, I loved the LotR movies but they were so obvious about it didn't even try it seems to put their own spin on it. Just cut and paste from the LotR franchise for the most part. *shrugs*

If you get a good one they are invaluable and a excellent tool.

Who asked you about dying? Looking back, asked wasn't the proper word to use.

If you really understood or were as educated as you think you are you'd be able to fill in the blanks. I didn't think I'd need to hand hold you. Sorry I over estimated your grasp of the topic. However let me break it down for you. Funny, you even used Hitler as a example, and what are the first few steps he used to dismatle the existing govt when he took power? What happened to the roman republic? What happened during WW2 to asian americans? And what did bush do? Those are all examples of a govt using fear tactics to justify stripping away civil liberties or/and some level of democracy in the name of saftey or/and protecting you from the current big bad of the day. It all started with small events but few folks resisted or were complacient out of fear or short sightedness and thus it snowballed*. Thats my point. Everything else you posted was just fluff and clearly just me hitting a nerve with you. You'll get over it. *Of course there were other factors in all those examples I gave but this isn't a thesis nor do they take away from the basic point I am making.
