> So far we've agreed on a nuclear winter setting; Well if you go the realistic route the game would (should) be more about survival (clean food, water, shelter, radiation) in such a world then most anything else. If you are using it just for a backdrop so you have a excuse to show pretty FX with little to do about day to day survival then that's going to be in the end a immersion killer I think to any half serious RPGer. In effect take fallout3 x5 in the survival focus. In either case that's running into some pretty large self imposed hurdles. I would take either the mad max (limited nuclear war) or fallout (thrust into the world half a century+ after the war) route. In either case while parts or most of the world is a wasteland and difficult to survive its not to the extent its your #1 focus. I don't know if you have done any research on nuclear winter survival but its not pretty nor fun. Unless you are going for a simulation path for this 'game'. > furthermore the game will take place in Northern Europe / Scandinavia. I know you are trying to break with tradition but frankly you need a more popular setting. You are going to loose folks who don't care about said area or know little about it and thus going to turn them off. RPers want to walk across and explore the ruins of NYC or London. Not some city they are not familiar with or only heard 4 times in their lives if that. Plus, if you really want to grasp the most interest & players it should be set in north america. Not saying this out of ego or pride but simple statistics of where gamers are from. They will be more receptive to a real life location they are aware of then some place they are not. Why do you think the fallout series is placed near major cities in cali and DC and not Istanbul or some city in the middle of no where in west africa? Unless of course you are aiming specifically for European players and don't care about those across the pond. If that's the case then ignore the above. That is my first impression of your design choices.

Haha! Oh yes! The always good "moar buttons means smartar gameplay" argument. Well, more buttons doesn't mean a BETTER game certainly. But it might often mean one that has more options and therefore more interesting gameplay. Someone who gets it... wonders will never cease apparently. -
Some poorly thought out choices already. While I certainly hope for the best for your project I am expecting vaporware.

google 'xp boot cd' several free good ones out there depending on what utilities you want on the .iso problem solved.

I think that's a VERY narrow view and a very wide brush you are panting with. Yes some MMO's are dumbed down just as many SP games are. The only reason they are dumbed down is because some devs are afraid of making them too 'complex' will scare away potential players. As if we are all idiots, prime example is age of conan... wonderful potential but the stat system was clearly designed to be used by 12 yr olds. OTOH look at EVE online, shows you can make a MMO that requires brain power and be successful. I think the same will be required of WoDO in fact. -
Met one or two last night at the goth club event. Not my cup of tea but whatever floats their boat, they are certainly interesting and sociable for sure.. LOL

Little fact for this theory just tossing this out there how it ends in the last 2 eps IMO... sam plugs into galactica and via the cylon goo is able to repair her for a final showdown with cavil who now wants to wipe the fleet out now that he has the girl adama is found out to be dying boomer has second thoughts, kidnaps hera and bring her back to the fleet cavil decides to go nuclear and kill off the fleet even tho hera will prob die big final battle, not sure how but something happens to starbuck and it almost costs the colonials the fight, some main secondary chars die in part due to SB The music notes turn out to be a code for directions to a earth like planet adama dies due to his health issues and outlived by rosalin, typical moore irony. Apollo becomes the new leader. The pithia scrolls in effect all come true.. battle with cylons, dying leader saves them, did lead them to earth, scrolls never said that was the final destination however.

Dumbing down the game so you can play with a joystick and 5 buttons would do far more harm then good. Console players should stick with that consoles are good for.. fighting, racing, sports and japan anime CRPGs. Lets leave it at that and don't dumb down my PC games because they want to play w/ a game pad and too lazy to use a mouse and kb. Perhaps harsh but IMO true. -
If you do there is a EVE Online meet and greet w/ the devs in early May in that city. I can prob pull a string or two and if all goes well get your press creds for my wodonlinenews.net site. Yes, I am sending you into a EVE event to badger the devs into talking about WoDO (World of Darkness Online). If you choose to do this you need to be mature and professional as you will in essence be representing my site. Thus no acting like a ass clown which simply makes us look bad. I don't care about blitzing them about WoDO info that's your job as press to ask things they don't want to talk about, however, doing it tactfully and in a proper manor is what would be required. The up side of doing this 'work' is you get to hang at the event with press creds, talk to the devs and get, hopfully some inside info to report and perhap make some industry contacts for yourself. Thus if anyone feels they are able and up for the job contact me via the WoD Online News site. Thank you.

