  1. Quoted for truth. Also find it odd he only slept with young boys, never girls... that's telling in of itself.
  2. Thankfully I don't subscribe to your christian dribble. I have better things to do then read a fictional book that is mistranslated, contradicts itself and read out of context.
  3. 'harsh' or being honest? Why tip toe around the topic? He was a vile man who molested children and IMO got what he deserved. If this guy was some average guy who lived down the street from you all the facts the same except we wasn't a singer/celebrity there would be a lynch mob after him and most everyone would be dancing on his grave. But he had some hits in the 80s and only because of that some of you are blinded by that. Its sick and some of you should be disgusted with yourself for celebrating the life of a CHILD MOLESTER. Unreal how celebrities blind some people. I liked some of his songs in the 80s as well does not make him a good person. Please forgive me for feeling some sadness for the passing of man whose music was a big part of my childhood. I am surely a disgusting person. I find it entertaining you have no issue looking the other way of someone who clearly had issues with his attraction to young boys because you liked his music. Again, minus his music yet keep all other facts the same I'd put any amount of money down you'd along with everyone else feigning a tear would be dancing on his grave and saying good riddance. Simple minds blinded by the aura of celebrity status I suppose is the explanation.

Maybe he stayed at the mental age of 8 for the rest of his life. None of his children is biologically his. I bet that he wasn't even interested in any form of sexuality to begin, because that was icky grown-up stuff. I also bet that he died as a virgin. I wouldn't dispute this and say its just as possible. Have you seen the items in his house? A pic of him as jesus with children following him, tons of collectible kid toys on display, a wall sized print if him dressed as royalty with words implying he is some kind of savior and immortal. It's pretty messed up and creepy. Either case he has at LEAST a unhealthy attraction to young boys or was guilty of molesting them. Either case IMO he got what he deserved like all people like that. Love karma.
  5. And that makes them more 'special' then the thousands of others who died in the same time span that weren't a celebrity? Did farrah or ed improve and make your life meaningful? You make it sound as if you lost your best friends. Unless you knew them personally their effect of life or death on your life is pretty much nil. If I was to place odds I'd say far more important people in your life time have died that did have a real impact on your life then a d list celeb, child molester and late night pitch man.