If you have saves while you played offline (not logged to windows live) then login to windows live those saves are then not available until you logout and vise versa with saves while logged in.

Ok this kinda *issed me off and I need to vent.. so I bought the O:A DLC... downloaded and installed fine. Started a new game been playing for a good 4 or 5 days.. my PC is about 13th lvl put a decent dent in the game. And I have yet to encounter the new content I came to realize. So I do a little google search and apparently you have to be logged into windows live for the dlc content to activate/be usable. And since offline saves do not work when you are logged in to the windows live client... yea I just wasted all that time... I just restarted AGAIN.. tonight..

Not news post per se just stumbled upon their forums.. http://www.interplay.com/forums/index.php -
Simply buy the edition with MotB included then buy SoZ separately. Going though all this hassle to save a whole $10. really seems like a waste of time. And you are missing out on the best nwn series edition to date.

Perhaps, still new to me and that's all that matters If you have nothing of substance to say on the matter then why bother? -
I popped by the interplay site for the first time in prob 6 months and they have forums and the like running and low and behold Chris Taylor (one of the original FO1 designers) is leading the FO MMO project, code named 'V13' He also has at least one other of the original FO1 staff as well working with him. Very interesting to say the least.

Exactly my point why folks don't try to get into vaults. My other question on this topic is after the 20 yrs and many vaults opened why didn't some of the populations say screw this.. its frakked out there lets go back in the vault. Or at the very least live in the vault (like a under ground city) and open the doors to traders and such. They can still interact with the world but live in the comfort and safety of the vault?
-
And you are totally missing the point. Perhaps not the best example but I promise you the #1 reason folks don't try to steal from fort knox is the fact they highly doubt they can get past the fortifications, even professional mercs and thieves who are not so worried about society laws. None the less that was the point I was trying to get at, why bother try to get into something you can't possibly do. Hence why there are almost no folks trying to do just that as the OP inquired about.

One thing I never fully understood about the 'social experiment' metaplot in FO. So NONE of the vaults were supposed to be real shelters, they were all supposed to be a covert experiment? If that's the case then vault-tec never really thought a war would happen? Or if it did it didn't care if humans lived or self destructed? Who is going to care about the results of these experiments if the world and they as a company are nothing but ash anyways? I never got the logic in that metaplot of the story. But I do agree they did take the experiment sub-story a little too far. correction, the raiders in the school nearby were trying to get into vault 101 by mining to it via the underground. But that fairly smart way of getting to it, as been stated many times, the door of the vaults are so tough even a near direct nuclear blast has only a 3% chance of failure. So really what are the outsiders options to get in? Who cares if everyone knows about it, they have no means to force their way in. That's like saying everyone knows about the fort knox gold reserves, why hasn't any thief gotten to it. Same difference.

Actually many folks complained on the official and community forums that dogmeat was fodder. I never used him so I don't know, just making the point most of the feedback I have read about him has been the opposite of your travels. Several mods are out there that make him a bit tougher and smarter.

All followers after combat regen health at a fairly decent pace. They only need to use stims during battle if they are getting mauled and need help. Give each of the followers like 2 dozen stims and they are good for quite some time.

Jericho seems to be built of pig iron. Give him a fairly well fixed up suit of power armor and a heavy weapon and the guys a tank. Literally. Out of all the followers hes seems to die, use poor tactics rarely. The others.. I agree.. are more or less fodder and you need to baby sit them. I am using a mod that makes buttercup a follower. She lasted quite a long time as well however she got mauled by 3 of those yuan-whatever you call them.. the mutated bears (I am assuming) And I decided it was a legit attack how she died, they simply all decided to attack/charge her and we couldn't kill them fast enough to save her. So sadly she had to be replaced as they got at least one critical on her and her head exploded.... (I am using the mod to increase spawn amounts on average by 150%, up to 300% more, so 2 followers does even things out fairly) Also on a side but related note where do I go to access the operation anchorage add-in I bought?

That idealogy would mean that God did not create man in His image, but man created God in his. Ding.. ding.. ding... We have a winner!