  7. I thought it was pretty obvious from the view of the philosophy of western karma.
  8. To be honest it's hard for me to care, considering odds are we was a child molester. Interesting how everyone is overlooking that fact. I simply see it as karma getting its due on him. No one settles out of court on those kind of charges unless there is something to them. See catholic church for a prime example. Yes he had a great pop rock influence in the 80s and until the mid 90s but he been irrelevant music wise for the past decade. I find it odd people are tripping over themselves on his death as if he still had any musical clout in recent memory.
  9. If one goes back and reads my posts from about when bio got eaten up by EA I believe I said its only a matter of time before bioware ceases being a entity in of itself even on paper and will be assimilated as just another cog in a giant corporation. *looks at his watch* I dislike when I have to say 'I told you so' to the bio fan boys... however...
  10. Says the guy who comes from a region where the solstice celebrations was adopted not founded itself (Greeks get that gold star). Hypocrite perchance? And your region is not the only area that still celebrated it on some level even after Christianity screwed everything up. Still a popular event and pagan holiday on the British isles for example, a tradition that predates Christianity on the isle in fact. They lite bone fires in celebration that continue to this day.
  11. ermm the solstice celebration has pre-xian pagan roots (like many xian holidays actually (christimas, easter, all saints day, may day to name a few).. your welcome Christians... ) hippies <> pagans FYI
  12. Have a wonderful summer solstice! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/eu_britain_stonehenge
  13. And he got that concept from the real life techno-pagans.. minus the flashy FX 'magic' (I wish I could do that...) JW was pretty accurate at his depiction of wiccans on the show. I know the local wiccan/pagan community here in Boston it was VERY popular with us when it was still airing due to that.
  14. I don't get the whole techno-pagan movement myself. And this from a pretty open minded pagan who practices witchcraft and modern wizardry. But they claim it works for them so... *shrugs* I don't dispute there will be idiots in WoD just like eve. Simply saying the less dumbed down game play/mechanics and less the game will attract the instant gratification kiddies. Not that element will be removed, just culled.
  15. > Just a though here, but you really do like your vampires, don't you? I am a student of all occult topics actually. Hobby of mine if you will, as a modern day pagan witch pretty typical interest at that. > CCP is doing awesomely, I was talking more in general. Fair enough. > I also find it really funny when the "hardcore" MMO people are calling WoW kiddie. At the end of the day you are still both mining rocks and hauling crap from one place to another, why not get along? I certainly wouldn't call myself 'hardcore'. I would call myself someone who likes a pleasant gaming environment not over run with l33t speak and idiot kids out just to grief other users for kicks. Generally games like eve scare many of them away from what I see (certainly not all but a noticeable amount) because you need to use your brain as much as your twitch reflexes. I have no issue 'getting along' with those types of kid players. As long as they stay away from me and whatever game I am playing Since WoD is going to be rated M that right there will cut down on some of the issue anyways. *shrugs*
  16. > I was kidding, and as fate would have it, I'm not an expert on vampire slaying... hehe.. well here is a great video about 10 mins that really dives into not just the recent lore but ancient vampire mythos. Very accurate and interesting if you are so inclined for a real history of the vampire mythos; http://www.wodonlinenews.net/Forums/tabid/...81/Default.aspx > You'd think that other MMO developers would also like to have a lot of subscribers and money, why the hell aren't they catering to the lowest common denominator, but doing it better? I think folks like CCP rather have a balance between their vision, gameplay and player base. Where other devs like blizzard seems to be all about the $ and little else. I have to give folks like CCP credit. They could have dumbed down EVE, as WoW is, long ago but stuck to their guns. Now they have over 300K active subs. While just a dent vs WoW that is still a reasonable amount of subs and clearly enough to keep it profitable. If they have that same mind set while developing WoD with white wolf we shall be in for a treat. Plus, a more complex, hard core game like EVE will scare away many of the kiddies which IMO makes for a much more pleasant in-game environment.
  17. Because WoW caters to the lowest common denominator player. When you cater to such and put the bar so low you have a much larger player base to tap into.
  18. I want to be able to first stake the vampires, then cut their heads off and fill their mouths with holy wafers and holy water. It also sucks that WoD vamps can enter homes uninvited and cross running water You do know most of what you are saying if fairly modern vampire lore. Go back father then the Victorian era and those 'weaknesses' (and prob most of what you know about vampire lore) don't exist.
  19. Obvious trolling? How many open source (read: volunteer) source projects do you know that failed especially due the will of a "project lead" that refused to force his decisions upon the team even in fields where he clearly lacks the expert knowledge? I'm with Krezack here: especially if you're working with volunteers you might want to let them decide about specific aspects how things are handled in their department instead of playing all-knowing dictator. You might have simply misunderstood the concept of subsidiarity: it actually means leaving the main decisions in a certain development department to the developers who understand the field best. You usually don't want to let your musicians decide what design patterns to use programming-wise. You don't want to let the programmers dictate all the gameplay elements. You actually got experts for each field, artists, programmers, musicians, gameplay designers, project managers, story writers. Why not use this expert knowledge and leave the majority of the decisions in each department to them? It doesn't mean that they're unwilling to listen to feedback; quite the contrary! It just means that it's a bad idea in general to let the designer of a car decide how the engine of a car should be constructed while he actually knows far more about design than about how to properly construct an engine. The project manager is responsible that each department properly cooperates with each other and that you get a working car in the end. So far - despite some obvious drawbacks here and there that are pretty much what happens to 95% of all open source projects - we seem to be on a quite good way. Of course I don't jump on the lets pat you on the back bandwagon so I MUST be trolling... can't be I say something out of experience or even project mgt 101 skills. That said, the very reasons you list is why commercial ventures are more times then not vastly more successful (as in get completed) then open source projects. The whole 'let run it as a democracy' (or there abouts) outlook which you apparently have. Sorry that is a poor way to get a job done. You are not trying to run a legislative branch of a govt. You are running a s/w project. Which includes you having vision, goals and as a project lead executing those goals and vision. Nothing wrong with getting feedback back and input from your team of course. But in the end of the day you need a strong leader to put his/her foot down and say this is the direction we are going, this is my vision and this is what you need to get done. And if someone isn't on board with that there is the door find someone who is. I lost count how many times I have seen open source teams try this concept of mgt and looking at sourceforge, for example, of the completed projects vs abandoned, unfinished projects I think the numbers speak for themselves. Certainly not wishing your project ill but until I see a working alpha or better I have no hopes this project will make it past the screenshot phase like the million other open source projects who claimed they were reaching for the stars yet never got off the launching pad. I really think your hands off approach of leadership style is not helping you either. A project like this needs a strong leader with focus and ability to delegate direction not someone who lets his team do what they want and turn critical choices and vision into a community vote.
  20. From your forums from your 'project lead'; >We got no static hierarchic team structure, so while it's especially the task of the project management to coordinate the efforts, it doesn't mean that my opinion is more worth than that of any other developer of the project. This is why in the end this will become vaporware.

  22. Wow that's sneaky, real sneaky. It is, I missed it at first as well. I think Harlequin means trickster. I once looked it up in a dictionary, iirc it said dance performing clown. But I guess that's just one of many definitions. Apologizes, didn't mean to cause so much confusion, didn't think my sig was 'sneaky' With that said we also are going to have a reporter from the site attend GDC Europe. CCP stated at this event in aug they would have a 'next gen game announcement' many folks think this is going to be the official kick off of the WoD MMORPG. As for Harlequin, those are more modern definitions but correct. However the original meaning of the word (and why I choose it) is defined as 'one who is in utter despair and joy at the same time.' Hence the harlequin masks you still see in some theaters, the masks of one laughing and other crying.
  23. Not a ton but some is better then nothing at this point. See the front page news.
  24. Agreed.
  25. Also I want to add as a side note getting a press pass for GDC is more difficult then getting my security clearance when I was in the army...
